He already has a device similar to such in the first film as in a police scanner. Making a mini version would be fine, but to listen to music....seems pointless.

It's all conjecture at this point, but if the mp3 thing is actually accurate, it could be a pretty unique creative choice to have a rock song blaring over top of a big scale car chase.

I'd rather keep my ears open on civilians screaming for help if they need it. In TSSM, if Spidey was too busy listening to music, he wouldn't be able to notice that OsCorp had an explosion that turned Otto into Doc Ock and Ock would've most likely killed Norman Osborn right then and there, lol.

Just got home...what the **** is going on...

the mp3 could work rather well. the audience could think it is the soundtrack, but in actuality it is what peter is listening to. those kind of reveals can be quite novel when done right.

also, it shows that peter is loving life as spider-man and that he has become somewhat arrogant and cavalier.

this connects with what i've previously speculated; spider-man/peter starts off on top in this film, before crashing back down to reality, so to speak. the parker luck will rear its ugly head early in the 2nd act.

i highly doubt the mp3 will be used once things get serious.

it all could serve to enhance peter's arc in the film.
