I don't think they'll stay as villains either.
They'll probably switch sides by the 3rd act and help the Avengers overcome impossible odds... Then again, it's also possible their switch to the good side doesn't come until a follow-up movie.

That's what I think. They'd be kind of crap as permanent villains.
