Yeah, they could have kept her more humanized instead of making her a fortune telling robot like the other old bag.
Seriously. Julia already had psychic powers in the form of her psi-webs. Just amp those up and she could've been a more active Madame Web capable of doing some of her own legwork. And hell, keep calling her Arachne while you're at it. Really, just forget about the fortune-telling altogether and leave Julia the hell alone. :cmad:

Agreed.

Off-Topic: If you ask me, Julia Carpenter always had the better Spider-Woman costume.

Then Venom double-jacked it from him.

But Julia's Arachne costume was pretty cool too. Subtly different enough to be new yet with enough similarities to remind people that she was the original black-suited spider-character.

Jessica Drew's sucks just for the main fact that there's absolutely nothing "spider" about it...

I always liked Jessica's costume, I think it's stood the test of time pretty well. It does have a spider theme to it with the big white spider-eyes and the design on the chest (usually obscured by her tig ol bitties :awesome:).

You mean her implants:p:

Anyways, the spider theme is barely there.

yeah, i looked online and only rare tropical spider's are even red/yellow.. so i have no clue where that came from. Her mask is far more HYDRA based than spider... and it really looks horrible whenever anyone has translated it from 2D (her figures and cosplay costumes always look off). She needs a tweak, but im not sure what i'd actually do to tweak it...

Agreed.

Okay, here's a question that was brought to my attention:

In this issue, we're told, by no less than the Jackal himself, that if Peter falls into the vat of Anti-Venom goop, he'll end up losing all his powers. Yet when Kaine--who remember is Peter's clone and therefore an exact DNA match, as proven by the fact he's able to access Horizon Labs via the biometric scanners that are specifically keyed in to identify Peter--falls into the vat of Anti-Venom goop, somehow he was still able to keep his spider-powers despite being cured of both his mutation and clone degeneration. So, how did THAT work? I guess it was...

Only because she was so irrelevant for 30 years that no one bothered to change it. :o

Well....I suppose if you think about it...he is an exact clone of peter AFTER peter got bit. SO he was "born" with the "mutation" in which case it wouldn't be a mutation, it's his original DNA...not something brought on by radiation. It's a stretch.

By definition a mutation is a change in your dna. Being born with something that makes you abnormal in any fashion whether good or bad makes you a mutant. If something would unkey a mutation sequence it wouldn't matter if you had it all your life or nanoseconds.

What have I told you guys about giving the writers the answers to holes the readers find :cmad:? Stop giving them an easy out doing the work for them!

Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Peter had already mutated once with the Queen, and had reverted back to "normal", and Kaine, already mutated, went back to his former sense of "normal"...

It's all I got.... :o

I am really loving this Spider-Island! I think Dan has done a great job picking up various "threads" (sorry for the pun) of previous continuity. I think this is a much better job of connecting the "spider" charactersthan Grim Hunt. There's Venom & Anti-Venom, to boot! It even weaves the Spider Slayers and the Jackal and his clones into the story naturally as well as JJJ. Great job with the id of scientist #6, especially since he did show up again recently in the comics. Heck, I even love the Queen & the spiders angle, and I didn't care for the original story, since they had done the whole Man-Spider thing to Pete before this a couple of times.

And a agree with everyone about the apparent direction for Kaine. If this is true, and we now have a new Spider-Man (in the guise of the Scarlet Spider or whatever), this is another single Spider-Man. (the original reason for the Clone Saga of the 90's) So now, if Marvel has this single Spider-Man, is it possible for our Pete to be... :cwink: :woot:

(at least get back together with (possible now) the Amazing MJ?) :woot:

Dug just about everything, except...

...the apparent death of the Jackal. Hopefully, that was a clone he set-up just in case. Hate to finally have him back, only to kill him off right away.

Totally. Haven't read the issue yet and totally got spoiled! I won't be able to live with myself! :wow::oldrazz:

No, seriously...haven't read the issue yet but I'm anxiously awaiting my DCBS box to come today so I can dive in. From the rumors I've heard from friends and just from quickly going through the boards here looks like this issue may change my mind on dropping the title.

It's arguably the best issue of Spider-Island... in my opinion...

Oh in terms of plot developments and twists, I'd agree. Too bad there were times where Ramos' art looked cluttered and confusing. Course when it came to the cover...:D;)
