I did not insult anyone. I didn't single out anyone or use bad language or use insulting language at all, I simply made a comparison to another movie that had a very similar tone.

I used the term "kiddie" as that was sorta mentioned as the tone of this movie in a post above.
The term "kiddie" has been used by the people in camps other than the MCU films. I go into all forums...I have seen it many times. It is used as a derogatory term by the fans of things other than the MCU to bolster their side. If you do not want people using derogatory terms about your opinions...then take the high road and not use them first....We have here on this page...multiple posts where people are upset and mouthing off about a poster on IMDB who said something bad about the people who liked ASM2....so you took the low road and insulted the people who liked the AVENGERS.
edit: why do mods only call out posters who seem to speak on the supportive side of things, but never those who unrelentingly criticize and complain about the movie to no end?
If I only had a penny for every single time I hear this complaint FROM BOTH SIDES!!!!! The haters say we only pick on the haters. The lovers say we only pick on the lovers. One day....one day....you people will take off the blinders and look at what I say with open eyes....I DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHICH OPINION YOU HAVE....I ONLY ASK THAT YOU POST CIVILLY!!!!

I've only ever seen posters called out by mods for "not accepting that some people don't like the film," which isn't true,
Then you need to open your eyes. I have warned, infracted, and banned posters on both sides. I'm getting tired of saying this, but here it goes again - I DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT YOUR OPINION OF THIS OR ANY OTHER MOVIE IS...ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU POST CIVILLY WHEN DISCUSSING IT.

and I saw absolutely no insult in Cyclop's post for example,
That's the sad part. You and so many others see nothing wrong with insulting people who don't share your opinion....but raise wholy hell when the same is done about yours.

but he was reprimanded for not accepting others viewpoints?
No...he WAS NOT reprimanded for not accepting someone else's viewpoint...he was reprimanded for belittleling someone else's viewpoint.

And don't tell me that the detractors are doing it "more reasonably/respectfully," cause that's certainly not true
Some are...some aren't. I reprimand the ones I see not being civil.

edit: C.Lee, I see where you don't want people tagging on terms like "kiddie" to describe other movies/fan bases, that makes sense to me. But there have been much much worse terms than that thrown around in here when some people are endlessly speaking of how "completely, absolutely terrible" this movie is
And yet once again I say...when I see that happen, I reprimand. Someone saying they hate the movie is NOT an attack upon you. If someone says you are an idiot for liking it, that is an attack upon you.

Dude, you're really reaching here. You just can't label a word a "catch" word just because it's been used before. It just reeks of random cherry picking. I don't get how people (on both sides) can go pages and pages borderline insulting people over there opinions but every once in while you guys decide to make an example out of someone for posting the most benign thing in the world.

You're not correcting him for any actual wrong doing, you're putting him in his place simply because you don't like the word he used.
I have been a moderator/administrator on this site for around 12 years....I have learned in that time what are catch words and phrases and what can or can not be discussed civilly, etc.......

I don't see anything necessarily inherently wrong with calling a movie kiddie really, it's just a way of saying kid-friendly. If some people use that as a pejorative, that's their choice, though I wasn't aware that it was a "buzz word" that was commonly used to insult the MCU movies. A superhero movie being made with kids in mind can be a great thing. Marc Webb said that he and Andrew Garfield were especially conscious of keeping kids and their connection to Spider-Man a big part of this film.

I think the reason people have been reacting so differently to the tone(s) present in ASM-2 is simply because it was such a change from the tone of the first one. It has nothing to do with the Marvel movies, really. Audience expectations do differ from franchise to franchise, despite the fact that the studios are now trying to copy the formula anywhere they can.

Dude. It's not amazing.

10/10. :o

:oldrazz:

So, I am definitely seeing this a 6th and final time, before the Blu-Ray at least.

Then, when the blu-ray hits, I'm gonna watch it all the time.

When you are gonna see it again? 6 hours for me.

I've seen that term used to describe THIS movie as well, all I was doing was was comparing the reaction of the same tone, no insults intended.

With all due respect just because it's used by some as an insult doesn't means it's a universally insulting term, I was using it as a descriptive term.

Could you please give me a synonym so as not to get in trouble? How about Child-friendly? Would that be an okay term to use to describe this movie and avengers tone without it being mis-construed as an insult?

I'd like to avoid ruffling feathers by using words that some view as insulting.

It's a loaded word that carries a negative connotation (especially in the context which it was used).

This is a much more intelligent, fair way of saying that a movie is appropriate/enjoyable for children. :yay:

Worst part of the movie is the aftermath of the Clock Tower fight :csad:

It's just semantics then. Saying the same thing but saying it more lengthy because the shortened way of saying it is mistakenly thought of as an insult.

I don't think he thinks it's bad.

He just think's it's sad. :(

It was very sad. I felt bad for the Stacy family...

...first the Dad then Gwen.

Must be heartbreaking.

If it were real life of course.

But it was, seeing her mom and brother torn was just... ****... And Peter spending most of the days on her grave...oh boy :csad:

I haven't seen it used about TASM2...but as I have said elsewhere, I can't be expected to read every single post made at the Hype. I read what I can, and do what I can with the time I have.
With all due respect just because it's used by some as an insult doesn't means it's a universally insulting term.
I understand that...but these are judgement calls. The N word is considered a greatly offensive term to many...but OK by some. The F word about gays is considered greatly offensive by many...but OK by some. WE here at the Hype made the decision that neither should be used at any time on here. The word "kiddie" is OK when used in the right context. If someone is talking about SPONGE BOB and call him "kiddie" you will not see a complaint. But if someone does not like a certain character or franchise and calls it "kiddie'...they are most likely not saying it in a kind way. So it's use is judged in context with what the conversation is.

The fact is both this movie and Avengers have been described with that term. Could you please give me a synonym so as not to get in trouble? How about Child-friendly? Would that be an okay term to use to describe this movie and avengers tone without it being mis-construed as an insult?

Child friendly seems acceptable. I have not seen that used as an insult about any movie....which means of course that now it will be.

Fair enough C.Lee. ;)

But it was, seeing her mom and brother torn was just... ****... And Peter spending most of the days on her grave...oh boy :csad:

I saw a funny image the other day. I won't post it as it might be thought of as insulting to another franchise but basically it compared how Batman reacted to Rachel's death to how Spider-Man reacted to Gwen's.

It was done just for lolz though.

You did the right call :yay:

People can say this movie is "fundamentally" bad as much as they want, but every single friend/family member/co-worker of mine has told me this is the best Spider-man movie, and possibly best Superhero movie they've ever seen. And I swear to god I'm not fabricating that or exaggerating. Every single person I know has said it completely blew them away

I've had several friends tell me it was good and the audience seemed pleased both times I went. It's not just us.

Not really. Using that word as a means of denigrating another franchise makes it obvious what the intentions were.

If that really was what you were initially attempting to communicate, it was just a poor choice of words. Like I said, certain words carry negative connotations and may come off as coarse, rude or vulgar. Just like C.Lee said, be civil.

All of my friends liked the film, and my parents went to see it, and my mum likes it. My dad not so much.

I guess everybody sees these films differently. :oldrazz:

It's really refreshing hearing you guys saying that there are people that liked the movie outside of the Internet, because i see so much negativity and i think to myself "maybe me and the rest of the folks in the Hype that loved the movie are complete lunatics." Because, when you like something that much and you watch it being panned down almost everywhere, you can't help but feel a bit disheartened.

A good deal of people I know liked this movie, and I did as well, so I'm glad to see that at least. I haven't heard anyone yet say they flat out did not like it, other than here.
