Hearing #TheAmazingSpiderMan2 is filming in Dumbo,Brooklyn later this afternoon, will be there thru weekend too

Hope we get at least a teaser trailer with Man of Steel even though it's just 5 weeks away, might be too soon but still hope.

I think realistically we'll get a teaser trailer with The Wolverine. That's July 26? I think they'd be done with shooting by then. And hopefully already been working on a teaser beforehand.

Gosh I hope so. With SDCC happening just before Wolverine my excitement level will be thru the roof by then.

i don't think we will see the Rhino in the teaser because i'm getting the feeling alot of CGI will be involved for him which won't be finished, like what happened with the lizard where he wasn't shown in the teaser for TASM

and electro may be seen briefly maybe, no big action pieces though, we might get some simple shots of spidey swinging

i think some will be dissapointed with the teaser trailer expecting more and i think some will just be glad to see a teaser for TASM2 at all

I'm not expecting to see Rhino in the teaser either nor am I expecting to see Electro.

I'm still excited to see the teaser however and get a glimpse of some official shots of certain characters as well as the new suit.

Lol the latter is us.
If that's the case, then I think they wanna show the film's full potential (Electro CG/Spidey CG) even in the teaser, so maybe we WON'T get one in The Wolverine

If J.K. Simmons is in this series, I'd be fine with that.

It could happen. Webb has said before that JK Simmons is the perfect Jameson in his eyes, which is why he didn't have Jameson in the first movie. He also said that he is aware of the fact that JK Simmons wants to play the character again. It's not that unlikely for him to surprise us like that. He managed to keep BJ Novak a secret. We didn't know he was in TASM 2 until Webb tweeted a picture of him.

Heck, after Iron Man 3, literally anything can be hidden from the audience. lol

i don't think JK Simmons would agree to do it, he would probably feel he done his spidey films and shouldn't go on to another reboot as same character

plus it would confuse audiences, even webb said he not sure it would be a good idea because its a different universe

all in all people i think its safe to say Jameson won't be in this film as no one seems to have been cast for that role

maybe he will be cast in a 3rd or 4th

If he's not in the 2nd, I don't know what they're waiting for. Part of the fun/charm in these films is growing attached to these characters, even if it's a bit part. Jameson is a perfect recurring part. Seems weird to me. This would be the perfect movie to introduce him in and stop beating around the bush.

Simmons has SAID he'd be open to playing the character again, so you'd be wrong about him agreeing to do it.

Regarding the different continuities, see the 2009 ABC reboot of 'V' for an equivalent example of what would likely happen were Simmons to join the TASM series as Jameson.

JK Simmons said he would love to come back and play JJ for the reboot if he was given the chance, and Webb said he was aware of this.

I'm not exactly 100% sure if it will confuse audiences or not since there would be a 7 year gap between TASM 2 and SM3. JJ also didn't have too many scenes in the first trilogy if you think about it so it wouldn't be the same thing as, for example, recasting James Franco as Harry. They brought back Judi Dench for the James Bond reboot and she played a far larger role in the James Bond films than JJ did. The Wolverine is also apparently a reboot to the X-Men franchise, as was First Class to an extent, and they use a lot of the same actors.

The fact that JJ will be played a bit different will also distinguish him from the previous one even if they use Simmons again. He probably won't be played as over the top as in the last franchise since this universe is more grounded/modern.

I agree. JJ is very important to the Spider-Man mythos. He is essentially responsible for all the crap Spider-Man gets from the public. He wasn't really needed in the first one since Captain Stacy took that role but with him now gone, they need JJ there. I don't think it would have as much of an impact if he shows up in the third film as it would in the second. "Oh look, there's this guy that really hates Spider-Man that we haven't heard of in the previous two movies!"

^ Shikamaru, The Wolverine IS NOT A REBOOT of anything, nor was First Class. TW is set after the events of TLS, and FC is and was intended to be a prequel to the franchise.

That's why I said apparently. It seems like no one knows which movie is a sequel or a reboot over at Fox. You keep hearing different things all the time. Sometimes First Class is a reboot and the first in a new franchise. Sometimes it isn't. Sometimes it's connected to the Wolverine prequels and sometimes it isn't. Sometimes The Wolverine is a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine and sometimes it isn't. Sometimes DOFP promises to fix the messed up continuity and sometimes it doesn't. Everything with the X-Men over at Fox has become one giant cluster**** that doesn't make sense, but that is a topic for another thread.

^ AFAIK, no-one other than Matthew Vaughn has ever referred to First Class as a reboot, and he only did it once.

You're right, though, that this discussion doesn't belong here, so let's move on to things that do.

Back to the J.K. Simmons thing, I figured I might as well explain what I was talking about with regards to the 2009 ABC reboot of 'V' as being an example of how things would likely be handled if Simmons were to sign on for the TASM franchise.

In the original 1980s V miniseries/series, actress Jane Badler portrayed a character known as Diana. When the new 2009 ABC version of V was renewed for a second season, the PTBs announced that they were going to bring in their own character named Diana - the mother of the new V's primary antagonist, Anna (played by Morena Baccarin), and cast none other than Ms. Badler - the 'original' Diana - in the role even though the new V occupied an entirely different continuity than the 1980s V.

the character would have to be different, not over the top like the first 3 films, which makes you wonder what the point would be of bringing him back to do a different version of the character

and i know there would be a big buzz if he did return but i could also see alot of heavy criticism over it, when webbs trying to create his own thing and suddenly brings back this actor to play same character he last played in 2007, kinda misses the point to this reboot =/

I heard other people call FC a reboot. But like we said, that's a different topic.

Different =/= not like JJ. The JJ Raimi had fit perfectly in the retro cheesy universe that he created. Jameson isn't like that anymore even in the current comics. He is still over the top to an extent, but not as over the top as in the Raimi films. A JJ that is a bit less over the top wouldn't be a departure from JJ as we know him. Take Spectacular Spider-Man's adaptation of JJ for example. Still over the top but also more serious to fit in with the show's modern setting.

On one hand, he may face criticism. But on the other hand, there is almost no one that would be a better fit for JJ than JK Simmons. This is something that everyone seems to agree on, both the people that liked and disliked TASM.

there are good actors who could play that part, whether they are as good as simmons would be down to opinion though

it would get alot of criticism if they cast him again, webb would be accused of attempting to gain from raimis films, the new version of jameson they cast with jk simmons for would be criticised for not being what audiences were used too, unless they make him to similar to raimis then that would be criticised also, this is not like the burton/schumacher films after all, which had a few same cast playing same characters

its one of thoughs subjects people go yeah id be ok if he returned then once it happened alot of negativity would start

if they recast then audiences may not feel he is as good as jk simmons but at least webb can say this is a different version and isn't suppost to be
