The Dark Knight Rises The Bane's/Hardy's size thread.

Hardy actually only weighs 2 lbs more than Bale for this film. Bale needed to be 190 lbs for batman and Hardy weighs 192 for Bane which in article, he said this is the biggest he's ever been. Hardy obviously isn't as toned as Bale which makes him look 20+ lbs heavier when it is really 2.

:woot:
Looks big enough on my new figure

If anything, Hardy needs to shrink some.

Hardy's a great actor and I'm sure his performance will be excellent. However he is smaller than Bale, has no venom fuelling him and is fighting a well armoured Batman. I'm curious as to how this will be a believable slobberknocker.

In time thought I do feel that I'll be left wondering how much more threatening a bigger Bane would have been. Rocky IV wouldn't have been the same had Dustin Hoffman put on muscle to play Drago for exacmple.

Jokers is Unknown so he just has a GCPD rap sheet, evidence (cards), and blurbs from wayne.
BANE:
DOB: unknown
Height: 6' 1"
Weight: 240 lbs
Eyes: Blue
hair: unknown
Origins: unknown
fighting style: result-based; brutal; extremely dangerous
intelligence: extremely high
Details surrounding banes origins are vague at best. What is known is that he is an international mercenary and self-styled liberator. Hes also a ferocious fighter, trained in the severest and deadliest combat disciplines known to man. banes physique is formidable, the result of years of strength and fight training. He can anticipate and counter an enemys move with pinpoint precision. Bane is also a skilled tactician and has amassed a considerable army of derelicts underneath the streets of Gotham to do his dirty work. He targets the disenfranchised-men and women without homes, children without hope. Hes rumored to have transformed the tunnels under the city into his private lair, filling it with his mercenary brethren who keep hiim protected and unswervingly do his bidding.
To date, Bane has not been reported to be seen without his mask on. the mask appears to serve as a breathing apparatus, worn to manage pain. A series of tubes supplies an uninterrupted flow of an inhalant, thought to be an opiate analgesic or similar medication. The nature of his injury is unknown.

Thought I'd post this here, via the Dark Knight Weapons Manual. Bane's officially listed at 6'1" 240.

Oh but how awesome would it have been, though?

:D

I completely buy Hardy's size as an extremely formidable, powerful and dangerous live action Bane.

RIP breastmode

I really hope we hear Bane laugh in Rises.

Movie magic/editing for one perhaps.

What I'm curious about is, how will they portray Banes Strength?

In the prologue, he snaps out of those cuffs (plastic or not), then does that hanging by one arm thing when the plane is dangling... and in one or two spots he seems to be really strong the way he kicks batman and punches a hole in that beam column at city hall. I know he wont have superhuman venom strength, but they have been showing us that he is or appears to be rather strong.

Does he crack batmans mask with his fist, his boot, an object?? Batmans mask should be pretty strong, for it to break like we see in the spot must have taken lots of pressure....

Also Bale is couple of inches taller than Hardy. It makes him look leaner compared to Hardy. Elevator boots, big vest, coat, baggy pants, sleeves, pads and thick mask... all makes Hardy much bigger than he actually is. Good job by designers.

It's not easy to take 5'9 192 lbs man to make larger than 5'11-6' 190 (Probaby 6'1-6'2 in Batsuit) without camera tricks or body suit.

Batman is 6ft2 and 210..atleast in the comics that is!

Tom Hardy may actually be on of the least genetically gifted celebrities that I have seen do a transformation for a movie. You can tell he has some foundation for muscle, but really he looks like an average joe.

Like 99% of people before they start lifting :whatever:

In the prologue Bane drops 4 to 6 feet into an iron cross. No one in the world at 240lb can do that, maybe no one at all. Just like no one in the world can curl a fully armored 210lb man with one arm, like Bruce did in “BB”. They are superhuman strong.

Bruce could do that not only because of his strength but because of the adrenalin. Plus, its a movie.

And afew 200lb guys can do an iron cross that I know of..so at 240 with his special gas it seems possible. Plus...its a movie.

Outside of the Rock (who honestly would've probably been pretty damn good in the role) there are not many Hollywood actor of Bane's size. That said Hardy is going to be fine. The are not going to film it so he comes off as his real size. Even actors like Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth are made to look bigger. They do have a pretty common post edit they do to accentuate features on just about everyone, especially for nude scenes and action movies where you have people baring chest.

You're honestly better off being lean. Chris Evans Cap was just really lean. Don't believe that crap where they tell you "Christian Bale got to over 220 for the role". He may have, but that was mostly fat and water. By the time he dieted to get in front of a camera he may have only been 170 or 180. You're better off being cut than huge on screen, because on film a really big dude gets flattened out a bit by the camera and just starts looking fat. Most male models, the ones you see on underwear, probably are only 160 or 170, and could be as tall as 6'1".

I've done fitness modelling, you end up getting really emaciated before you just binge on carbs for two days, and your muscles suck that up like a sponge. Makes you really cut looking for about a day, then you gain whatever you had back in 24-48 hours. It looks really good on camera though.

So yeah, he's definitely a little undersized, but most of those guys are.

They also have him 'pump' before a scene, so anytime he has to look like anything he's gonna be all puffed out

That's the stuntman....who was apparently asked to diet and slouch for his shots.

:D :oldrazz:
source?

still, that IS Bane, in character, so he's portrayed as being as brolic as that, whether or not it's Tom we're watching

and his images were not of a stuntman, it was of a figure
