The Batman: Eternal weekly review and discussion thread

this issue was amazing. I loved the art. It was gripping and really engaging. I'm glad the investigation about Gordon won't take another 20 issues. Everything felt right in this issue. Save for one thing. When bats tells Alfred "maybe you're right about Bard". What does it mean? Since he's smiling, I guess he trust him again, but it doesn't feel right to me. What do you think?

I liked the throwback to croc villain month issue too.

Look who's back in #25:

so does that mean "the end" si happening long before issue 52?

Today's issue was ****ing great. Art was top notch. Great ending with
Hush reveal and Zachary Gates
:wow::woot: Just awesome.

Yeah, it was flippin' great! Though, I wish I had not known about Hush's comeback with that cover reveal. Would have made the issue even better for me. Still, so excited for Gate which makes me ponder if we'll see the return of [BLACKOUT]the Court of Owl[/BLACKOUT]?

Why did the cover and the solicit describe the last few pages? That seems silly.

*ahem*

HUSH!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, who was Zachary Gates again?

Ah, oh course, I didn't read Gates of Gotham.

And yes, this is Hush's first appearance in the New 52. I honestly don't know how much of Batman: Hush still exists in the continuity to be honest, guess we'll find out.

You what the best thing is about this? At C2E2 this year I asked Scott Snyder about Hush, and asked if he would come back, and I even noted how Batman Eternal has a long-game surgical approach, I didn't think to connect the dots!

yeah, I liked it as well, and Dustin is on art duties.

HUSH! HUSH! HUSH! HUSH! HUSH! HUSH!

I hope we get backstory next issue on what Hush's story is in the New 52, and how much of the original storyline is in this continuity.

So, it's pretty much safe to say the shadowy figure we saw in the Batcave in Batman #28 is [BLACKOUT]Julia Pennyworth[/BLACKOUT].

That would be my guess as well. I liked this issue, because of the penny-two dynamic (that penny-number stuff is horrible though), but I didn't love it. It wasn't as gripping as last issue for instance.

True, but she's still the daughter of a mob boss, just not the one we thought! I think this'll work well, especially since we got a lot of background on "The Lion" from previous issues.

Wonky art this week. :csad: What was up with Bruce's band-aid when all geared up? That was weird... :whatever:

Spoiler being awesome as always, though tough time is coming for her. Oh and I'm not too sure about Hush's new origin...

Agreed, the art was weird. And I too am not sure about Hush's new origin. Some of it was the same from the original arc, but the rest was weird. He turned out like the Hush we knew, but the origin was really weird. Hopefully it'll get fleshed out a little more.

This new origin was both really stupid and really funny. It's weird, but I like it. He's a total psycho. I don't like that Bruce is so scare though. That said, Eternal continues to deliver, and I can't wait for the Alfred/Bane team-up. It should be glorious.

I love this week's art! Please DC, give more work to Meghan Hetrick!

the art was amazing (save for batgirl's nose). I loved it. It was a great issue overall. Selina's arc makes sense now, and it's not a boring "batman didn't save me" kind of thing. Croc's arc is really moving.

Much better issue this week, and I'm glad they didn't rush into the Jason/Barbara relationship like I thought they would have. It would've been really forced in my opinion.

Also, Croc is quickly becoming a standout Bat-villain/anti-hero. It's amazing how a character can change based on who writes them.

they pushed it harder than ver. she basically gave herself to him, and he was like "i will never be dick grayson". But in time, he will join her in the sun.
