Yes, I was a bit disappointed in that. I haven't seen Interstellar so I can't comment on that part.

Guardians and Days of Future Past definitely deserved their nominations, but as much as I liked TWS as a movie, nothing in terms of the visual effects blew me away as much as quite a few parts of TASM2, most notably the final fight against Electro.

Exactly. And I think Dawn of the Planet of the Apes got a nom too and it definitely didn't break any new ground in the VFX department.

Both the Electro fights were awesome. It really drove home the point that Spidey is more concerned with saving people than taking out the villain and injuring a lot more people in the process.

That's another thing that bothered me... in the final act, they turned Peter into a dumbo, just to give Gwen a valid reason to be a part of the final battle.. Peter shouldn't have to rely on Gwen to help him. it made sense in TASM1, but it doesn't make sense in this movie.
but that's not the point.

Yeah, I guess Electro would have fried Spidey, had Gwen not showed up. but her death was still very much, her own fault.
So I guess you could say Gwen sacrificed herself to save Spider-Man. :funny:

Nope, Peter needed someone to pull the switch while he fought Ereko, who could've helped him besides Gwen? Harry? No, The Avengers? Avi Arad.

Yeah the action in TWS was really good better then DOFP but the special effects didn't blow me away either the hand to hand fighting was great though with cap and the winter solder and yes the power plant fight was special!

Wow that high and you haven't watched it yet on dvd! Did you only see it once in theaters then or sever times? Yeah the CGI in asm2 was while amazing and I would take it and its action over just about any action in any other movies this year. The power plant fight is to me the best action in a movie this year and don't even get me started on how great the web swing looked! Yes interstellar did look great and so did dawn of the apes. I think dawn of the apes was the best movie form last year and I think it is a kind of movie that will aged greatly like a Jurassic park when it comes to CGI and such. I think asm2 should be nominated for best soundtrack has while but it is not.

I became busy with other stuff. Plus, ASM2 is the kind of film wherein you have to be in a certain mood to see it. I would give it that Oscar nom. Just for the swinging scene in the beginning alone.

Well, that's it for now guys. It was good talking with you all. Gonna rest now, there's Pax South tomorrow :toth

Woah, that's not very much of a difference, lol. :wow: I figured the '03 one would be a lot lower than the '08 one.

So did I lol. The 03 one was confusing and boring and I hated the comic book multiple screen fad out thing and the movie was just a treable terable movie form what I remember but grantied it has been a long long time sinces I last saw that movie.

Avi could have easily put on the Venom suit, and pulled the switch :argh:

EDIT : Too late :funny:
:funny: I'm sorry. Thanks anyways!!

I LOVED the first fifteen minutes, the persecution! Just beautiful. Nothing can beat that for me.

I still haven't seen DOFP..
I'm still pretty pissed at them for not making X-Men First class 2, and bringing back the old cast.

Watch it man! it's definitely more of a first class sequel than anything else. 80% of the film, give or take, is in the past.

Really, this is the best part of Webb's series of films...their chemistry & interaction.

Planning to watch it some time in the future or just no interest? I'd definitely recommend it.

Emma Gwen is the only good part about ASM movies. Now her character is dead there's nothing worthwhile left.

Because i'm too lazy to skim through the last dozens of pages, have we had any earth-shattering news?

Aren't they basically obligated to announce something soon?

Such a drought... An announcement would liven up these boards.

That a joke or what?

The last fight against Electro came off as a total cartoon to me... lots of shiny ray-throwing, the CG Spidey taking the electricity like it was nothing, etc. Just the opposite of exhilarating, since nothing came across as "real". What definitely stands out, imo, was the swinging animation. That thing Spidey does of pulling himself along the strand in full swinging while he's caught up in the gravity... thought that was brilliant. You can tell a ton of work went into it.

That's not how physics work.. swinging in TASM2 was too unrealistic and cartoony, it was the exact opposite of TASM1's swinging scenes.
