Hopefully if Marvel get Spider-man back the goblin can look like this.

No offense, but I'd gladly take TASM2 or Raimi over that design.

Raimi's style is cheesy, but it's a more earnest cheese. It's like the silver age comics. The little montages of New Yorkers reactions and the spinning news paper headlines were great touches.

And the tone was consistent. Plus in the first two films the emotional beats were fantastic. The finale scene of the first film at the cemetary with Elfman's score still gives me goosebumps.

ASM2 the tone was all over the place and it just had this cynical "my **** don't stink" vibe.

You're right, I did react a bit negatively. Sorry.

I do respect your opinion though. I'm a big fan of the Raimi films too, I was just surprised as the swinging scenes just don't hold up as well to me anymore.

IDK why the hell they didn't use this. i mean, it looks a little cheesy, but add in tons more detail and make him look scarier and boom you have the perfect goblin design.

Well it was only a test mask, I'm sure they would've added more to it. It's the fact that they made a perfect Goblin mask that actually showed the actors emotion just like the comics.

Raimi's Goblin was such a missed opportunity it's sad.

I really hated those deleted goblin scenes, save for a few seconds in each. I thought it was perfect how they showed the goblins face the way they did in the final act, so im glad they were deleted. Also, they were cheesy as hell. Very lame scenes IMO, good thing they were deleted.

that animatronic goblin is great, but I would have to see it with a proper goblin hood before deciding if it's good enough for the movie. I mean, I feel like 70% sure it could work but there's just a little something that's off about it... it looks a little too big. I feel that they could get a much better result if it was simply make up with prosthetics and then in the reality of the movie it's a mask

also, can someone explain to me how the Raimi suit is less comicbook-accurate than the TASM2 costume? the spider symbols in the Raimi suit are much closer to the comic book (small 90% equally proportional front spider, and a bigger fatter back spider)

Those deleted scenes would have helped with the much needed character development for Harry's character. it also explains why Harry didn't help Electro kill Spider-Man (which was a common complaint among critics). he was out doing his own thing aka destroying Oscorp and killing Menken.
Point is, those scenes were very much needed

I hate the fact that Sony used classic spidey costume but they were too insecure to adapt classic goblin look, or while we are at it doing the Green Goblin, there is a video out there from the makeup artists that said (im paraphrasing )"The production time limitations didn't give us time to try other designs" and said the same thing about WETA, even the first poster doesn't have the final glider design, that telks me he was an afterthought...

It seems like once again they shoved an important villain (the most important villain imho) at the last minute and they f***ed up his storyline just to have the scene of Gwen dying with the green goblin they didn't even get Norman to do it...

This is definitely what Marvel should shoot for if they ever get the rights back. In an age were we have Hulk, Thanos, Groot, Rocket Racoon, and others I can't think of right now appearing accurately on film, there's no excuse why we can't finally get a comic accurate Goblin in the films. This is where Webb really dropped the ball to me.
