What part wouldn't work in live action? Two distinct voices for Wayne and Batman? Because that's exactly what I want to see...or hear.

I will never understand this statement. To me, his Batman and Bruce Wayne sounded exactly the same. I dont like that. I dont want to hear his voice and think..ummm..Bruce? Why are you dressed like the Batman??

Conroy does well in animation but for a live-action movie i would rather Keatons whisper or Bales growl. Something where you're not immediately going "Oh god Bruce that's you isn't it. You're the Batman."

Let's be honest though. If your best friend/boyfriend/girlfriend/cousin/uncle/whoever, walked up to you in a Batman costume (or especially a domino mask like so many heroes wear), you would be able to tell who it is almost immediately.

I mean, if you watch Community, even though he uses a "Bale" voice, could you not tell it was Abed dressed as Batman before someone else pointed it out?

Here's the problem with most people's predictions here, they seem to be solely basing it on the look of an actor. I mean a guy like hugh jackman would have never been cast as wolverine based solely on his appearance and downey jr's. age almost held him back frombeing cast as iron man.

I think acting talent needs to come first as opposed to the look. Being cast for batman is not like being picked for a modeling ad.

Agreed. As long as the actor has the potential to prepare physically for the tole and is fairly good-looking then we're fine.

That's what I was getting at. The voice isn't going to really throw anyone off, so it will be ok if the Batman voice sounds somewhat similar to what Bruce sounds like.

Sure it is. If Batman speaks in a normal voice, it's an instant give away. A matter of seconds. He's a very popular figure in Gotham. Spidermans face is covered up and he's just a teenager. A teenager who people ignore most of the time when he's just being Peter Parker. So he can get away with it. A Conroy approach to Batman would be ridiculous in my opinion.

Sure, but I remember peoples reactions to Heath Ledger and Anne Hathaway as well. And both times I predicted that the actors would own their parts.

Rob Schnieder would make an awesome Batman.

But what you are saying is once again supporting that the voice itself is not going to help disguise who Batman is. He is a very popular public figure. You see him standing there, and you see half of his face. If you know Bruce Wayne, no matter how scratchy he makes his voice or how much he whispers, you are going to be able to say "hey Bruce!"

It's like when people to photo manips of people in t he cowl, we can pretty much always tell who the person is by just looking at their mouth/jaw. Especially if our next Batman is hanging out with the Justice League, Robin, etc, I'd much rather he have a deep, yet somewhat normal voice than have something like the Bale voice, and I actually don't mind the Bale voice in the context of the Nolan films.

I disagree. Batman is more in the shadows, and whether he's there in broad daylight or night..if he goes through a transformation when he's the Bat, you wont be able to figure it out. In Bales case, he did extremely well at becoming something else when he was in that suit. Not just the voice but his whole behavior was very different from how he normally is in the public eye. The way he moved and the aggression in it.

I dont want that growl to be in the reboot, i think it should be exclusive to the Nolan films. But i want the whisper to return, even less talking and more of a whisper would be nice.

The mouth is not noticeable to me unless it's REALLY distinctive, and i mean Tom Hardys lips, or somebody with a butt for a chin LOL. Otherwise, i can forgive the mouth as something to gloss over and use the "suspension of disbelief" card but i personally cant look past the voice. It's just too way too direct for me. It's something i can pick up in a millisecond. That's why i would prefer very little speaking from the Batman next time, with an eerie whisper. I dont mind some grunting when he's being physical.

What about James Franco as Two-Face? Since you guys weren't big on him being the Joker.

You do make a good point here. I agree with the idea that Batman, especially in the Gotham shadows, should be more of a whisper, as he is trying to basically make the bad guys think he is some kind of dark force coming after them. However, if he is talking to someone like Robin or hanging around the Justice League Watchtower, I feel like he can somewhat drop the act a little more. He can still mask his voice or change it a little bit (similar to the way Big Daddy becomes Adam West in Kick-Ass, but not exactly).

Yeah, i think in Justice League we'll get more of the Conroy approach when he's speaking with Superman and the rest of the team. Possibly not speaking at all when "others" are around. Then in the solos he uses a whisper with criminals/Gordon. With Robin he'll speak normally of course.

I still think Karl Urban would be the best choice for Batman in the reboot/JL movie. He's still young, but old enough, he's got the talent, the grittiness, and his Dredd voice would work brilliantly for Batman with some slight tweaks.
