Yes.

But maybe now there is confirmation of a certain character he wanted to see Alexei has mellowed out.

You weren't here when the first reactions were coming in and people were starting to nitpick bits on the plot that were being spoiled, even though they weren't the ones who had seen the movie? :funny:

Wow...imagine when this movie actually comes out.

I can totally understand the Marvel, DC, Nolan, Wheedon arguments that pop up from time to time. You can't have to fantastic comic book franchises who have done battle for years, and not have their respective fan bases squabble over which film franchise is the best.

Right now TDK has the consensus as the best CBM of all time. Personally i don't consider the TDK a comic book movie. I consider it to be an all-time great movie, but it's not what i want from a comic book mobie and actually thought Batman BM. As a Marvel fan i appreciate Nolan's work, but i would be dishonest if i didn't want Marvel to reclaim the best super hero movie title. Avengers all the way.

In all seriousness Alexei wasn't all bad, he sometimes made some good points, but he could just be a little difficult at times lol......just a little....ok a lot but yeah lol

To me, I kind of consider TDK is a gritty crime drama that just happens to use some characters from comic books. You could almost replace Batman with any other type of government or rogue vigilante trying to keep the peace in a city.

You know what's something that I find awesome about the reactions so far, the fact that everyone is pointing out the comedic moments of the movie as a positive and not a negative and even more so as a standout part of the flick, because that could have gone allll kinds of wrong if someone like Whedon wasn't at the helm.

It seems that every time there's a "new" great comic book movie, all other comic book movies that were also regarded as being great are suddenly discredited. :whatever:

I think it's fine to be cynical and skeptical at times but a lot of times he was totally ignorant about it and also made outright false stuff up. He'd ask me questions and I tried to answer them in depth and give examples and then in the next post he would completely ignore it and just pick out one small thing I would say and go, "YOU'RE A TROLL AND ON IGNORE!" And then he'd proceed to NOT put me on ignore.

I got so fed up I just ended up putting him on ignore instead.

Let's get one thing straight. You see this BS about we should be supporting all CBM's. Utter crap!!!

I didn't like tdk. I found it to be a insipidly boring, uninteresting, crap movie riddled with absurd plot contrivances, bull**** philosophy, and shoe-horned pseudo-intellectual 'sociopolitical commentary'. The character I came to see, Batman, was reduced to an uninteresting foil to make the Joker look cool and smart. My favourite Batman villain, Two-Face was reduced to a 5 minute cameo whose motivations and actions were disparate from the comicbook character. All the comicbook fantasy that I love was sucked out and replaced with gritty realism which I care not for in my movies. Outside of the pencil trick I find the movie to have no redeeming qualities. And I'm still waiting for an exciting, edge of your seat, action sequence after TWO Batman movies!

Most importantly I do not believe that tdk's success has helped the CBM genre, my fav movie genre. I believe it has hurt it badly. By getting the GA to believe that this gritty realism devoid of comicbook fantasy is the way to go, it makes it more difficult for real comicbook superhero moves to be accepted by them and achieve the highest levels of success.

So tell me why should I support a franchise that I don't find entertaining or interesting, that I don't think is good, and that I believe hurts the films that I do love chances of success?????

In fact if you change the costume in tdk can you tell it's Batman???

Because people treat their favorite superheroes like sports teams and it gets incredibly tiring very quickly

True. A silly concept. No MARVEL CBM has replaced X2 as my fav as yet and no DC CBM has replaced Batman Returns as my fav.

You're getting quite a bit of that now with the Spiderman franchises.

Shame, really. Been happening since X2 and Spider-Man 2.

No :) . I'm the chubby dude with the Cap shirt. That guy in the UCLA sweater is my buddy Jon who is lucky I am such a good friend since I woke up super early to wait in line and he only had to come in right before to get his wrist band :o .

I always imagined you as an asian kid.

Worlds are colliding!

Yeah I'm a fan of Raimi's Spider-Man but when I go into the TASM threads all I see is Raimi/Tobey bashing which is why I don't go in there anymore.

I see it like being a sports fan. You have your favorite teams, but the mature fans mostly want to see a good game, not for their non-favored team to suck and for their star athlete to tear a muscle or whatever.

Teams that suck don't make for exciting games, and you pay good money to see some exciting competitive play, not for boring games where everyone knows the winner coming in.

It's kind of like that, but for movies, it's still murky because once a movie hits the bar of being "good" in general, subjectivity comes in play. A lot. As you can see here. :funny:

Yes, I find that highly annoying as well. I understand that Raimi's vision was not what everyone wanted to see out of Spider-man, but I think it's clear that his pictures were generally liked by most people. Even the third act while not as good as the others, was not nearly as bad as some let on.

I agree on all counts, man I went in there after the debut of the 2nd official trailer and everybody was all "Garfield rules, Tobey teh sucks".

Comic fans enjoys different things but the wiring in your head that stops you enjoying either Nolan films or Avengers-type films I see as something that is holding you back from the enjoyment that millions of other people are experiencing. We're not talking about the likes of reality TV here, widely popular but generally derided products ...both Avengers and TDKR are likely to turn out to be very high quality and probably industry-leading products.

If you simply don't like one of them then there's nothing you can do about it...you're missing out and it's not your fault. If any other factors (eg negative bias) are playing a part then you're just a bit silly. :woot:
