What if Marvel Studios had some movie rights reverted to them as of 1/1/12, and this new (supposed) reshoot has something to do with new character(s) becoming available for Avengers....?
:jabba

who would that be? FF? unlikely. the last FF movie wasn't that far ago. DD? has a movie in production, atm, so that's even more unlikely. GR, X-Men, Spidey? THOSE rights are definatly not with Marvel. Punisher? The rights already reverted years ago...
Blade is the only one left. But would he fit into an Avengers movie? I don't think so.

Just because it's become a normal (and somewhat annoying) trait for me::oldrazz:

Even if FF rights *have* reverted back to Marvel, I strongly doubt they'd go reshooting scenes with a (recast) Richards-Storm-Grimm family; but I just think that *if* it happened, Whedon and/or Feige might want to add some throwaway lines about them lending support behind the scenes or something. Or at the very least, it would mean they could actually call the aliens "Skrulls" instead of "The Redacted." ;)

Yeah I'd think they could reference the F4, Baxter Building, or Dr.Richards.

Blade's already back at Marvel. They announced that back at SDCC last year, I think they also mentioned they were working on something with him.

& I could see the FF or DD rights going back. Fox has been talking about the DD reboot, but they haven't done s*** except hire a director.

Not going to happen.

FF is still over at Fox plus it'd be too much. Talk about fan pandering.

Doctor doom after the credits would be cooler than thanos after the credits. Is it just me?

They've been working on this reboot for over two years it seems and still nothing to show for it. Fox has no rightful claim to the FF or Daredevil rights anymore. They haven't made jack **** with either franchise in years.

Don't get me wrong. I actually want FF, Daredevil, and Spider-Man from Sony all to revert back to Marvel.

They had their run and now it's time for Marvel/Disney to get these franchises back. With that said it still looks like Fox is holding onto FF & Daredevil by keeping them in perpetual "pre-production".

Close to it. I watched an interview with Tom Rothman on December 7th of 2011. Where he mentions they're working on FF.

So despite my problems with the guy I'll take his word over baseless speculation from the "fans".

I wouldn't take that interview as any real indication that they're working on FF at all.

The interviewer asked him about DD and FF, and Rothman goes into a lengthy response about DD and mentions Slade specifically, then *offhand* mumbles "...and Fantastic Four." Sounds more like an outright dodge than anything else.

The last *official* word on FF came 3 years ago, in '09, when they said they were handing the franchise off to Akiva Goldsman of bat-nips "fame." And considering that Akiva has been very busy in the interim and hasn't even remotely hinted at any progress on FF, I'd say it's dead in the water. Or reverted to Marvel.

I don't think we can say for certain anything has reverted to Marvel at all.

But honestly if I'm Disney, I just want to say to Fox, "make us an offer for FF and Daredevil."

The future is for Disney to get all these properties under their roof. OK so maybe not Spider-Man and X-Men anytime soon. But they should want Daredevil and FF back.

It hasn't reverted it's still over at Fox and I'll take Rothmans word over your speculation.

If the rights had reverted he would have simply said "no comment/I can't talk about it" in regards to FF. Instead he said they're working on it.

So I'll defintely take that as an indication that they're working on another crap FF movie.

It doesn't matter whether they're seriously working on FF or not, if they've got it officially listed as 'in development' then they can hold onto the rights.

However, I would wager that they're getting close to the point where if they DON'T have anything to show, then they have to hand over the rights again. They'd be under a lot of pressure with Disney lawyers looming, waiting for a loophole or a slip up.

Except he didn't say "they're working on it." He said simply: "....and Fantastic Four." Apropos of nothing. In other words: a dodge, or a simple realization that he doesn't have a clue what's happening with FF, if anything at all.

I don't like Rothman but are you seriously implying the CEO of the company has no idea as to what's going on with the franchise?

You're telling me the man infamous for his intrusion and meddling with these productions doesn't know whether they're working on it?

Of course he knows. I seriously can't believe you're implying otherwise. That's ridiculous.

They aren't doing jack **** on FF. They are just saying they are so they can hold on to the rights without making an actual movie.

It's like they sued WB over Watchmen despite the lack of any actual ****ing intent to ever make a movie out of that property.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm saying.
Dude, studio heads have *tons* of projects on their plate. They can't (and don't) keep track of each and every one of them --- only the *important* ones. And I'm sure that even if it's *not* in development hell, Fantastic Four is *not* high on Rothman's list of tentpoles for Fox.

To my understanding, they have to have a movie in production by a specific date to retain rights, not just be "working on it." With that said, even if they have no intent on moving forward with the property any time soon, FOX isn't going to let people think they don't have a handle on FF or plans to act on it in the near future. Just some casual BSing that any producer does, in my eyes.

However, the only thing that leads me to believe Marvel would actually have the rights at this point would be the anonymous Marvel 2014 movie's date being pulled back to 4/4/14.

This. iirc Universal had another Hulk film 'in development' right up until the rights reverted.
