If the Central Park "goodbye" shot that we all assume to be the end of the film is any indication, then there's not too many characters who would seem to be facing the chopping block. Cap, Thor, Loki, Banner, Widow, Hawkeye, and Coulson (pretty sure) were all present for shooting. Fury and Maria Hill seemed to be the only ones not there, and one could assume that they're occupied elsewhere. But who knows....maybe Fury is the "blood sacrifice" for Whedon....?!?!:wow:
Not saying this is true , but, SLJ keeps talking about how he is going to do SHIELD movie after The Avengers ,
But, I can t seem to find any information on it ,
Maybe a dodge to cover his death?
Come to think of it, I think Neal Mcdonough has been quoted as saying that he woold join SLJ in such a fil m as Dum Dum Dugan .

I highly doubt Whedon is going to be allowed to kill off any major ( read: salable ) characters. Maybe Maria Hill, but if she's anything at all like the comic version, this would create cheers, not shock.

A question about Wanda and Pietro.
Was the reveal that they are Magneto's Children a Retcon ?
Or, was the original revelation that they were Roberts Franks kids always intended as a cover for the eventual reveal of the truth ?
I am not talking about what the story itself says.
What was the intent of the writers ?
Are there interviews that clarify the matter ?

Coulson wasn't in the Central Park photos that I saw, but we know that he does live. Maybe he, Fury and Hill were off dealing with what remained of the Helicarrier, though.

According to Poniboy, they filmed three alternate endings so the photos from Central Park aren't necessarily part of the end that we'll eventually see. Everything looked pretty neat and tidy there, not at all like there had been a massive pitched battle nearby only hours (days?) before.

Maybe Whedon depicted mass civilian casualties instead of a hero's death. That would certainly be a realistic consequence of the battle. Also, it would provide a good deal of trauma for the main characters. How would Steve Rogers or Tony Stark react to having to watch helplessly as innocent people die? Would they feel guilty? Would that catalyze them on the battlefield, but later cause them to question the entire enterprise? Would Stark react by going back to manufacturing weapons to protect humanity, now that he's encountered a greater threat than earthbound terrorists? Those are the kinds of effects I would like to see explored.

I'm pretty sure that Whedon won't kill anyone of significance off, even if he wants to. All the examples that were cited from Whedon's work are characters pertain to the shows that he created personally, so there's alot more leeway there. But for The Avengers, I'm sure Marvel Studios specifically told him not to kill off major characters, so they will return for other sequels. Maria Hill seems to be the most likely candidate due to the fact that she's a new character so the audience won't feel any attachment if she's killed, but I don't think she's dead in TA either.

I love the idea of Whedon contemplating a fatality in the film. Hopefully its not just wishful thinking & someone is actually KIA.

Drama doesn't get any better than when integral characters in your story start dying.

I've said it before, I would have killed Loki in this one & given the job to Thor.

It could be like that scene in TDK where Batman kills Joker in cold blood

But that didn't come off at all as a sarcastic joke...

although drama does get better when characters die, which is wat happened in TDKR, i want the avengers to steer clear of this plot line cuz overall i want an awesome comic book movie, and not much a drama/melodramatic plot...

lol this is wat i am talkin about, killing some character or even an important character may remove the comic book feel to it and make it more grounded to reality...

No one can take a joke here anymore, jesus.

I'm with you.

He's the quintessential example of someone who thrives off of picking every damn thing apart that he can and fuels himself even more by arguing his point incessantly. An elitist in his own mind, but an absolute pest in ours.

Whedon could kill off Thor, the whole god thing could easily be used to explain him coming back in the Thor sequel

Anyone see Ms Marvels new costume? I don't like it as much as her old one but it'll translate better to the big screen if that's the route they're going. I'd post a pic of it but I'm on my phone.

Personally I'm not a fan of it, even though it probably would translate well.

Wait, they're actually calling her Captain Marvel in the comics now? That's awesome!
