Superman has aged well. None of its sequels have.

I tend to agree with this. And I used to love Superman2 as well(when I was a kid) but while I still really like the kryptonian villains(well, Zod & Ursa anyway...Non's a complete waste of space), all the butchering Lester did in that film has really taken it's toll on how I view it now that I'm well into my adult years. Now I'd barely give it a pass as to whether it's even good at all. Maybe a 6/10.

I agree, though the junk yard fight from 3 is still one of my favorite fights.

Well there's loads of movies I don't like(some I even hate with a passion) that still manage to have some cool scenes in them, such as the one you mentioned. In fact I'd say it's a rare superhero film that doesn't have at least one cool scene going for it. But as a whole, individual scenes like that all too often can't save an otherwise doomed picture.

Ah. I see. So Superman will join the Avengers? Is that what the conversation is about? Does that mean, that Loki's army will consist of Kryptonians?

Superman Returns had the least action of any superhero movie in the last decade. Not one punch thrown by the hero, a so-called villain who couldn't go toe-to-toe with the lead, and the main "action" sequences involved very minor use of power. The latest trailer for The Avengers had more action in it than the entirety of SR. I would far prefer that Marvel maintain the level of action in its own films than mimic anything in the Superman franchise thus far. I can't imagine Thor or Iron Man getting the **** beat of of them by a wimp with no powers, like Superman did (thank goodness).

We were just speaking of wanting to see heroes using their powers to directly save civilians in non combat situations, we weren't talking about the film as a whole.

I get what you're saying, but that isn't what I meant. BigThor already pointed it out though, so I won't waste any time. Also, I don't think SR had the least action of any superhero movie in the last decade, it had a fair amount of it. I think you might be confusing action with actual combat. :cwink:

For those who haven't seen it on the front page yet, here's a list of the mall metal soundtrack Avengers has put together:

I'm all for *good* rock, but there's very little there that qualifies. Really interested in hearing Soundgarden's new song, though; otherwise, the only song I'd really pick up off that soundtrack is Kasabian's "Pistols at Dawn," and it's on the international version, so I'm SOL either way. :(

Oh well, could be worse....they coulda got Nickelback, Lil Wayne or Ke$ha.

I'm hoping the movie will have scores and not rock songs. I love modern & classic rock, but I think TA is better served with orchestra in the background to give it an epic atmosphere, than something out of a radio station. I didn't mind it with IM & IM2, due to the kind of lifestyle Stark was living, but not in a large-scale movie such as this. And rock music will date this movie really quickly; I'd roll my eyes whenever I hear Evanescence in the DD movie right now.

Found Loki pics in High-res, and spotted Thor in the background (reflection maybe)

And I haven't met anyone over the age of 45 who even mentions those movies in the same sentence as S:TM, much less has seen them all. Seems like you're only focusing on the young male demographic of movie goers.

and I have to say despite all of Burtons odities and malfunctions his Catwoman stands out as does his Penguin

I like every single aspect of that movie which is more then I can say for 89' which doesn't have the same rewind review ability so to speak

I still say both the Modern Batman Sequals should get mentioned in the GOAT sequence.

Sorry I didn't reply. Yeah, they were on Disney XD or something. I saw the Thor, Cap and Iron Man ones. No new footage, except a quick shot of the camera following Iron Man through the city

People need to remember that Superman DIDN'T revert time by spinning the Earth backwards. That was an artistic choice to demonstrate that Superman simply flew so fast he broke the time barrier and travelled back in time.

Yeah, this is just the soundtrack (including mostly "inspired by" songs, if most OSTs these days are any indication); Silvestri's score has yet to be released. I'm sure you (and the rest of us) will be pretty pleased with Silvestri's score.

I don't know why they didn't include at least a couple of classic rock anthems, though, at least as an homage to Tony. The IM movies ran AC/DC into the ground, yeah (although I'm willing to bet that "Shoot to Thrill" by Theory, shown on the Avengers OST, is most likely a cover of the AC/DC classic....which was already used in IM2), but I was thinking that Stark's Sabbath T-shirt was a dead giveaway that we'd finally get "Iron Man" played in all its glory in the movie.

Alas.

But that was his *intent.*
Lois was dead, and the only way Kal-El knew to bring her back was to revert time by reversing Earth's spin. Which is, of course, jaw-droppingly ludicrous, but also enormously suspect in that he's never since tried to duplicate the feat (in movies, comics or anywhere else), even though it's the greatest Easy Button any superhero could ever ask for.

I think it hasnt been tried sicne due to writers aware of it not wanting to bring the Grandfather paradox into play

EDIT: the entire ideaof Superman flying backwards through time in general

No, it wasn't. Spinning the Earth backwards didn't happen. It was a way to show Superman was travelling back in time. Earth didn't spin backwards at all.

Doesn't make it any less of a gigantic cop-out.

However you want to interpret that scene it doesn't make it any better. What happened is still ludicrous no matter the explanation.

It was influenced by the Silver Age Superman. AKA Deus Ex Machina who could pull powers out his ass whenever it was necessary to the plot.

Anyway, only really just noticed, but i love the design of Loki's staff.

Two words same genre same characters

Amnesia Kiss

made even less sense

So who wants to know what Stark is thinking of calling his new element? Furys Big Week #8 was awesome!

It is quite cool, it's almost Scythe-like.

Also Freshman mentioned seeing Thor's reflection in one of the pics. I think this makes sense if it is him since it's the same chamber Thor appears to be trapped in going by the trailers. Also I think there is another person seen in a reflection in the same pic (over by the railings on the left). It could be Hawkeye or it could just be Thor's reflection again, but I'm doubtful since it doesn't look like it fits with how Thor's reflection behind Loki appears.

I'm not sure what your point is. It's a little hard to read your intent. Are you arguing for or against it? Does more nonsense justify previous nonsense?
