It would be pretty crazy to see Thanos get the cube from Loki in AOU. It actually might happen, and itll be the first step to Infinity War.

And maybe Thanos planted the program that becomes Ultron as well, to weaken the Avengers or break them up, he knew Tony's hubris would make him believe he could perfect the program, when really, it was corrupted right from the start

I'd love if we see that Thanos has been manipulating all of this behind the scenes
it'd be a nice big 'F U' to the people who say he seems incompetent and weak so far

I think its more likely that ULTRON originated with the US government or SHIELD. He may have even been just a non-military software program that Tony found. I dont think hes cosmic related.

Actually, interestingly little nugget, but the Ant-Man Prelude comic yesterday fueled my theory that we're gonna find out Pym initially began work on Ultron but stopped.

In the 60's Pym worked for SHIELD under Howard Stark and Peggy Carter, and was shown to be combative with Stark when it was suggested that they begin using the Ant-Man suit for missions because Hank believed his tech could cause great harm if it ever fell into the wrong hands.

I can easily see a situation where he began work on something like Ultron and then shelved it out of paranoia about what could go wrong.

Ultron began as a PEACEKEEPING Program someone else designed. Who that was, we'll find out. In a recent article, i think E. Olsen says that ULTRON wants peace in the movie, its just wiping out humanity is his solution to get there. He sees The Avengers as hypocrites and idiots because they fight to save people but dont really want anything drastic to change in society. Ultron wants to do what noone else will.

I could see it being that Stark is studying how all the Chitauri were linked while having great autonomy. They were obviously all on the same program since once the mother ship was destroyed they all dropped dead (conveniently...). It might be a good way to explain away that piece of criticism.

I am not really expecting it to have much (or anything) to do with the Chitauri tech, however.

I would love to see Pym have a brief cameo in AoU. Maybe he could warn Stark about the danger of his invention, which Stark ignores. The close proximity of the sceptre to the Ultron programme in Starks lab suggests that this will play a role in giving Ultron consciousness.

I don't want to see Ultron just be a computer programme/AI. I want him to be a unique, conscious individual who can't be brought down by a computer virus etc. His destruction needs to be equally unique involving characters like Vision and SW who can penetrate his vibranium shell and destroy him at the molecular level.

The only flaw in that is that it reduces everyone else to just Drone cleanup duty...

The idea of a combined attack is ok depending on how its played. In Avengers all team members contributed to the battle with the Chitauri, but the contributions weren't equal (e.g. Thor & Hulk did a lot of damage and Iron Man took down the mother ship).

I would like to see Vision, SW and QS be the ones who destroy Ultron as it would confirm the importance of the new characters to the MCU. We know Hawkeye will be friends with the twins and it would be nice to see him get a chance to shine as well. Hulk took out Loki so would prefer a different character to bash Ultron (probably Thor and/or Cap). It looks like Iron Man and Widow will get lots of screen time so I don't want them to be the ones to destroy Ultron. I guess everyone has their preferences and these are just mine

The more powerful the villain, the more powerful the person or people will have to be to defeat him. I dont think Tony, Bruce, Cap or Thor will be able to do it. Itll take some "Age of Miracles" pizzazz. Once Ultron is vibranium, all bets are off.

You can't beat Ultron with brute strength. You can weaken him and stall him, but you can't destroy him unless you find some type of virus or whatever that can pretty much make him dormant. Unless the Hulk has gloves made out of Kaspersky he ain't doing dick.

I can really imagine a Cap shield+Thor hammer strike decapitating Ultron, but that would be too mundane and down to earth for the SW/Ultron fanboys, right? t:#joking

It should really take a toll on her to the point where she is visibly struggling and the spot should be so miniscule that you think "what good will that do"? Have Hulk, Thor, IM, and Vision keeping him distracted so he doesnt notice. Then Clint of all people is able to hit the opening thats like a few centimeters wide with whatever techno babble stark comes up with.. hmmm and id figure out a way to include quicksilver and cap as well lol.
