When you're adapting a property with a bajillion characters some aren't going to make the cut, unless you want an X-Men 3-type mess.

It's no different than Riddler or Penguin not being in the Nolan Bat movies, Balder not being in the Thor movies, the Harry Potter movies cut most of the material related to the various teachers, or all of the tertiary Spidey villains like Rhino or Shocker or Carnage not appearing in his flicks.

The Pyms not appearing in this movie kind of shows that they aren't a priority. And they're not the kind of characters who feel like they can be integrated naturally as the story moves forward, the same way a Black Panther or a Ms Marvel does.

Pym's a legend! He was in the original Avengers and I think it would be a huge mistake not to have him. Ms.Marvel has been in the line of strong Avengers woman and she's amazing. And to take Hawkeye and Widow out the team for Hulk, who's never been a full time Avenger would be stupid. By all means give him more solo movies though.

Or a smart move, since he's currently the best part of the group on screen, and this isn't the comics. This is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which picks and chooses the elements of the comics that make for the best movies. I'll be curious to see how many are still calling for them to get rid of the Hulk after everyone's seen the movie, because after seeing it, I want nothing more in the sequel than to see him continue to be a part of this team. This is the ideal place for him. I really just don't give a damn about "the history of the team" anymore. The team onscreen is the only team I care about, and I only want them to make character changes that work best for them.

My ideal line-up to accumulate over, say, the next two installments:

Cap
Iron Man
Hulk
Thor
Black Widow
Hawkeye
Ms. Marvel
Black Panther or Luke Cage/Iron Fist

What about taking Hulk off the team by making him a villain?

Thanos and Hulk vs Avengers t:

Exactly. Not to mention Marvel already launched an in-continuity comic with the movie cast( Hulk included!), and it's like the flagship Avengers title.

Well I STILL want them to be included in The Avengers franchise and I have no problem being in the minority.

I might even need to join the "Minoriteam".

As usual you make very good points, but an Avengers franchise without Hank, Jan, Ultron, and Vision = in my eyes.

Oh and I didn't mean history as in "being founding members", I meant history as in the years of stories, villains, and allies that all came from the Pyms.

But they can alter how those villains and allies came about, if they really wanted to use them. It's not like they haven't altered stuff in these stories already. For example, I don't want to spoil too much, but [blackout] there is a subplot in the movie about SHIELD trying to harness the Destroyer technology and creating their own similar weapons, so if they wanted to bring in Ultron, his creation could be a continuation of that plot, without necessarily having Hank Pym being the guy who does it. Or maybe just have Pym be a SHIELD scientist who does it without bringing Giant-Man into the picture[/blackout]. The absence of the Pyms really doesn't rule out these characters completely.

No, sometimes, in extreme situations, he works as an antagonist. Not a villain.

Comic book logic isn't always the best logic, especially in a live action film.

I don't see the problem. It just further explores the idea that Asgardian "magic" is another form of science. Did you complain when Red Skull harnessed the power of the cosmic cube?

It helps mesh the fantasy world of Thor with the more sci-fi world of Iron Man together.

If you don't like pseudo super science stuff like that in the comics, you shouldn't be reading superhero comics.
