The Batman: Eternal weekly review and discussion thread

It's been weeks since we last saw of Batwing and the Spectre that I didn't really have much focus on the last issue.

Still, seeing Batman [BLACKOUT]taking down two helicopters[/BLACKOUT] was flipping awesome.

I finally got around to starting this. My friend let me borrow all of his back issues, so I'll be reading them for the next few weeks. I'm only 3 issues in.

I'm really loving the art. Jason Fabok is doing a great job.

there are different artists every 2 or 3 issues though.

Okay, this week's issue is simply crazy!

Batman blasting a ton of police cars while probably permanently damaging the ears of over 30 cops... And that airplane doing an emergency landing while Batman escapes? Priceless. Alfred leading Bane to a trap was pretty awesome too.

I really liked the pacing of this issue and can't wait for next week. Hopefully Pasarin is gone though because I can't stand the faces he draws.

I loved how Alfred impressed Bane with his skills. Little disappointed the team-up is over, but hey, what can you do?

Well... **** just got real with this week's issue.

Nice Batman vs Hush fight. Chuckled at the Game of Thrones reference. :hehe: Also, what the hell happened with Bluebird and Red Robin? Long time no see...

why hush?? of all people!i just can not take that guy seriously as a villian, toilet paper man! They lost me when they brought him in but i feel like i have to read all these issues just so my other bat books make sense. Unless someone can recap the last 10 issues for me lol

What other Batman series are you reading?
Arkham Manor? Well, the Asylum has been destroyed due to a supernatural event with Deacon Blackfire. I suppose you're reading Batman: Endgame? Julia appeared in Eternal and is revealed to be Alfred's daughter and is a Spec Op agent. She's been helping Batman as "Penny-Two" while her father was in Arkham Asylum. She's a new asset to the Bat-team and, as you can see, has survived the events of this weekly.

Catwoman? Well, she's now the kingpin of Gotham taking her father's place (Calabrese and not Falcone like it was hinted for years).

so Hush is indeed not the big bad.
I'm still calling [BLACKOUT]Owlman and the Court of Owls[/BLACKOUT]. Can't be [BLACKOUT]Joker[/BLACKOUT] since he returns in Endgame.

I think this is what would make the most sense indeed.

How is Hush not the big bad? Cause this all seems like a Hush plot, intricate, sophisticated, epic. I hate his origin in the New 52, but this issue showed he got the last laugh.

Yeah, I'm a little confused as to who it could be now. I liked that it was a Hush story. It's a perfect fit for him.

As for the earlier guess on who is behind it:

[blackout]The Court of Owls could be cool, but I feel like they need a break. Big 11 part story in Batman with a lot of tie-ins, Their role in Nightwing, the Talon series, Stixx in Birds of Prey, and their role in Arkham War. They've not really had much time off and risk over exposure. I like them, but I hope it isn't them.

It could be Joker but without Batman learning it was really him. I mean, he IS in Gotham during all this as we now know.[/blackout]

he got caught by batman for starters and we're something 18 issues from the ending. Then, he also got an invitation, like Falcone had in issue 21. Also, he is used to being a pawn, as seen in his original story, Hush.

Well they said it would be a year long story and then end. Even they wouldn't push it beyond that.

Personally, I can't wait for Future's End to get back to the Batman Beyond story, he's be quiet the last two issues, I want Terry McGinnis back!

those weeklies are interesting, but man, are they having pacing iand focus ssues...

Finally, Bluebird has entered the scene! :woot:

Also, we're getting really close to the events seen in Batman #28.

yes she did, and it was boring and predictable. I still don't see anything interesting about her. The whole "rookie saves the real heroes" stuff is so old, and it wasn't made original at all.

I thought how Bluebird beat Mad Hatter was interesting. Playing up his ego is something I don't think the others would've done.

Man as of recently I was thinking that Nobody was going to be the person behind Batman: Eternal but it looks like ( SPOILERS FOR ARKHAM MANOR) he might be the killer in Arkham Manor.

How do you do the spoiler black out thing?

So that we go another reveal and that the person that Stephanie saw was
Bruce Wayne
who could it possibly be? I mean it can't be Clayface. And since Batman is going
to the Court of Owls
in Snyder's main comic it probably has nothing to do with them. Like I said before I read this latest issue I thought
Nobody was going to be the main bad but he looks like he's the killer in Arkham Manor.

I'm baffled. Who else in his history knows who Batman is. I guess I'll go back with my old, old guess that it's Hugo Strange - who was also mentioned in the new Batman. So it doesn't make sense to be him. Damn.

Okay. How do you do the black bars? I'm stumped. [BLACKOUT]Never mind.[/BLACKOUT]

Yeah, I'm still going with [BLACKOUT]Lincoln March/Court of Owls[/BLACKOUT].

Or... [BLACKOUT]Owlman (Earth-3)[/BLACKOUT]. :ninja:
