The only thing it nailed was the coffin that contains the careers of Orci and Kurtzman, you tasteless, ignorant clown.

My thoughts on "THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2":

First off, I would give this film a B-. I don't think it reaches the heights of Raimi's "Spider-Man 2" but the critics have judged this movie so harshly and unfairly that their hatred for it is eyeball-rolling and laughter-inducing. While yes some things don't work and feel rushed, the story is focused and I love the theme of time throughout the film. You definitely want Peter to succeed and save the day even though you know Gwen will eventually die and time is definitely not on Peter's side throughout this film.

The Pros:

- Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone's performances continue to be nothing but stellar. They're funny, charming, adorable, and tear-jerking.

- The webslinging. I would've loved to have seen more P.O.V. shots but man did they up the ante with it. Soaring over the city to the action-sequences, I loved every minute of it.

-Showing more of Peter's intelligence and doing everything he can to one-up Electro.

- Dane DeHaan. Wow! Is this kid something epic or what? I wanted him to play Harry after seeing "Chronicle" and boy does the kid bring it. I LOVED his Harry Osborn/Green Goblin. Franco was always the pretty-boy but never struck me as threatening when he became the second Goblin, but the desperation, frustration, and angst Harry goes through--- the choices he makes--- how he sacrifices his friendship and everything for survival... perfect.

- People have complained about Paul Giamatti but I liked him as Rhino and look forward to the future with him in the Sinister Six. That end scene with him vs. Spider-Man... so much win for as short as it is.

-Michael Massee as Gustav Fiers/The Gentleman and Chris Cooper. Boy, are these guys some evil dudes, and whoever Oscorp's foreign backers are makes me giddy.

-The end credits teasing the Sinister Six (Kraven and Mysterio) has got me super excited!

Cons:

- Jamie Foxx's Max Dillon/Electro and Marton Csokas' Dr. Kafka are perilously close to falling into "Batman Forever"/"Batman & Robin"-territory. They're campy as hell and while Electro is a visually-stunning character onscreen, the portrayal of such an iconic character going from a nebbish and needy electrician to a homicidal Dr. Manhattan-inspired psychopath just never wowed me other than the Time Square battle and end battle. He never quite reaches the level of Willem Dafoe's Norman Osborn/Green Goblin or Alfred Molina's Dr. Otto Octavius/Dr. Octopus, but more ends up being a forgettable villain like Thomas Hayden Church's Flint Marko/Sandman.

Marton Csokas' Dr. Kafka is cartoony and comes off as a parody of German mad scientists seen in horror films. But luckily, he isn't in the film for too long.

- I would've loved to see more of B.J. Novak's Alistair Smythe, Felicity Jones' Felicia Hardy, and Colm Feore's Donald Menken, but there's always the sequels, kids!

-It does fall into "Iron Man 2"-syndrome where the world-building gets in the way of the actual story but everything feels centralized and interwoven even if they are many webs Webb is weaving with the different characters and plotlines.

So, those are my thoughts. Better than Raimi's "Spider-Man 2?" Hardly but I would give it a solid 8/10.

Again, screw the critics and enjoy. It's a fun, webslinging ride. :woot:

I just died...

I have to ask though, in what context was that statement made? What exactly was said for whoever to issue that sort of reply?

I think another poster said this film nailed Spider-Man and he responded with that. I just lost it at that response.:funny:

Orzi are hit or miss, I blame Avi and Matt more than I blame them. With the right director at the helm, they can pull of a good script.

My review

It's uneven as all hell...it wants to be both a silly comic book movie from 10 or maybe 20 years ago AND wants to have a decent human story. It's Batman Forever and Spider-Man 3 all over again. Also this movie is filled with conveniences. Sh**the fact Oscorp is now a super villain factory is already enough. Then you have the stuff with Peter's parents and it just trickles down. Also I dunno how many pointed it out but holy crap nobody gave a single sh** for Uncle Ben. It was bad enough in the first Amazing Spider-Man and with this, he was less than a cameo. With the things that improved from the first film was Spider-Man and his quips and a somewhat better relationship of Gwen and Peter. Aunt May was so much better as well. Some of the action was better, the Times Square scene was easily the best part but how it came about was hilariously stupid. Overall it's better than the first Amazing Spider-Man (mostly because it wasn't boring), but it's on the level of Spider-Man 3.
6/10

Nice review, but Electro is iconic? I think that most people know him because of his ridiculous outfit. :woot:

Frankly, I'm getting a little sick of people criticizing the movie for being "bloated".

