The amazing thread of Uniforms and Logos part 1

Nearly half a year away from the '09 season starting up and you're already asking about changes in 2010?

The Falcons will reportedly wear these throwbacks next season:

Looks more like the AFL throwbacks they'll be wearing.

I believe the Patriots are implementing a red alternative jersey outside of the simply the AFL Throwbacks, though.

I haven't heard anything about that, plus I think there's a limit to how many uniforms an NFL team can wear a season. I've never seen a team wear 4 different jerseys, especially 2 of the same color.

If the rumors about the falcons new throwback uni's are true, then they'll have 4 jerseys with Red, White, Black, and the throwbacks.

Can't be done. A team can only have three jerseys. A home, an away, and a alternate.

This.

Meaning teams using throwbacks in 2009, like the Patriots, Broncos, and many others, would have to eliminate their usual alternate jersey in favor of the throwbacks.

Hmmm, that's why some teams wear their throwbacks more than once. Interesting. Kind of a stupid rule though.

Stop the presses, apparently the Pats may be wearing 4 sets of uni's this year. According to the article below they have their regular Uni set in both Blue and White and the throwbacks have both Red and White. The Silver Alt Uni has been ditched. Thank God.

The Patriots will be wearing a "throwback" jersey this year as part of the celebration of the team's 50th anniversary season, which coincides with the NFL's celebration of the founding of the American Football League. And now, it appears they will be wearing the retro duds more than anticipated.

The original plan was for the team to wear throwback uniforms three times during the upcoming season, including the season-opening Monday Night Football game at Gillette Stadium against the Buffalo Bills (Sept. 14, 7 p.m.), another original AFL team. But the Patriots' vice president in charge of media relations, Stacey James, said Thursday that the throwback schedule has been upped to four games, and requests have been made to the NFL to include a fifth.

The Patriots play two original AFL teams as part of their AFC East schedule, the Bills and New York Jets (who began life as the New York Titans). They are also playing two other original-AFL teams this year, the Denver Broncos and the Tennessee Titans (originally the Houston Oilers).
The Patriots' throwback jerseys are solid red with white untrimmed letters and numerals and a blue-white-blue striping pattern on the shoulders, reminiscent of the mid-1960s uniforms worn by the team. There is also a white-jersey version.

You just wait until Goodell hears of this!

I hated those silver alternates. I don't think they've worn them for a couple of years, but glad to get word of their demise. They looked like their regular white uniforms would look after rolling around in dirt.

In Atlanta's case, they would set aside their black uniforms. The standard look is black helmet, red jersey, white pants.

Hey, it's the Patriots, they'll have the uniform rule modified just for them to keep the peace between Belicheck and Goodel, for a battle between those two would bring certain destruction to the entire universe!
