I've never understood why people think Spidey only opens his mouth to tell a joke. It couldn't be farther from the truth. He verbalizes his inner thoughts, feelings, ideas, etc. and it's a necessary part of his character. Like the HS fight showed, he can be speaking lines without telling jokes and have it add to the scene in a way that compliments the action. The final fight is no exception and could have used some Spider-man dialogue without ruining the tension. It could have helped the tension too depending on how well it was written, all without telling a single joke. He could have expressed his fear, tried to get Connors to see what he was doing, talked about his plan i.e. freezing the Lizard when he saw the nitrogen, etc. The point is, there's plenty of ways to include his very verbal nature without making a constant stream of one-liners.
I'm not trying to take away from the final fight or anything; I enjoyed it.
