Actually, it was more of an incorrect assumption of what I thought could happen based upon Steve Wacker's responses in the letters pages (Course, now that I believe MJ not only acquired spider-powers from Peter as a result of him taking MJ into the protective bubble when Dr. Strange cast the mindwipe spell during One Moment in Time instead of the "spider-flu," and given my track record on predictions, I'm probably also wrong on that one, as well).

Venom's only good appearances were the first 2 in ASM #299/300 & ASM #316/317.... after that, the character became a one-trick pony and got boring really fast.

You know who I felt should have been Venom from the very beginning? Lance Bannon. After all, here was a character who was already depicted as being Peter Parker's polar opposite, a rival photographer, and, because of that rivalry, neither of them liked each other much already. Eddie Brock, even though Peter supposedly knew him, was a character the readers never heard of prior to this and who--unlike the symbiote--had a weak motivation for hating Spider-Man (seriously, he's angry that Spidey caught the real Sin-Eater and, unknowingly, embarrassed him because he got the story wrong about who the Sin-Eater was).

I love what's going on with Flash & the symbiote, so I hope we get to see more of this for a few years...

I agree. Flash Thompson being the new Venom is probably of the most exciting, clever, and interesting developments to happen to both characters in long time.

Absolutely.

I don't get some people. For years, Venom was a pariah from the 90's now everybody is clamoring for him to become Venom again because it took somebody else to make the concept of Venom cool again. That's not really fair to Flash who is a long time SM supporting character that outside of losing his legs in a flashback story, has done nothing notable in the past 15yrs. The last time I found him this interesting was when he dated the Black Cat in the early 90's and that even got stale quick.

Let Flash have his time in the sun, fellas. There's no reason for him to go back to doing nothing in obscurity so quickly. Eddie's got the Anti-Venom gig. It's a cool concept that hasn't been used as much as it should have over the past few years.

yup... in slott's world apparently we can only "like everything" hell... in fact, ive even stated before several times, that I don't dislike slott for the faults of writers before him, however... i do dislike the way he conducts himself on the boards TO his fans. I was actually a fan of his (and would still be) if he actually never posted on here.... problem is, he did, and has been nothing but disrespectful to the Marvel fans who arn't happy.

I completely support this. But I do not support the notion (from others) that we arn't allowed to have an opinion unless it's positive. These message boards are for discussions of all kinds. Insults and attacks, and put downs, however I do not agree with.

Interestingly, I think both the people behind Spider-Man: The Animated Series and Sam Raimi & Alvin Sargent of Spider-Man 3 would agree with you, as in both of those adaptations, Eddie Brock seems to be a composite of Eddie Brock from the comics and Lance Bannon. And J.R. Fetinger of Spidey Kicks Butt! also agrees with you, saying just that in his article on Venom, The Dark Side of the Spider.

Dude, one I'm much more of an ass than a tool, try and be accurate. Two tone isn't needed when something has been clearly explained multiple times in multiple posts. Dan was mad at him for coming up with a theory that wasn't correct. He talked down to him and said in no uncertain terms that he should just shut up and stop posting his theories because they weren't correct enough of the time. He wasn't telling the people that misconstrue the theories into facts they should shut up, he was telling the person that came up with the theory he should shut up. Go back and read these statements before you comment on them cause it may in retrospect make you seem like a tool.

If you want to have a conversation about spider-man go ahead. Say anything you want. But you chose to comment on my post and then whine about how you wish you could talk about something else. You know what? You can! Just go right ahead. Unlike dan slott I will not tell you to shut up or keep your thoughts to yourself, but don't whine to me that I'm like not letting you talk. Some statements get more replies and play than others. This is because either A. The other topic and statements were more controversial then yours or more worthy of comment or B. Your statement just wasn't interesting enough for others to mention.

FYI, Remender has already said and it's been brought up in this thread that Flash will continue as venom and eddie will be a supporting character. I believe the term his yoda was used. Eddie may or may not have to give up his anti symbiote at the conclusion of this storyline.
