The amazing thread of Uniforms and Logos part 1

it just doesn't feel like a Jag uni to me without some gold on it

Yeah, it's the only color that even closely resembles a Jag. Not saying there are blue lions and orange bears in the real world, but you know.

Team Mexico beat the Twins last night, oh wait, those were the Red Sox.

At least they "recycled" the St. Patrick's Day Uni's to show environmental awareness.

Which can't be said of some NBA teams during that whole going green thing they did. *Cough* Chicago Bulls *Cough*.

What a waste of an update, Jacksonville.

There was seriously no reason to change the jerseys. None.

The new Jags uni is fugly. It doesn't correspond well with their helmet except for that teal tongue of the Jagura. Seriously, why do they use teal so much?

A fan's take on the Jags new uniforms. These would have been a million times better:

This is WAY better, at least it has the old jaguras on the arm.

The Helmet also has a paint on it that appears black, but when it is hit by light, it gives off a teal hue. :fail:

Some good news out of Edmonton. Those new uni's look more like pajamas. They should just go retro all the time. Bring back the whites and blues from the 1980's!

The Edmonton Oilers unfortunately can't turn back the clock and put Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier in those orange-and-blue jerseys.

But retro is back, and in a big way.

The Oilers will change their home look for the 2009-10 season, playing 27 times in the orange-and-blue from their glory days. The copper-and-blue will only be worn 14 times at Rexall Place.

"The dark blue will become our third jersey, as was Todd McFarlane's former design (blue and silver with the gears on the sweater)," said Oilers president and CEO Patrick LaForge. "The road whites will stay the same."

Maybe the Oilers should wear the whites home and away. They were considerably more dangerous away from Rexall this past season.

I'd love to see the Islanders do the same, and get rid of those orange armed abominations we have now. The retro sweaters they wore this past year were great.

Now the NHL just needs to go back to wearing the white jerseys at home, as it's supposed to be.

I thought the Isle's were gonna go with the alternate's full time at home next year? Which if they do is a win.

I like the dark jersey's, but I agree, constantly seeing Bruins home games as black vs white is boring. Let's get some more color back into the game!

I havent seen that anywhere.

The Islanders are “working with the NHL to clear their vintage mid-’70s jerseys as their primary uniform for next season. It figures to be an uphill battle, probably because there’s inventory of their first RBK uniform ’systems’ still around. Nevertheless, the Islanders are pushing to make the move. Worse-case scenario: the Islanders wear their once-and-future jerseys for 20 games next year and then go full-time in 2010-11″

Nice. I read Botta's blog pretty often, not sure how I missed that one? Always loved the royal blue over the navy blue, and the orange arm stripes were enough to give you nausea

Hopefully this means we'll get a white throwback as well.

Cant wait to order my Tavares retro jersey....

I think that post on there was from like January or something like that. Or it could be a Hedman jersey.

Yeah the Giant Orange arm stripes are over the top. I think they wouldn't be nearly as bad if they were in Blue on the whites. I may have to photoshop that to see what it'd be like.

I don't think that patch on the back of the Skankees hat is big enough. I mean you can hardly see it?

From Saturn.

i think that's just the teal flakes in the paint.

but i actually like them

Yeah, it's just teal metallic flakes, like you'd find in custom paint jobs on hot rods. The flakes look fairly fine (in terms of size) and gives the helmet a much more dynamic look than just plain black.

that's what i like about it. the uni redesign is kinda plain-ish so this will help a lil

Yeah, the uniforms should have been thrown out. Ugh, and with marketing these days, these damn uni's are going to be around for a while when they should be dumped immediately like Pittsburgh's "Batman" uni's from the 60's.

All I can say is im in love yes LOVE with the Jags new uni.

That is all.

New 49ers uniforms. Looks like they just borrowed Arizona's old set & removed the state flag from the sleeves. Speaking of sleeves, I don't know what they were trying to accomplish with those stripes, but they failed.

The triple stripes are nothing new. Those have been on their unis for a while now. Basically they just took the three stripes and put them on their jerseys from the 1980's.

I'm not talking about the triple stripes. Those are fine, but look at them a little closer. They're slanted.
