[Green Goblin]

I saw this picture of Hobgoblin on another thread and I made a manip changing the colors and seeing if it would fit the GG. Here it is:

I think it would be a good idea to mix the 616 and the Ultimate Goblins and make Norman transformate just a bit (Gaining scars and a -slightly- green skin), he would wreakhavoc and stop appearing in public (So we don't have to make him a Hulk 2.0).

I prefer that face to anything else posted so far. Not sure about the hood. Not keen on the shape or the shade of purple. Still if it were a choice between a hood and the more traditional headsock then I would take the hood every time.

One can never encompass perfection aesthetically with blockbusters films concerning a fanbase.

What they can do, is do their best to create something cool that pays homage to the original comic book look.

Haven't seen the glider picture yet but I hope it's not like the comic's. For me one thing Raimi got right about Green Goblin's appearance/weapons was the glider.

I read one of the latest Superior Spider-man books a month ago. Go tell me those Goblin boxer-shorts will translate well to film. The Goblin has been wearing his classic design lately, not the more armoured look someone posted a couple of pages back (which even then I don't think would work without major changes). Classic Goblin just won't work onscreen. It needs a better adaptation.

Even the Alex Ross designs I have a hard time buying. I think they're great for what they are, but I'm not convinced they would look great on film.

all it needs is a decent explination to be honest... and the MAJORITY did find the Raimi suit rediculous. there's been jokes about it for over a decade now...

the guy calls himself a "goblin" it's not far fetched that he might look like a LOTR like goblin imo... he just needs to have some sort of a reason as to why he chose a "goblin" imo. If they embrace that.. then he can reflect the comic look

You don't have to make him look like he is from LOTR lol. There are some creepy masks you can find. They should take inspiration from the Joker gang masks in TDK.

It makes me VERY sad and disappointed that people even think transformation is the way to go.

It's as if you guys don't even like Green Goblin so why even bother? :/

im a huge spidey and a huge goblin fan... and I don't even see how the mask is truly that important... I find it silly actually for him to sit in a room talking to a mask... I like the idea of him talking to himself in a mirror far more... Norman talking to the Goblin. The Mask is just not nearly as important.

But imo it'll get repeatitive and dull if they have him inject everytime wants to wreck havoc or a hulk/lizard like transformation

Yeah, the Raimi GG didn't look as good as it should have (though I've never hated it as much as some seem to). But that doesn't excuse making another costume look silly.

Personally I just don't think you can explain away purple pirate boots and a smurf hat. I'm fine with a Goblin mask, but as I've said before I'd like something of better quality than the manip posted recently. I think there's some leeway on how much influence from the 616 costume you can have on a potential movie Goblin, but a direct translation will likely just look silly imho.

2. Based on Jones's comments, if she is playing Felicia Hardy, we'll see the Black Cat persona at some point in this.

A report came out a few weeks ago about it. last week, a few leaked pictures, as well as a trusted source on these boards, confirmed it

you're jumping to conclusions bud... Black Cat on screen is no where confirmed, Felicia i'm 90% sure is in the film, but that doesn't mean she's black cat, nor does that mean it's Felicity... it could just as well easily be the new girl (who in all honestly looks MUCH more like felicia anyway)

and The Death Of Gwen is absolutely not confirmed to be in this film.. It's strongly suggested that Norman and the Goblin will be... but Gwen's death is not confirmed what so ever.

Despite what some will say, it hasn't been confirmed whatsoever. Huge rumor, just like Adrian Toomes, Black Cat, Chameleon, and nearly every Spider-man villain that people have speculated will okay a part in this film. The TASM2 boards have become a fantasy land of sorts.

The only solid fact that we know (for now) for certain is that Chris Cooper is playing Norman Osborn. That's it. The most likely (and desirable) scenario would be a mid/post credits transformation where we get a quick taste of the Goblin and what's to come in TASM3. Others would have you believe that the Goblin is going to be this surprise 3rd act villain and even battle Spidey. Of that does wind up being the case, Electro will go down as one of the most unimportant/underused villains in comic book movie history and that'd be a crying shame.

lol to be fair... that's pretty much Electro in a nutshell in the comics as well

I said that GOBLIN was all but officially confirmed. The Death of Gwen Stacy HAS been officially confirmed by Marc Webb and others. They have repeatedly stated the importance of that storyline and how its the endgame for Gwen.

The Goblin will appear, unless they cancel all the sequels, they wouldn't forget a character like that.

The question is: When?

I think we might see an introduction to the Goblin Serum/Super Soldier Project and he would finish his transformation (literally or metaphorically) in an post-credits scene.

it'd be kinda genius if Quentin Beck (who also of course is a famous movie special FX artist was the one who creates the mask or costume.) after all.. the costumed characters we've seen in set pics have me pondering... what if spider-man's costumed existence spawns copy cats? (like in Kick Ass) makes sense for a Villain to want to try the same imo.

it's a nice nod to the books, and is a simple explanation. though... im personally just hoping it's a transformation (there's less room for error, less to explain, and it makes far more sense in the established universe. There just needs to be a way to logically incorporate the purple... even if it's a safety suit that's torn to shreds.

1) Goblin himself isn't confirmed... by any source.. just a few people on the web that say they have a legit source.. or claim they are a legit source (hype 101, don't believe everything no matter how legit, take it with a grain of salt) the glider appearing also doesn't confirm that the goblin will. It's safe to "assume" he will, but it's incorrect to say "it's confirmed that he will"

2) yes, Webb and Emma say they "want" and "plan on" doing the "Death of Gwen Stacy arc" in this film series.. but they never have once confirmed she's dying in this film. PERIOD. Majority believe she will yes certainly die in this film series, we just don't know when. But her dying in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is NOWHERE NEAR being confirmed.

3) you did say "if she is playing felicia" but... you go on to say "We'll see the black cat persona at some point in this" when no... nothing is confirmed for AMZ2 at all... also keep in mind 2 films (and a 3rd sequel film that was never made) had kurt connors in it.. but no lizard. and it took a reboot to finally get lizard. So again, just because a character in civies shows up.. doesn't mean there alter ego ever will... and it's VERY far from any conformation.

I think we could go back and forth on the whole transformation/suit thing, but I think it just comes down to we have two different sets of views. I respect yours, but I just come at it from another angle.

As for explanation. I imagine that Webb will likely do something totally different to whatever either of us theorise, but I could imagine that for a suit and mask etc that something along the lines of what they did with Raimi's Goblin could work.

The mask could be explained as Goblin tech (though maybe this one personally modified by Norman). Maybe it could be a Mission Impossible style disguise where it's meant to seem like a realistic disguise (and the tech could be later stolen by the Chameleon or bought on the black market etc) or it could be more like Darkman where it's a prosthetic skin. The suit could be a flight suit (like Raimi's) or it could be a prototype armour for potential military application (like Batman Begins Batsuit).
