John Campea likes to feel important, he doesn't know anything more than we do.

I agree with you 100%. I loathe that Joker connection to Batman in B'89. It stinks of cheap plot contrivance and added nothing worthwhile to the movie other than a cheap reason for Batman to beat Joker up badly (as if he needed an excuse for that after all the murders Joker committed and terrorized and abducted Vicki).

Even the script writer of the movie, Sam Hamm, disowned it:

But my point was Joe Chill and Jack Napier are two different characters. Chill was a random mugger like in Batman Begins and the comics. Napier is a Burton made up hood who becomes the Joker.

I'm not saying I like the idea of Joker killed Bruce's parents. Prefer Chill but I always liked the "I made you, you made me first"

I haven't watched the AMC channel in over six months. It is utterly ridiculous how they downplay the negativity surrounding the big budget, blockbuster films. Clearly, there is a big agenda with that show. They also won't play up the rumors or read into things too deeply, which is a good thing, but not when it's because studio sponsors start dropping you for doing so.

Campea still has that old "it's impossible" mindset we all used to have before the leaks. Oh and he doesn't know jack poop obviously, dude was convinced Jamie Alexander has been cast as WonderWoman lmao.

The whole thing with making the Joker the killer of Batman's parents (and killing off the Joker) was to make Batman a self contained story and grabbing elements from Batman lore because there was no guarantee that there would be sequels. It's the same thing with Spider-Man, starting out with MJ and the Green Goblin.

Now, movies are being set up as franchises in mind and Marvel now does extensive planning in mapping out their films.

Well, Monday is the 19th. The supposed date of the 'Summit'.

It is also a holiday. I don't think it will be happening tomorrow.

Agreed. The ASM movies have made a big mess of things and now it is time that they stop wasting Spider-Man movies and give Marvel the franchise.

It has been very long since I was excited for a Spider-Man film.

That's how I really see it. I watch the Marvel movies and they're great fun. It's a universe based on a comic universe where Spider-Man exists. Then I watch Sony's version of Spider-Man and I feel distanced. I'm just wasting 2 hours in a theater. I'm thinking, why is Tony Stark funnier than Spider-Man? Now Civil War is being adapted and it would be cool to see Spidey in that. But no. They couldn't get their act together. So Marvel continues to roll on and Sony spins its wheels.

It's not just seeing the crossovers, which would be cool, particularly now that Daredevil and Kingpin (still a Spidey villain to me, dammit) are joining the MCU. Marvel shows they know how to handle solo films too. I want definitive solo Spider-Man films. Sony has had 5 shots. They came close in their first 2 films, failed miserably with their last 3. I think Marvel has a better shot at giving us those definitive Spidey solo films.

I don't get it. For Sony, the deals with Marvel I see look less risk with more potential gain for Sony.

I don't think they'll ever be a time when I think a Spider-Man movie is a complete waste of my time. I even enjoyed aspects of SM3. But yes, I would like to have a complete movie experience with Spider-Man similar to what I had with TDK and SM2.

I never had a problem with MJ first and Goblin throwing her off the bridge.

Anyone who has a problem with it, I just use the Ultimate Spider-Man defense since it happened in that.

I know there is a photo somewhere of Tobey on set with Raimi reading an Ultimate Spider-Man comic from Spider-Man 1 but I can't find it.

I personally don't care how they use the lore, if it makes sense with the story and the theme, that's why i don't mind the mandarin ...

I don't think AMC have any insider info.

Yeah, I don't think he does either. To be fair, he's always maintained that he felt that Sony would make ASM 3 despite all of the turmoil around the franchise and at Sony. I haven't heard his latest thoughts, but I assume he feels that Sony is ultimately gonna keep Spiderman and follow through with another film. I doubt that its based off of any insider information but more of what he predicts will happen.

Has John Campea seen that report on the declining Spidey movie profits? That alone shows how stupid Sony would be to push forward with the current franchise.

I had a problem with the Mandarin for 2 reasons, neither has to do with the lore:

1. When you have Sir Ben Kinglsy in these ads all badass, why would you not have him be the villain?

2. It's another big business guy villain in an Iron Man film. First one had Stane, second had Hammer, this has Killlain.

John campea seems certain that Spider-Man in the MCU isn't happening.

Wonder if he's on to something, he'd know people for sure

Isn't he the one who started the "ASM2 will be Spider-Man's Dark Knight" hype?

Honestly Iron man is great I love him but his last two movies were just.... ehhh. One could call it drone man the movie. All in all I hope with spiderman if marvel gets him we have the villians treated with respect. Also where the frick frack is Red skull? He is like Caps arch nemesis. I find it odd how he's not really anywhere even in the second cap movie all the talk of hydra he never appeared.

Exactly it makes sense because all the villains in the Ironman movies aren't superhuman, they are the suits behind the terroism.
Ben Kingsley did both of his parts rather well, he was the face of the ten rings to the world and his trevor part too, it made sense with the Iron Man movies... Also with TWS ,the main theme of both movies are that the bad guys are not always who you think they are

I understand how that can be a neat concept but not for Batman. I don't like to think of Joker being responsible for creating Batman. Batman creating Joker though, that is definitely an idea that works and works well. Joker is the logical reaction to Batman's presence in Gotham.

Oh yeah he did. LOL! Totally forgot about that. That's his credibility shot to smithereens.

Yea but I mean it worked out way better in IM1 considering Stane was a friend to Tony's father and a father figure to Tony.

Killian and Hammer were competition to Tony.

With um the character Robert Redford played. He was the head of SHIELD I believe. A friend to Nick Fury and Cap. That made sense and worked well.

I don't think Marvel really has any plans for him to return at this point. Maybe a cameo for Infinity War. I know Hugo Weaving isn't really interested in returning to play Red Skull, even though he signed a multi-picture contract.

Isnt he like marvels third most evil villain? Or atleast top 10

Most have him the top 5/10. I think if Marvel wanted him in another movie, they would have by now. Even if Weaving didn't want to come back, they're not reluctant to recast the character.

We all do. Except for maybe Daltonio :oldrazz: :woot:
You know me so well. :cwink:

Anyways, even as much as I like John Campea, he's just speculating like the rest of us, he doesn't have any info.

Despite his previous comments about not wanting to return, I just heard an interview with him last month or so where he said if things lined up right, he'd be willing to come back. But he mentioned that he hasn't had any talks about it with Marvel.

Yeah, probably more like:

1. Doom
2. Thanos
3. Magneto
4. Apocalypse
5. Loki
6. Doc Ock
7. Kingpin
8. Red Skull
9. Green Goblin
10. Kang
11. Galactus
12. Ultron

At least, in my opinion.

I don't think at the time when he did that interview back in 2012 that he knew the success Marvel was going to have with this Cinematic Universe. Maybe the past few years have changed his mind. I personally don't see Marvel bringing him back unless it's in Infinity War.
