Going back to my secret wish of Coulson being Mar-Vell, I would love it if it were the Kree.

Imagine this, a specific unit of the Kree sent in to scout out earth after being alerted to the presence of the cosmic cube, a source of power and energy that could be used in their war with the Skrulls. These Kree have infiltrated as sleeper agents and have bided their time until the cube is within reach.

The end conflict could be their escape plan, some sort of devestating doomsday weapon to distract as they escape with the cube. Anyway, movie plays out, they get thwarted but warn the coming of a great war and they shall be destroyed.

Then, end credits scene, Fury talking to Coulson, Fury leaves and Coulson powers on Mar-Vell style :P

I just think it'd be totally cool if, after SHIELD and earth think the Kree are a serious threat, one of their allies turns out to be a Kree warrior. In Avengers 2 he could get incarcerated by Fury and interrogated. Then, the Skrull or Thanos can come to earth and Mar-vell becomes an ally in the end. I could definitely see something like that working really well and blowing the whole Marvel cosmic universe wide open.

Pure fantasy though, wishful thinking :P

:awesome::word:

Alright, so I think Pony Boy pretty much turned us away from Skrulls. The Kree seem like a reasonable option, but he also said its not a group of invaders as big. So no Celestials, no Deviants, and possibly not The Inhumans either. Anyone got any other ideas for a group of invaders in which each member of the group has a name & a personality?

Well actually Spideyboy, with that in mind, and if they DO want to do an Inhumans movie, they could go with kinda what Alexei is suggesting but a little different... Maybe, without Ronan being involved, they ARE sent by the Kree (who maybe aren't named until the end) but after the defeat, that's when they break away.

Speaking of Ronan, I'd get so f***** excited if we find out that he's actually in the Avengers.

Coulson as Mar-Vell (or Mar-Vell appearing in any capacity) opens up the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The good Captain's appearance would be the perfect lead-in to the planned Guardians of the Galaxy series. There are countless ways to use Mar-Vell as a springboard for the introduction of other characters and stories. He is tied intimately to the Thanos, as well, which would make introducing the Mad Titan so much simpler. However they accomplish it, I think that getting Captain Marvel on board is important to the future development of the MCU.

The biggest boost would be that everyone really love Coulson, and it would make giving Mar-Vell a solo movie really easy, because people would feel like they already know him.

but the inhumans from my understanding.. are pretty adamant about NOT following Kree orders... they also wouldn't be sent for anything... they're half human.

Yeah, but say in this film, they're designed as sleeper agents, like the comics, and are just following orders, perhaps even misled by Loki, and whatever events unfold, by the end they escape and defect the Kree or whatever. If they're portrayed as sympathetic villains, who we KNOW have been misled, it wouldn't undermine them as characters so much.

Not saying I'm a proponent of this theory, I'd prefer Kree, but just playing devils advocate for the sake of objectivity.

Then they could eventually do Nova! :awesome: and then we wipe away all memory of Green Lantern :p

that all being said... it appears to me, the most likely candidate is a small group of kree soldiers

So Captain America is taking on two of these guys at the same time? O_O lol...they suck :p

@Marvel Freshman,

Was that a smile of approval or a smile of "Well, funny you say that...."

Seriously, Coulson of Mar-Vell would make me hoot louder than anything else in this movie and I know I'm not the only fan to think that way. I would so freakin' annoyed if that rumour about
Son of Coul dying
came true, purely because I think when you have a character, with no comic origin, who is beloved by so many audience members, having a secret reveal where we find out he's greater than all that, and has been all along, that's a more awesome twist or turn than any "I was evil all along!" or other twist could ever be. It would be a totally missed oppurtunity.

I don't know all the mayhem going on in Cleveland, I just feel it has to be something much bigger despite what Poni says. Unless it is a few kree soldiers a few skrulls soldiers and Thanos + Loki :D

They're blowing up New York, I doubt they'll be portrayed as sympathetic :oldrazz:

Spideyboy, is there a sub-group of Kree that have individual recognizable identities in the Marvel Universe? Pony Boy said each individual character was identifiable through a simple Wiki search. I get the feeling this is right under our noses.

well... for the sake of objectivity.. there's still the issue of their powers...

Medusa=prehensile hair
Crystal = controls the elements
Blackbolt = a singe whisper could level new york
Lock Jaw = giant teleporting bulldog
Triton = fishman
Gorgon = can cause earthquakes with his feet
Karnac = the only one skilled in hand to hand combat... his power is to locate weaknesses.

they've never been depicted as "gun toting" or using weapons, because they are weapons.

that much we know alone... doesn't fit into a single thing we've seen in the entire Cleveland shoot.

In EMH Mar-Vell's human alias was Philip Lawson.

Phil Lawson.

Phil Coulson.

:awesome::awesome::awesome:

I just had a realization, what if what Iron Man and Thor fight in the Forest is not Hulk but one of these....or both O_O

I can only imagine that individual kree will make up this group, Marvel, Ronan etc...

I still think we are getting Both Kree and Skrull maybe small groups for each side could be the first wave?

not a sub-group, but there's several notable Kree. (more so than skrulls)
-Ronan the Accuser
-Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell)
-Captain Atlas (Att-Lass)
-Korath the Pursuer (Korath-Thak)
-Ko-Rel (Nova 0001)
-Doctor Minerva
-Noh-Varr
-Shatterstar
-Supreme Intelligence
-Ultimus

Then there's also hybrids
-Ms. Marvel
-Hulkling
-Genis-Vell
-Phyla-Vell
-Nova
-Ultra Girl

LOL imagine if when Clark Greg says he may get a spin-off movie he really means as Captain Mar-vell O_O *drool*

Did he say he might get a spin-off? Maybe he is Mar-Vell! ZOMG!

You know what maybe that could explain why Marvel is pushing for Nova to be in New MArvel Vs. Capcom iteration.....they trying to put that character in the limelight.

Well you know he says it all tongue and cheek you know like he's pushing for it I think he said he's trying to convince them to do it, hell he's always getting asked the question if he will get a spin-off movie :)
