I'm just speculating from that one tweet that said "just because she is joining doesn't necessarily mean she is MJ" or something along those lines.

i think the mp3 thing is legit because remember that video of spidey defeating paul before he turns into rhino? n once paul got webbebed up spidey walked away dancing i think he was listening to music he thought it wasnt seriuos at the time by then when he comes back as rhino thats when spidey straightens up

Spidey sense doesn't work with just voices, does it?

In the comics, at least in the early 2000s when Straczynski was writing it, his spider sense went off when either him or someone nearby was in danger.

If they keep that idea here, the music thing wouldn't be a problem in that department. Actually, that could be awesome. Imagine a montage of Spidey swinging around New York snatching up bad guys with his spider sense to a rock song. I think it would be a cool little showing of how Peter has worked his way into his carrer as Spider-Man.

the mp3 could work rather well. the audience could think it is the soundtrack, but in actuality it is what peter is listening to. those kind of reveals can be quite novel when done right.

also, it shows that peter is loving life as spider-man and that he has become somewhat arrogant and cavalier.

this connects with what i've previously speculated; spider-man/peter starts off on top in this film, before crashing back down to reality, so to speak. the parker luck will rear its ugly head early in the 2nd act.

i highly doubt the mp3 will be used once things get serious.

it all could serve to enhance peter's arc in the film.

Just got home...what the **** is going on...

Shailene is no longer playing Mary Jane in Amazing Spider-Man 2 nor any of the future films.

The assumed reasoning being that

A) Her inevitable schedule for the Divergent sequel will interfere with ASM3 and 4, creating a risk in her availability for the sequels.

B) They decided to remove Mary Jane to streamline the story as well as go a different direction. That direction being......


Sarah Gadon of "Cosmopolis" fame.

It seems that, in a preemptive strike, Webb and Sony casted the role of MJ in ASM3 (where she will now make her debut) VERY early to avoid a similar fate that Shailene ultimately suffered.

All of this has (except the exact reasoning for Shailene's complete departure) been confirmed via reports in the last 24 hours.

Gadon herself confirmed her involvement in the "ASM franchise" earlier today, despite a tweet earlier saying the reports of her casting being false.
