Yeah if there was one character I didn't care for, it was Sentry.

Whereas I actually liked Nuclear Man, in all his cheesey 80's big haired, perma-tanned,silver long fingernailed, dubbed roaring glory. I'm being serious here - I really did.

Still do, in fact.

Isn't that basically every superhero movie? Different powers, same deal

Yea but it's amplified. We're not talking superhuman agility or strength here. We're talking about God like, planet destroying powers. I mean, what would you do if you just slightly losing control could destroy the entire planet? How does a guy with a regular, flawed human psyche who didn't earn, but was given that power react? With the dark desires that come with that kind of power being literally personified by the Void.

I think it would be interesting. Just not under Brian Bendis' pen. Mark Waid did a similar thing with Irredeemable, which is a great comic. That's the potential The Sentry had as a character.

Heh, to each their own, no problemo.

Hmmm, interesting. I'd choose:
1: LOKI & the Badoon
2: ULTRON and technological war
3: Masters of Evil
4: THANOS

In my opinion Masters of Evil would make perfect side villains. If the group consist of members previously introduced in other Marvel films (like Zemo in CA2, Enchantress in Thor2, Abomination etc) I think they would make a perfect threat for films first half and maybe later on show in the climax with the main villain like Kang or Ultron.

I think *just* Ultron and an army of robots would get boring real quick to general audiences, though. Robot armies are dull as hell, and so been-there/done-that. Battle droids and New Trilogy all over again.

And I don't think audiences want to see another alien invasion in Avengers 2 --- makes the team look like a one-trick pony.

I think the sequel needs to stay on Earth, against Earthly villains. Ultron, yes, obvious choice; but if it's *just* an army of robots, then fail. Ultron as part of a Masters of Evil team? Now we're getting somewhere.

And I think Kang *could* work great in the sequel. Time travel is not the same thing as an alien invasion; and an army of crosstime mercenaries could actually look pretty cool. I'd love to see the Eternity War on the big screen.

why would Ultron need an army?
He's a one man army himself. especially in a world where weverthink is linke with each other via wifi, bluetooth and things like that.
Ultron makes Tony Stark's piece-of-glass-smart phone attack him....

Seriously, an Ultron movie could be the scariest s#!t ever for all technophiles

I can see both sides in this. On one hand, an Ultron army would be like an army of Terminators that we saw in the beginning of T2, destroying everything in their path. But without a face on that army, the Avengers would just be battling CGI robots for 2 hours and it won't be fun at all. They need to connect the audience to the villains otherwise it'd be like a big video game sequence, so perhaps we can have Ultron but also other villains added in to make it more relatable.

Wow, a lot of SENTRY hate here.

Got to disagree with the majority though. I think he's a fascinating character.
- the whole mystery of did he become the SENTRY and the VOID was a reaction or vice versa.
- Is the VOID the Biblical angel of death that attached itself to a powerful force for good?
- the concept of a irredeemably flawed human given the powers of a god and fights against his nature to be a force for good.
- the incapacitating fear of becoming his dark 'self' at any point in time.

Good stuff, IMO.

I think a lot of people were turned off the character because of the Universe spanning retcon; that was silly. In a film all of that could be avoided.

Oh my God....I had the hugest adolescent crush on Nuclear Man, true story! :wow:

I think most people don't like him because he was too overpowered and most of the time didn't do anything but freak out and fly away.

The only way I think for the Avengers saga to not turn into a one trick pony would be to make the 3 very different.
The first one is an alien invasion and the group is formed to fight it.
The second one will be smaller and more personal, for mi it screams Ultron and Pym.
The third one I say they need to take the team to another world. Who said that Thanos can't invade Asgard in search of the Gaunlet?

If my suggestions are inaccurate feel free to correct me

Sounds good to me! Thanos HAS to be the ultimate conflict...

I like the idea of Thanos invading or infiltrating Asgard... but in a Thor movie. Seeing Thanos and Odin throw down would be a sight to behold.

Sentry is a horrible character and should be never be included in a film.

You sound like my friend josh haha. Whenever I bring up The Sentry, his response is "**** The Sentry"

The only good thing about Sentry is that he looks cool.

I don't know if people will dare to read this but...with all the info/set photos/Jordanstine's spoilers/footage descriptions/sorybook etc. I was able to piece together completely what would be the first third of the film. Don't read if you don't want to spoil yourself.

Jordanstine hasn't been around for a while. Also, whats the deal? He was the one guy who was insisting that the army could be skrulls.

However, since Joss, or whoever said its not skrulls or kree...I haven't seen Jordanstine around here.

He seems legit, could Jordanstine have been getting trolled by his supposed source?

This read is weeks old news man :P

He was right about other things, such as the Thor/Cap/IM fight in December, before we saw it in trailer #2...

It will be interesting to go over some of the apparent 'insider info' once the film has come out and see what measures up.

:csad: you poor thing. I'm glad you survived. :D
Swear he was ALOT like Marvel's Solar Man. lol

Whedon has already talked about the need to go smaller and more personal with Avengers 2. I think that probably rules out someone with a huge army invading Earth again. I'd guess it would be something along the lines of Masters of Evil trying to break the team apart.

Going totally out on a limb here, regarding Loki's army. But with all the Thanos rumors...

Thanosi?? Check out the middle guy, resembles the aliens a bit, no?

The only good thing about Sentry is that he looks cool.

He's just a horrible character. Potential has nothing to do with it, EVERY character has potential to be amazing. It's the execution that matters and Sentry was executed very, very poorly.

So, in that aspect, why take the risk of putting a character that fans don't like and the general audience will compare to Superman on screen? Not worth it when so many others are available.

I know. There are different people here who all have different sources, and tell different things. So as far as I am concerned, hardly anything is legit. We'll see.
