The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 2

If he weren't John Blake, JGL would be my first choice for Batman. Oh well.

Which IMO, a (esp. dark) hero like Batman must have. The voice of a hero.

Not necessarily. Keaton had the best Batman performance and his natural voice is normal range, not particularly low or heroic.

What he did was make Batman soft-spoken and intense. It worked really well.

Wes has a dark look indeed, but there's no such thing as 'too dark for Batman.'

Bale could easily slip into the role of a villain as well, and has.

He has looked quite psychotic in many of his personal pictures and his roles.

Batman has to be intimidating and threatening. He isn't the approachable Man of Steel. He's the antithesis of that. He needs that edge. Keaton perfected it.

Bale can play a villain but he can also play the hero. Bentley's looks are so dark as to be sinister. That's not how I see Bruce Wayne.

If they were to make a few TV miniseries while Batman was away from the silver screen I would wholeheartedly support this cast.

Maybe a few years ago but Hamm looks way too old now to be a superhero. He's even said that superhero parts are for men younger than himself. I wish people would just move past him.

I guess I'm not seeing the overly sinister look Bentley has that make people feel he can only be a villain.

And JGL is not a good choice for Batman, even before being cast in TDKR.

Yeah, if there were someone cast in TDKR who would have otherwise been a good Batman, I'd have to say it's Tom Hardy, not JGL.

Pretty sure a guy can Lol without an ulterior motive.

Relax, it's not always about you.

I unfortunately dont' know much of wes bentley's stuff, but off of a few pictures I've just looked up, as far as appearance, He seems like he would be a fine BW/Batman. Looks the part much more than gosling, if I do say so myself.

His look is different from Bale, and more in line with a mixture of Keaton and the comics artwork, but he looks the part. It screams Batman to me.

He kind of looks like an older ian somerholder(pardon the spelling) from TVD.. I like the idea of a more gruff looking BW/Batman more than the pretty boy look. His look is definitely different overall though.

I still think they'll go with a no-namer in the end, however, this guy might be my new batman

Well he is basically a no-namer, by Nolan's standards.

Wes is pretty much where Bale and Cavill were before they were cast in their respective roles.

The funny thing is I don't think he looks that gruff at all. He looks a bit softer than Bale when clean cut.

In his younger days, he would have been a perfect Dick Grayson.

Bentley looks creepy. Perfect Batman material.

I think Bentley (if it's that angry guy next to the hung-over Bale in the pic above) could be a grea Batman, but it would have to be a different Batman. Bale is thoughtful, quiet (ish), introverted, self-doubting and philosophising. Bentley would have to be mostly sure of his moral ground, estrovert, good at the playboy alter ego and very, very angry against the criminals of Gotham. That would be excellent!

It's pretty much between Pace and Bentley for me, as well as some love for Luke Evans. That is if they're going to keep a younger Batman.

Younger? They're all actors in their mid 30s now. They're actually older than Bale when he was cast.

Not too young, not too old.

Bentley was addicted to heroin for much of the 2000s, that IMO gives him real life intensity that he could bring to the role

I have to say.. In this picture Bentley looks more like batman than Bale

Yeah, Bale looks like he's going to be sick lol ! Which movie is this from?

Ina few years I could see it. Right now JGL seems very young to me.

I could see him as a young-ish Batman. Mid-to-late twenties, maybe early thirties.

I guess I'm not seeing the overly sinister look Bentley has that make people feel he can only be a villain.

I can't speak for him as an actor, but I think he has a good look. It's a little different, but not in a bad way. But I'm not gonna lie, I could see him as a villain, too.

I disagree. But to each his own.

I disagree. He's a good actor, but he doesn't look much like the character IMO.
