Huh. I guess that makes sense.

Yeah, as a matter of fact, I think that is what threw Ebert on his Thor review. I mean I think maybe he just couldn't grasp the space/god elements of Thor like most of us that know the comics can. He's like "Wait, is this a space move; with Shakespearean-era dialogue; but floating in space; oh wait now he's on earth; wait, now we are back in space-kinda, but floating with no atmosphere...ahhhh to hell with this! I just CAN'T suspend this much belief! THIS movie SUCKS!"

Yeah, i'm pretty sure that happened. :cwink:

"I only have one question" *Joker Voice*
Seriously though I haven't seen a answer to this yet:
Does [BLACKOUT]Thanos look like Thanos from the comics? Dimpled chin, helmet, clothing etc?[/BLACKOUT]

Thanks!

Yes. Again, you really only get a good look at his face because they do a closeup. But from what you do see, is very much like his comic look.

Yeah that Ebert review kinda threw me off..its funny cause my GF kinda thought the same thing. She loved Captain America but she thought Thor was "f**kin ridiculous". Kinda had me scratching my head

WTF? Didn't Captain America have a Thor type sequence.

There was nothing corny [BLACKOUT]about the space scenes[/BLACKOUT].

Well, I guess it's not surprising that some people would have that reaction. I mean, Cap is pretty anchored in reality compared to Thor.

With Thor, there's a pretty big leap that the audience needs to make in terms of suspension of disbelief. So, it makes sense that some people would just reject the concept and never connect with it.

If anything, I think that's why most people, prior to the Thor movie, would have said that Thor was a hard character to adapt. Obviously, the film was able to avoid having too many people react that way, so it worked. But... it's still space gods twirling hammers and riding horses, etc. LoL :woot:

I'm trying not to get too excited I'm saving that for the opening day :)

I was going to say this was about Thor but then I realized it was about something else.
*quickly rescinds comment about the awesomeness of Thor space scenes*

Thor will not sit well with certain religious types as they see it as going against their one god type beliefs, even though it is a comic book fantasy film, they are still dumb enough to make that a reason to dislike it right from the off

I was talking about Avengers scenes ;)

But won't those people be busy raising a barn in the middle of nowhere? ;) :oldrazz:

I just wish I could've seen them better. Something about the darkness and the 3D wasn't jiving.
I also couldn't understand parts of what the Chitauri general was saying.

People have described the cosmic scenes as somewhat corny. Is this the same case for the mid-credit scene?
No. I'm one of the ones who thought the first couple space scenes were a little corny, but the mid-credits scene is perfection.

Well that's because the 3D wasn't good at all, IMHO.
Anybody who's asked me I've told them to go see it in standard format.

As for [BLACKOUT]what that guy was saying I missed a lot too because people were making too much noise[/BLACKOUT]. But hey that's what viewings # 2, 3, 4, 5 .. etc, are for.

So what was the lucky peoples thoughts? I've been away from my laptop all weekend, i needs the info! :D

 Thanks.

So in terms of the cosmic scenes, are they not as good as what we saw in Thor?

 Thanks.

So in terms of the cosmic scenes, are they not as good as what we saw in Thor?
Well, [blackout]they are dialogue, not action scenes (except for one, and that's not corny at all), so when making Thor comparisons, the regular old exposition-heavy Asgard scenes are more appropriate to compare them to.[/blackout] And I found those scenes in Thor cheesy as well...probably even more so than the ones in Avengers.

Sweeeeeet! So, Thanos appearance live up to the hype?

And what's this about the space scenes being cheesy? How much time was spent in space then?

 Thanks.

So in terms of[BLACKOUT] the cosmic scenes, are they not as good as [/BLACKOUT]what we saw in Thor?

Please include spoiler tags in your questions when the question itself reveals something about the movie....

[BLACKOUT]The cosmic/space scenes were very different to what you saw in Thor. I didn't seen anything bad about it, quite the opposite. The only negative thing to say is it was hard to make out what was happening, [/BLACKOUT]but that's more an issue of the 3D conversion than anything else in my opinion.