There are words out there, ya know.

Funny i always said there were people that felt were annoyed that sony rebooted and just wanted to laugh at sony and tell them they failed

then i see the imdb thread that says

"IT'S OVER! YOU FAILED SONY! MUAHAHAHAHAHHAA!"

Okay, that is pretty good. :funny:

IMDB is a troll haven. Pay them no mind. They live to troll everything.

It is man, I'm having a good laugh over there.:funny: Here's one more:
TASM 2 makes Batman & Robin look like Shakespeare!
That's the last I'll post here, if anyone wants to have a good laugh. Head over there, bring some popcorn, those threads are hilarious.:funny:

If that's the only word that sticks out to you in the criticisms, then I think you need to pay attention when reading some more words yourself. Bloated doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of what's wrong with this movie.

You should create a thread here and post lines from IMDB users regarding this film.

Nah man. Here's one more, I promise, this is the last one:
You have to be a 5 year old or on crystal meth to think this was the best spider-man movie ever and not the worst.

:lmao:

I understand that people have issues with this movie. I do, too.

But yes, "bloated" is a word that's starting to get on my nervs. It's overused as ****.

Man I'm on IMDB page for TASM2, there's people appreciating SM3 more than this film.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1872181/board/thread/229208928?p=1

You can count me in that demographic. This is the worst Spider-Man adaptation I've ever seen. It still doesn't even feel right to say that.

Well, you reap what you sow; Sony earned every bit of this vitriol.

It's not like there haven't been reboots that faced an uphill battle among fans and the general audience before. Look at Casino Royale. Daniel Craig had nobody in his corner up until the film's release, and look how that turned out. Now, he's largely being celebrated as among the best, as are at least 2 of his 3 Bond films. So much for wanting to hate something.

People are fickle, but they can be swayed if given a quality product from end to end. Clearly, that's not the case with this new movie.

I think rather than focusing on the word, you should be focusing on the why.

What is it exactly that gives people the impression that the movie is bloated? Maybe you'll find your answer. No disrespect...but I think this is a fairly trivial complaint.

I could probably point out the words awesome, epic, and chemistry are used to describe this movie as well.

Nah man. Here's one more, I promise, this is the last one:

You know, TeeKay, you're probably the only fan of this movie that I've encountered who can take all of the criticism in stride and have a laugh about it.

Cheers, I sincerely wish that more of us were as good natured as you are.

Movie's no Spider-Man 2, but I rank it as second best Spidey film yet. Really enjoyed it

I don't think it deserves it's RT score at all, it wasn't nearly that bad.

9/10

Thanks man. It's mainly due to that I won't let other people's opinions hinder my enjoyment of the film. I judge the film for myself, do I disagree with them? Yes, but I'm not gonna go around insulting people and get involved in useless debates that usually end with insults and name calling. Would rather not say anything unless there's someone who wants to have a healthy debate/discussion about the film.

"Epic" annoys gets a little on my nervs, so yes, it's mostly the words that annoy me.

Again, I can of course understand if people have issues with this movie. I just think there are better words out there to describe them.

I think I know what bothered me most about this film, it was like several movies spliced together. You had the Spider-Man aspect which felt like nailed on Spider-Man, then you had the Peter/Gwen stuff which felt like a tern romance and then you had the Electro subplot which felt out of place in the corny way it was done which wouod have been more in place in (Raimi's) Spider-Man or a Joel Schumacher Batman film . Of course you also had the Harry Osbourn arc that again felt like a different movie to what else was going on, the film just didn't gel.
