I never said Webb was bad.

I was referring to why TF2 (and IMO the other TF films as well) sucks. Sure, Orci and Kurtzman were involved, but so was Michael Bay. I don't think Marc Webb will have Gwen posing in brah only, or humping dogs.

Or ghetto robots.

No. Some opinions are informed and some are uninformed. Just because you hate Twilight (everyone hates Twilight. We get it) and love TASM doesn't mean that there are no similarities between the two, particularly, the decidedly different approach to the character and romance.

Now I'm not saying that TASM "ripped off" Twlight or anything so simplistic or juvenile. I am saying that studios follow and in fact, bank heavily on trends. Remember after the success of the first few Harry Potter movies how there were suddenly a million adaptations of young adult fantasy novels(Lemony Snickett, the Spiderwick Chronicles, Golden Compass, etc...)- which weren't necessarily Harry Potter "rip offs", but the decision for the studio to greenlight them was heavily, heavily influenced by the success of the Harry Potter franchise.

For those of us that notice and pay attention to such things, the fact that they decided to reboot, putting Parker back in high school (which made logistical sense from a storytelling standpoint sure- but would also appeal to a greater extent to pre-teens and teenagers), They decided to make the character a more brooding, angsty "outsider" (which IS a trend now-whether you believe the character has always been this way or not), Hire a director known for his hit romantic film to develop a romance that the female demographic could more easily identify with, etc... And this is putting aside the superficial aesthetics like trendy music and clothing, etc...

It's not a conspiracy and it's not a rip off, but studios don't make choices like this apropo of nothing...

That's a good point.:woot:

Putting Peter in HS for the first movie made sense because that is where the character started out in the comics (Raimi kind of glossed over it). Having him graduate in this film makes sense as well since SM was actually allowed to grow and change back then, as opposed to Marvel's obsession with youth today. They made him into a more realistic outsider instead of a clichéd stereotypical "nerd."

I'm glad they kept Peter in HS in TASM, and letting him graduate in the second film is also a good decision IMO.

Peter was in hs for the first 30 issues or so of the comics, and went right to college afterwards.

You do realise Sam Raimi is a fan of the silver age comics right?? As in the Stan Lee/Steve Ditko era??

You do realize that Sam Raimi did skip over the high school aspect of Peter Parker's life despite being a fan of Sten Lee/Steve era?

Marc Webb is a huge fan of the classic 616 stories (Steve Ditko/John Romita sr. era), but also of Ultimate as well. He isn't as restrained as Raimi, and has more source material to choose from.

Yeah but Webb's films are more influenced by the Ultimate comics than the classic ones.:o

How disappointing

Webb soon to become our Nolan.
In Webb we trust!
Proud to be Webb-head!

It was influenced by both the 616 and Ultimate comics.

616: Gwen Stacy, Lizard Design, Captain Stacy's death, Lizard's plan, Peter standing up to Flash

Ultimate: Responsibility Speech, Oscorp being involved in Spidey's origin, Pete's parents being scientists

TASM universe is specially based around The Spectacular Spider-Man TV show, along with 616 and Ultimate elements.

Let's say a combination of TSSM (which is inspired heavily on the early 616 comics), 616, and USM.

That show had several homages to Raimi's trilogy :)

No, but then again TASM didn't have as much hype as TASM2.

The trailer came out Summer 2011, and then a trailer in Feb 2012, followed by another in April or so.
we need a poster or somthing because it is extremly boring on here. Maybe its because the hype is so big that the drought seems worse. atleast release an official pick or somthing

Actually, I think TASM is a nice combination of all the different iterations. Spectacular, 616, Ultimate and even some MTV Animated Series influence in there too.

Really? I honestly though that another trailer (not a teaser) came out by the end of 2011. If not, I don't understand how could I last half a year without a trailer lol

No, there was a big drought between the teaser and the first full trailer.

Oh yup. I remember the teaser poster releasing in between those two in like December of 2011. Ish

And during those kinda droughts, I forgot about the movie tbh. It's for the better.
