Exactly. Basically Scarlet Witch (like her namesake) is a witch, and her mutant ability is magic. But you can't really sell the audience that, because nothing is impossible for her so she will indeed turn into a Deus Ex Machina plot device. She can work in the comics, but I'm not so sure she can do likewise in the movie.

Eeeeh... so-so.
Her mutant ability is energy manipulation. If she had been born anywhere else other than Wundegore she would have been somebody like Havok or maybe her own father, but because of where she was there was this demon/warlock guy nearby who decided he could use her so he messed around with her a bit. The result was that the energy she ended up being able to manipulate was "Chaos Magic", which often gets translated into reality warping. She became a Witch, if i recall correctly under the tutelage of Agatha Harkness, in order to gain more control of her mutant power, since it had been bound to a magical sort of energy signature.. and the rest is history.

He's a fanboy's fanboy. I personally don't think he's a great actor but I can see why genre fans love the guy.

Press release came out earlier today from Disney and made the rounds. Good Morning America is doing a sweepstakes to send someone to the premiere

I JUST SAW AN AVENGERS TV SPOT ON TV AND IT WAS AWESOME! It actually showed a slight extension of the circle shot and it showed off a bit more of Cap in the shot.

His suit and cowl looked great.

Yep yep. Filming Castle in New York is pretty tedious for him. If only whatever movie he wanted to be in was also filming there then it may have worked out. Too bad.

So I don't know about anyone else, but I am quite content right now. Got my tickets for opening day (3D showing, in the afternoon -- I'll probably have to leave work a *touch* earlier than usual that day in order to be at the theater in plenty of time, but it's a Friday, Fridays are easy to leave early so long as I've got my 40 in). I'm usually not one for 3D, but I'm making a special exception for Avengers. Plus, once more showtimes go on sale - I'll be seeing it again the next day in 2D


(P.S. the idea of Nathan Fillion in a comic book movie? I'm not familiar enough with Pym, but if they could find some part for him (and he'd be willing to take it)... I'd so watch!)

Yep! I'm not a diehard Whedon fan but that flick has me hella interested for some reason

And i'm also extremely interested in this MAAN adaptation by Joss... i also hear that the next Dr Horrible only needs to get a time when all the actors are free for them to film it now....

It's filmed in NYC too. I visited the set last year when they were filming an ep about a fancy dog that died.

EDIT: As boring as the Castle stuff was the Pan Am set MORE than made up for it

Hopefully Marvel works something out with him down the road. I don't see him as a good Hank Pym though
