Jeez, almost every Spidey fan wants Sony to work with Marvel! do they really have the guts to crush every Spidey fan's dream?

Sony will do what they think will get them money, which means that will probably make a stupid decision that will lose them more money (I'm not only bitter about Spidey, but what they are doing with MIB and Ghostbusters as well. Sony has no idea what to do with anything).

When they deliver a movie as bad as TASM 2, crushing Spidey fans dreams is second nature to them.

Yeah, but collaborating with Marvel will get them money without risking a worse flop than TASM2. They're dumb, but the bottom line is the bottom line. I just like seeing all these reports that the deal is done. No guarantees one way or the other, but still, it's encouraging as hell.

I've said it before but: there is no way this deal doesn't go through. Sony needs Marvel. Period. They are lost and unable to find their way back. Marvel has changed the game so much that Sony couldn't hope to keep rebooting the character and expect audiences to keep coming. CBM audiences demand more now; more than one character and his villain of the week. If they wish to stay relevant they have to cut a deal.

Financially (and that is ALL Sony cares about...no seriously ALL they care about) the only option that makes sense is to cut a deal. They would do very little work and make quite a bit of money. As of now they are losing money every time they try it their way. Eventually they will lose more than they make and they'll lose the character anyway. A deal is the only way to stay relevant.

So if it hasn't happened yet (and it probably already did) the deal will go through very soon. Sit tight for the announcement.

I just quivered from happiness. It makes me so excited to see someone this confident in the deal happening.

:csad:

I'm sorry you're sad, Daltonio. While I do want the opposite outcome from you, I don't wish you any sadness if the deal does go through. I guess let's just hope that whatever happens, we get some good Spider-Man movies in the future.

Daltonio, if the deal does go through, please don't go away. We like having you here.

if daltonio truly is a spider-man fan he or she will stick around.

Spidey in the MCU would be the best thing for the character at this point. Financially and creatively.

Agree 100%. People are so fixated on keeping Andrew Garfield that they would give up a chance to see Spider-Man join the MCU.

I have to politely disagree here. Preferring one outcome over the other does not a true Spidey fan make.

not what I meant. I'm not gonna stop being a Spider-Man fan if sony continues without the MCU.

I'll still see the movies, but I won't go out of my way to see something like sinister six. I have almost no interest in something like that without Spider-Man. ASM3 with the S6 seems like the right way to go if they continue with the Garfield movies.

Ah I see, sorry for the confusion. And I agree, Sony is absolutely cuckoo for Coco Puffs if they press on.

I am honestly not all that excited about the prospect of MCU Spider-Man like some. I'd prefer solo films where he's the main attraction, not a bit-piece. I don't think picking up bat and ball and rebooting all the time is the way to go. Bond never does it - they ride the journey out with their man. If a film is less favourably received, they simply make another movie with renewed focus. Case in point Skyfall following Quantum of Solace. I don't see why the same can't happen here, even though I'm a TASM2 fan. I think Garfield and Sally Field are excellent. I'd follow the new series but would feel a little jaded.

I think marvel realizes just how big the character is and would handle things accordingly.

Sony and Marvel could come to a deal similar to Hulk with Universal and he'd not only get the attention with his own solos but he'd also become a center piece for future team up films in future phases. Sony would distribute the final product while Marvel has full creative control of what happens in the movies to continue the universe as they see fit.

Exactly. Marvel could make a mint out of Spider-Man. They know how to make money, even with sub par movies like Thor 2. Spider-Man has the billion potential with Marvel.

Under normal circumstances I would agree. All it takes is a good movie to really put the franchise back on top and give it a good name again. But I don't think Sony is really capable at this point of doing that.

According to leaked e-mails, Spider-Man would be getting solo films like any of the other main Marvel characters. In fact, it was being requested by Marvel/Disney to have solo films out in time for Avengers: Infinity War part 1 and 2. They would handle him very well.

Thinking about a Marvel Spider-Man film is just mouth watering. It also makes me sad because I worry that we won't get to see it happen. :(

Seriously, I don't want to think about seeing another Sony Spider-Man film ever again.

All I want is another Spider-Man movie to be critically acclaimed. Its been way to long.

You and me both. Once bitten, twice shy, third time stupid as they say.

Over 10 years now. Hard to believe.
