People have been comparing the two ever since Andrew Garfield was cast as Peter Parker.

:jedi eh WTF?!! TASM was nothing like twilght.:cmad: People are just desperate to hate on the new franchise, granted I wasn't too fond of TASM but going as far as saying it's like Twilight is going too far... I think we should start a lunch mob hahaha:cwink:

Since you are critical of TASM, just curious as to what you thought of the TASM2 comic con footage?

The trailer was amazing but I have been fooled before (looking at you MOS) :whatever:. I'm excited but I'm staying optimistic and judge the movie when i see it next year. What about you? :woot:

I never found the MOS footage amazing (it looked like another action oriented Zach Snyder directed film to me), but I have been fooled before as well *cough* SPIDER-MAN 3 *cough*

I loved the TASM2 comic con trailer, and also found it amazing. For me, the fact that Kurtzman, Orci, and Jeff Pinkner are writing it makes me more optimistic, and it seems like Webb and Co. really know what they are doing this time around. Here's hoping for the best!

I'm liking everything so far except for the twist talk. That worries me alot.

Are you not fans of Orci and Kurtzman as well?? Oh MoS looked like it was going to be the greatest CBM of al time, but ended up being a souless, bland and CGI crap fest.:cmad:

My Spidey sense tells me this has to do with the Mandarin in IM3.:o

Twists are risky when it comes to films, but would you rather TASM2 play it safe like its predecessor?

I think these are possible twists we could be getting for TASM2:

1- Death of Gwen Stacy. We see Gwen by the bridge in the trailer, so this could mean that they are hinting at her death, and she does get thrown off a bridge, but survives. Honestly though, would you want her death to happen EXACTLY as it did in the comics? It would be way too predictable! I think it would be awesome to have her thrown off the bridge just like the comics, and have Peter think he killed her (like what happened with MJ in USM). Then her real death would take place in TASM3.

2- Green Goblin. They might hint that Harry is the Goblin, but it is later revealed to be Norman (who the GA would suspect is only sick in bed and couldn't possibly be the Goblin).

3- Parents Storyline. This one to me is a little more obvious, since we know there is something big going on behind the scenes involving Peter's missing parents. There has to be a twist in there somewhere, whether its his parents being Secret Agents, Double Agents, or created something (like the symbiote) that they were trying to hide from Norman.

4- The Man in the Shadows. This is another obvious twist that we will probably see on screen. His identity is being kept secret for a reason, so I think we should all be surprised once we get the big reveal.

5- Spider-Man's origin. What makes this series different from Raimi's is that there is a whole lot more going on with the origin story. Its more simple than getting bit, getting powers, and never questioning it. What's the deal with the Spiders? Why did the Spider that bit Peter have electricity running through it when it was dangling from Peter's hand? How come he didn't turn into a giant cross-species Spider? Was he experimented on? Expect a twist somewhere here (which is probably involved with the parents storyline).

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the twist aspect of the film. As long as its done well, I'm fine with it.

No, I am a fan of Orci and Kurtzman. I said that they make me more optimistic about the film. ;)

Those guys are hit or miss. I still don't like them considering their script on Transformers 2 bleh. :o

They don't have enough films under their belt to be fairly judged IMO. But I love what they did with ST, STID, and MI3. Even the first Transformers was okay.

But please don't judge them based on Transformers 2. Here is the story behind that according to wikipedia:

Screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who had written the first film, originally passed on the opportunity to write a sequel due to schedule conflicts. The studio began courting other writers in May 2007, but were unimpressed with other pitches and eventually convinced Orci and Kurtzman to return.[3] The studio also hired Ehren Kruger, who had impressed Bay and Hasbro president Brian Goldner with his knowledge of the Transformers mythology.[6] The writing trio were paid $8 million.[3] Screenwriting was interrupted by the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike, but to avoid production delays, the writers spent two weeks writing a treatment, which they handed in the night before the strike began.[7] Bay then expanded the outline into a 60-page scriptment,[8] which included more action, humor, and characters.[7][9] The three writers spent four months finishing the screenplay while "locked" in two hotel rooms by Bay; Kruger wrote in his own room and the trio would check on each other's work twice a day.[10]

I just hope the twist isn't them screwing up Gwen's iconic story, or making Harry the real Goblin.

I don't think it will go down like that, it will be a cop out, kinda like in the SSM animated series were Norman framed Harry... But hey I'm just speculating.:woot:

Really dude?? You're gonna use wikipedia as a legit sourse?? Come on man.:whatever:
I'm sorry, but that wiki post had plenty of sources to make it legit. And whether or not you want to believe it, Transformers 2 WAS written during the writers strike, and did face many issues.

I watched TASM last night and I can honestly say I like it more and more every time I see it. Garfield is perfect, Emma is perfect. The editing in the movie was terrible and there were countless scenes that would have added so much to the movie. Not giving Connors a family or a backstory for that matter was a big let down as well. However, there's a ton of things that really set it apart from Raimi's. The continuity factor is huge as well, lots of unanswered questions that will make the audience "Ouu and ahh" when they get those answers. The connections will be a big thing too. How everything is incorporated into the story line, especially the villains.

Michael Bay himself also is involved, which is important to know. Webb is no way near as bad as he.

Some of their other scripts as well were meh, Cowboys and aliens, The Island??? ppfffttt :o

I just did and they're non-existent right now, check for yourself.:o

That's odd, I guess they were taken down. Either way, Transformers 2 WAS affected by the writer's strike. Same with Quantum of Solace and The Incredible Hulk, both of which were released the same year.

Even Michael Bay admitted the movie suffered from the writer's strike, and that the film sucked.

AND... its Michael Bay. He obviously had heavy involvement with the film, and I wouldn't judge anyone poorly for writing a movie for him.

If these things were done better in the film, I would have thought the movie was PERFECT. I agree with just about everything else you wrote

 Don't even compare the two. At least Webb has heart.

The Island is another Michael Bay film FYI. Though I think its more tolerable than the Transformers.

Cowboys and Aliens was OK. I thinks its as good as you can get with a movie about Cowboys and Aliens. hehe.
