The Avengers The Avengers Post Screening Review & Discussion Thread (SPOILER FILLED) - Part 5

Avengers has just been put up online

Question

Shall I watch it now, or wait

I am going to see it tomorrow morning, but am so tempted to watch it now and then again at cinema :woot:

I already know quite a lot of spoilers

Maybe watch online, then 2D in cinema, then 3D IMAX? :woot:

 You can't be serious. Some of us have to wait a week and you're seeing it tomorrow? Yet you're still considering watching it online first? *SLAP*

Thor is I think my favorite one (but it's very close with Hulk and Iron Man), and he's very present, has a lot to do, and I totally geeked out.

Woah I'm glad to see that Thor was your favorite character, you don't really see that much around here.

First time outside the TDKR boards (its scary) but just got home from The Avengers in the UK and the film truly was fantastic there are SO many memorable moments its unreal. To see all these characters in one film fighting together.... there are not enough words to use to define how awesome it is! It's all fantastic and every character gets their moment to shine. I could not possibly choose a favourite character as it would seem one does something to outshine the rest but that simply not the case here.

Just back from seeing it and I have to say that I loved it. This film was everything I had hoped it would be, every hero had his moment and Loki was a fantastic villain.

As for favorites I'm always partial to the Hulk.

Don't worry, we don't bite! The Bat-boards used to be my SHH home, too, and probably will be again once my mind makes the transition from Avengers glow to TDKR hype. Anyway, welcome to Marvel-land, and I'm glad to hear you seem to have enjoyed Avengers as much as I did! :D

A casual Superherohyper shares his thoughts:

Movie was great! I absolutely loved the fact that Marvel pulled this off. Seeing all these heroes in one movie with this production standard - I don't see how anyone could at least be appreciative. Even if the movie was bad, you have to give them kudos for even getting to principal photography (knowing how difficult some Hollywood projects can be to get off the ground).

Off the top of my head: The action sequences, especially the one-on-one ones, are very memorable, though I did feel the story was a little too simple. [EDIT: However, the dialogue between the heroes was MINDBLOWING!]

I don't think it would be hard to wait for the Bluray until I see this movie again. I don't think I even NEED to purchase it (unless it comes with A LOT of extras). I feel that the metareviews are overhyping things a bit (or maybe my expectations were just sky high). I came out of the theater satisfied and happy that this seems to be the start of a special franchise, but I wasn't like *HOLY CRAP THAT WAS SO AWESOME I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT AGAIN!*. Then again, 28 years old doesn't qualify as being a little kid anymore.

I don't know why [edit: probably coz of the ensemble], but the movie felt extremely comic-booky, more than any other comic book movie so far. While I was watching it, I kept thinking, "So this is what it it looks like when your toy collection comes to life." (And I'm sure the toy market is going to be milked for all its worth). This isn't a bad thing by any means, but if you're expecting a gritty Nolanesque Marvel movie, don't get your hopes up. This falls in line with something like Transformers instead.

A DC fan at heart, I still have to say: Something VERY RIGHT is going on in the Marvel offices.

Oh, yeah, does anyone have any clue
why some the Chitauri wouldn't be protecting the portal instead of, you know, taking hostages in a library a fumbling around for dropped space grenades?
Because it was protected by an unbreakable barrier. Or at least that's what everyone thought since they didn't expect that Selvig had maintained a shred of his old self.

I don't know if Im going senile or not, but I believe I've seen a few clips in the new tv spots that I don't think was included in the fan screening a few weeks ago?

Am I the only one?

If you went to the fan screening, please tell me I'm not crazy lol

I'm definitely going to see it again. To see some new footage would be awesome!

It just opened in Mexico so I just saw it. I really thought it was the best superhero movie ever made. Too bad no after credits scene, but there is one when the credits are about to start about the next movies villians muhahaha

We dont know that
Thanos
will be the villian for the second movie. Hell, with the guardians of the galaxy coming up, and rumors of an inhumans, along with the fact that we saw the
gauntlet
, I feel like it will be a few more years and solo movie teases of
Thanos
before we see him. Personaly I think he will be the villian for 3.

I think the villian for avengers 2 will be
Ultron
.

Well I've seen the movie two times since last Wednesday and yeah some footage shown in the TV Spot don't appear in the movie. Fury's speech, the cool low angle shot of Thor and Mjolnir, some Cap stuff (like the alley fight)... They seem to be marketing the movie with some delete scenes :wow:

hey for those of you who have seen the movie already could someone please PM me in regards to this question.

-- What is the opening of the movie like? because the files I've found online start from
Fury mid conversation w/ Hill then talking to Dr. Selvig about the Tesserect

I'm just wondering if I'm missing anything important by starting the movie there? THanks =)

Yes you are missing something important by starting the movie there. It's called seeing it at a theater as it was intended to be viewed.

And not, you know, breaking the law and screwing over all the awesome creative people who made the great movie you just stole.

never said I was going to watch it, I just found it and was curious. But thanks for being a jackass and no help at all.

also watching a streaming video online isn't breaking the law. I'll be paying my 10$ regardless if I watch it online or not.

But it is kind of stupid to waste your time watching a bootleg copy of the movie.

Like I said, I probably won't watch it. I just want to know if that I happen to cave in and do watch it that I'm not missing anything.

If someone could please answer my original question instead of trying to bash me for thinking about watching an online copy that would be great.

Am I missing the part where:
Loki is making the deal with the army
or is that afterwords? and/or anything else important? Thanks!

Come on, that's a bs excuse and you know it. You are fully aware that whoever posted it on a streaming site is doing so illegally.

But more importantly, I just don't understand why you'd wanna watch a crappy copy of something at home rather than just wait and seeing it in a week. Seems insane to me.

yeah, of course their doing it illegally, but I'm not at fault for stumbling upon it.:yay: And idk if I want to watch the online version, it's terrible quality and probably not worth ruining the initial experience anyways.

Why? WHy are you watching it online? WHY!?

omg people are just..ugh

i watched it online

but i am going to go watch again in cinema in few hours and pay £9, so the makers get their monies

reason i watch films online is because cinema prices are too expensive, so i very rarely go unless its a very big movie like avengers or star wars or avatar

also by watching it first online, i can decide whether it is worth going

also a lot times a movie is better 2nd or 3rd time around, so now i know what i am in for i can enjoy it much better :yay:

if they lowered cinema prices i would not watch online as much :oldrazz:

guys I didn't watch it.. no worries! lol I'm over the ambition to see it before it comes out here. only like 5 more days anyways. Time to hit the books and study anyways this next week
Good for you mkilban! You go with that will power.
