Saw the screening in San Diego today and wow this film was really one to see for the summer.

Was Thanos really all CGI or an actor in makeup? Couldn't be an actor because they obviously have no idea who will play him in Avengers 2...

I couldn't tell to be honest....I just wonder, why him for Avengers 2? Wouldn't Ultron be a better choice with his ability to hack military and shield equipment. You can introduce Ant Man and Wasp, then have the already built Ultron go evil with at the end showing Vision being completely built. Then have him on the team when they face Thanos. Maybe they will do it that way, I just don't see why they showed him so early.

Also, did anyone else find any easter eggs. I honestly saw none at all.

It's not like Thanos is a weak&small villain and yes Ultron is better&bigger But I feel that should be left for part 3,Marvel has done these after credits scenes to build up the next movies in the MCU and so this ain't surprising and plus Thanos is much bigger than Loki and he got build up in Thor and so a little cameo to show the presence of a new&bigger threat for the Avengers is nice..Plus a bonus for Thano fans!!

In the trailer it shows what looks like a SHIELD base being dissolved or sucked into something. What relevance does this have to the plot?

Is Red Skull in the movie or referenced at all?

Are there any hints to nano technology or Tony wanting to be "more than just a man in a suit of armor" that could point toward Iron Man 3?

Is Pepper Potts pregnant (A pretty ludicrous rumor, but I've heard it a couple of times today)?

I was at the Chicago (Lombard) showing and thought it strange how people started clapping during the black widow scene when she talked to Loki because they showed her "rear view" female form over extendedly like they were highlighting her wonderful ass?!

My more detailed review:

This is the first superhero movie I've ever watched that felt like a comic book come to life. And not in a forced "stylized" way like Sin City or something, but it all felt natural, yet straight out of a comic.

Every single remotely significant character gets their moments to shine and all of those moments are just so glorious it hurts. When it was over, my friend who was sitting next to me said, "I think I totally lost you there for about twenty minutes. I kept trying to get to the popcorn (which I was holding) and couldn't get your attention." Lol, he was right, I was SO lost in the movie.

A couple of my favorite quotes (there were too many great lines to count, these are just the first two that came to mind):

Thor arguing with SHIELD on how to deal with Loki:

Thor: "He is still of Asgard, and he is still my brother!"
Maria Hill: "He's killed 80 people in 2 days!"
(Thor takes this in...)
Thor: "He is also adopted."

Hemsworth's delivery of that line just killed me. And a non-comedic one -

Cap (meeting Banner for the first time): "The word is you can find the Tesseract."
Banner: "Is that the only word you've heard about me?"
Cap: "The only one I care about."

Favorite scenes: Well, the given is the final battle. It's simply the most epic thing I have ever seen in a superhero movie ever. However, there is a VERY close second-fave halfway through the movie: The entire action sequence on [blackout]the Helicarrier[/blackout] is just beautifully-constructed chaos. Thor vs. Hulk is great, but I also particularly enjoyed a moment Hulk has with [blackout]a SHIELD jet[/blackout] during the same sequence. SO much awesomeness happens during that sequence it's insane.

All-in-all, this was a damn near perfect dream for a superhero fan. If I could pick out some flaws, one would be that I will imagine the pacing of the first act will get some criticism. I didn't mind it because I just enjoyed seeing these characters interacting, but I can see how someone not already familiar with them from the other films might just be waiting for them to get to some action. Also, the first one or two [blackout]cosmic scenes with the unnamed leader of the Chitauri[/blackout] were kind of clunky/cheesy, imo, just because [blackout]he looked like a more cartoonish version of the Emperor from Star Wars spouting very Asgard-esque dialogue.[/blackout] But that's ok, because there are only a few of those scenes, and the more you get used to [blackout]his look[/blackout], the less clunky those scenes feel. And the last one with [blackout]Thanos[/blackout] is perfection.

And so, with those extremely minor quibbles, I'd give the movie an overall score of about 9.99999/10.

And I will definitely still be going to the midnight show when it opens.

Seeing how the cube was used to transport matter at the end, we now know The Red Skull may still be Alive out there!

No way Pepper is pregnant because every scene she was drinking like a fish! They made it a point to always show a drink in her hand! That's bad publicity for a pregnancy!

Apparently, there's two versions of the movie being shown.

In one, Coulson is killed by Loki during the Helicarrier breakout, leading to the scene where Captain America comforts Iron Man about losing a soldier.

In another, Coulson is only knocked aside by Loki's energy blast and survives, later having a small scene with Hill before the final battle.

I don't know it that's true, though.

Oh so Thor is the one to fly off camera from the punch?

Does the film ever show that the punch actually affected Thor in a negative way or was that just meant to be nothing more than the whole "beer drinking buddy" thing that someone described those two to be like.
