I wish people would shut up about the Iron Man stuff already.

It's stupid. Iron Man was the original founder and leader of the team. There was no Captain America in the original team, he didn't come until later. In this movie it's not even Iron Man as the founder. Iron Man of all the characters in the movie so far is the only one with a billion dollar movie franchise. It is smart to exploit and take advantage of that. Also Downey is really the only A-list movie star in the movie at this point, it is also smart to take advantage of that.

Every indication IMHO to me is that this is not going to be the Iron Man show. However, if the Cap being thawed out of ice scene is not in the movie, yes I will be a little disappointed. So I hope it isn't.

Agreed, people get too bent out of shape on this. From a marketing perspective, the Iron man films made over 600 million domestically which is more than all of the other MCU films combine, so of course they focus on him primarily in the marketing.

Anyone who has watched anything that Joss has done, knows that the one thing he knows how to do well is ensemble films. Everyone is going to have a piece of the action here. People need to chill out.

Newbies, Chill out. The conversation will naturally go back to the Avengers on its own.

This has always been a pet peeve of mine on the Hype. If you want it so badly to talk about The Avengers again, steer it toward that conversation like this:

Which character are you guys anticipating seeing the most in The Avengers?

I must say that it's actually Hulk to me. I think this version of the Hulk will actually be better and more awesome than the last two versions. I'm hyped up to see the Hulk again.

I think people tend to forget the "speculation" part of the News and Speculation headline to this thread. Lack of news leads to peripheral speculation. That's the point of combining them, no?

Well even I try to get everyone speculating with random tid bits but it doesn't seem like anyone wants to speculate...:oldrazz:...I do....so instead I just throw my two cents in here and there.

I think she is probably referring to the fight on the helicarrier... She looked pretty beat up when she said that statement. So its probably after everything went down

She certainly did look beat up. But who started the fight? Was it Loki turning everyone against each other cause he would be good at that....or ego clashing that took a turn for the worse..... or maybe both...

Re: Captain Marvel, the name, Marvel actually has had the rights for decades. This is why every time Billy Batson got his own comic, it was always called "Power of Shazam" or such; DC wasn't allowed to use "Captain Marvel" on the cover.

One theory I've heard is that Marvel is renaming Carol Danvers so they can help retain the trademark. I don't think this is the primary reason ( they've been trying to market Carol for years now ), but somewhere in Marvel there probably is a "trademark expiration counter," and they try to make sure there's a guy or gal with the name every couple of years just to keep it safely reset.

That doesn't make sense, though. Marvel Comics' Captain Marvel has only been around since the late 1960's with DC's Captain Marvel (purchased from Fawcett) was introduced in 1940. If the trademark is for the comic book use that's fine, but DC can surely make other mediums with the character while utilizing the CM moniker.

EDIT: Honestly it's not like I want to see CM/Shazam! anywhere on the big or small screen. He's a horribly dated character. Marvel's CM though, yes please.

Ant-Man was scrapped? Confirmed?

Can't confirm it, nobody announced it (and it's not like they ever do). Let's just call it stuck in Developmental Hell. Like that Lord of the Rings movie starring the Beatles

okay, Let me defend myself politely, as I don't want to offend a veteran. All I said, is that I for one am not interested in Ms Marvel, so I chose to stay out of the conversation. In no way did I say, she shouldn't be talked about here, or anything along the lines of that. I know Ms Marvel could tie in, and I am totally cool with her being talked about. I just dislike her character, and chose to stay out of the conversation, and I stated that. There has been multiple times I have stated something in which people have missunderstood my point, and have criticized me for it. maybe I need to word things differently, but you too sir, chill out. Lets all just chill out :)

Also, on a totally different, irrelevant note, I have tried different times to steer off topic discussions back into the avengers discussion on previous occasions. Only to be completely ignored.

But on the character note, even though I am a Thor fan, I would most likely be more excited to see this new Hulk. Because he is going to have a personality.

UNLESS, Thanos does somehow cameo, then he is the one Iwould be most excited about :D

DC's Captain Marvel is a great charactor for a movie or TV Show.

If anyone's interested, this is me on The Avengers buzz and speculation:

And yes, the rights ran out on the original Cap Marvel from DC, so that's why Marvel scooped up the name.

I'd really like it if Ms. Marvel was in this. I love her as a character and it's one of the few Marvel heroines who's not NECESSARILY connected to another big-name hero. (Yes, there is Cap Marvel... I said BIG name.) Is it confirmed? Where? And I wouldn't mind if she was renamed Cap Marvel either.

Also, one other thing, I can't really find it, it was mentioned here like yesterday. Someone is editing the avengers solo films into to large movie chronologically? I got two questions about that.

1. Is it just going to be all the movies as one movie, except they will be chronologically? Or are all five movies ( Cap, TIH, Thor, IM IM2) going to be mixed into one movie with each scene being in chronological order. Meaning the movie would start with Asgard invading Jotenheim, then mostly cap, and the rest being a mix of Thor, Ironman, Hulk etc.

2. Where again is this giong to be available??

Word. I stated the same.

Agree about the Hulk. But still I just want some Thor, in all his glory! hehe.

My character preference order is as follows:
Thor
Hulk
Cap
Ironman

I personally don't count anyone else. Widow is cool but not a superhero (meaning no super powers), and unless Hawkeye is displayed as he is in certain comic books, which I really don't think he will be, I have no interest there either. These are just my opinions. :cwink:

If you get ignored when trying to steer the conversation towards a topic, don't take it personally. Just means the current topic is more interesting. You can't force conversation.

Ant-Man getting scrapped wouldn't surprise me. I mean it's been almost six years since the project was announced. Wouldn't surprise me if Wright moved on and did other things.

The way things have evolved with the Marvel Cinematic Universe it's clear that Ant-Man is NOT a priority right now. Maybe they want to introduce Ant-Man in an Avengers movie or an Iron Man, Thor, or Cap sequel rather than a solo-film.

So next we will see sequels for Iron Man and Thor and I imagine one for Cap as well. But who else? I imagine Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy. If they want to do something youth/teenage oriented I'm guessing it will be Runaways. I love the Hank Pym/Ant-Man character but I'm guessing he just doesn't have that extra juice right now.

Oh yeh, totally understand. :yay:

Exactly my point. I didn't even do that though. I got crap, nevermind, not lookin to start an argument like someone else does here :P.
I gotcha though :D

I think Marvel is holding out until after Avengers makes it's run to then decide what and how much they will do next. The films they've already announced are a natural progression of franchises that have already proven themselves but I see how they would be hesitant of starting something new without first making sure they'll be standing on firm ground...
If it doesn't start to take shape after Avengers proves to be a Box Office success then I'm afraid Doc Strange and the other projects will go the way of Ant-Man. After all they too have been rumored for a long time now.

Edgar Wright's Ant-Man was not Hank Pym. It was either going to be Scott Lang or an original character. And it was purported to be a 1960's stylized spy thriller.

Hank Pym is part of the modern MCU

Thats dumb. Hank Pym IS ant-man. If any ant man was gonna get a solo film, it should be pym

Wright said it'd be Hank Pym in the 1960's and Scott Lang in modern times.

I expect Doctor Strange in April 4, 2014; and Captain America 2 in May 16, 2014.

Trying to go that way is probably the main reason that the project isn't going anywhere and hasn't for a long time. Personally I'd rather have no Ant-Man movie than that one.

Wright said it'd be Hank Pym in the 1960's and Scott Lang in modern times.

And he changed that when Pym was being worked into the modern era MCU.

That's why I said "or an original character"
