It does make sense he would wear it, but it only looked cool in the '89 film, IMO. They need to make it more flexible/less "bulky" (re: PLASTIC) looking.
the batman of the comics' suit was bulletproof and flame ******ent. Don't see why they couldn't have it like that in the film but look the same way.
So what your really saying is you want a straight page to screen adaption.
This guy pulled off the Arkham City costume pretty nicely. Though there doesn't look to be much flexibility with the cowl.

the CW is negotiating with Eric Johnson (Smallville, Flash Gordon) to play Barry Allen
Begins suit looked too bulky and TDK&R suits were too busy looking. The cowl looked funny too - more like a guy dressing UP as Batman than Batman - an actual creature, like Batman.
Some middle ground between the two would be nice at least.
The helmet route was a good idea, though the nose is ridiculously big on that version.
And yeah the TDK suit was way too busy, so much so the Bat symbol gets lost in it.

The belt was less noticeable than something on his freaking chest and was a muter shade of yellow.
Also, ninja's were trained to blend into their environment. Batman moves around at night in the shadows, so black works. His Bruce Wayne persona is another example of him blending in.

Yeah sure.
Making a TV series is a huge mistake, it shows how the folks at WB don't really know what they are doing. I thought that after Man of Steel they finally got the hang of making comicbook movies as a studio but no ! One day they announce a Flash movie is in the works...
