The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 3

Ezra would make a badass Robin. He was scary as hell in the Kevin movie.

Its honestly a real shame celebs have to hide their sexuality, cause most people out there have old fashioned and religious views, people who make jokes.. It results in them being shooed away from roles and things. I wanted Pace to be Batman very much, but I know it'll never happen becaue he's gay.

I want Pace as Dr.Strange.

Lachy Hulme would be my pick for the Penguin. The man just oozes that same arrogance that the Oswald exudes.

I'll bet anyone on here any sum of money that Robin will not be seen in a reboot. His character is just not necessary outside of the comics. Batman works best on screen as a loner.

you may be right about Robin not being in the next movies. But I do think they should expand the batfamily this time. Bats is way more interesting as a character, when he has to take care of others like Robin/dick.

Athough I don't feel he will be in the next movie I still feel it could work.

Here is how I would tackle it: Don't use Dick Grayson as Robin, instead use Jason Todd. Have Bruce Wayne take in Todd, to live with him.

Have Todd eventually discover that Bruce is the Batman (just don't have him "discover" the cave or anything stupid) have him then decide that if Bruce can do it then so can he. Have him dress up in "civilian clothes" that resemble the Robin costume.

I would then have him go out as a vigilante without the knowledge of Bruce or Alfred, which would eventually lead to his death. Bruce could then blame himself for taking him in/doing nothing about it. I would never have him go by the name of Robin in the movie, though.

^Useless changes.

Just have flashbacks to Dick and Jason as Robin. Have Dick be Nightwing, Tim be Robin, and Jason be "dead". You could set up a Red Hood movie later on.

I want either an established Batman with all of that ^ (Fassbender) or a younger Batman with only Dick Grayson so far(Hedlund,Hunnam, or Gosling if they can get him)

Older and establlished with all those charcters will be to much for the GA to swallow and digest lol. Younger Bats, with Robin in it is the ideal way to go. Because I don't see much relevance in having all these charcters in a film.

But nobody is having a problem with Quinto as Spock, so why not Luke Evans as Bats ?

Because, to put it bluntly, Spock isn't Batman.

I reckon things would have been fine if there wasn't that whole Batman and Robin iis gay that's been tossed around for years. Grant Morrison made it resurface recently. WB wont risk jeopardy of the situation if a gay actor was cast Batman.

Sexual orientation discrimination is an monster that grows bigger only when making an issue about it.

It's a real shame. We don't live in the past anymore. But gay people will always be shunned by Hollywood and tackless figures will always state their opinions and the prudes will also. It shouldn't be happening.

Luke Evans and Lee Pace were good choices though.

They are both pretty popular choices. I can see Evans is well admired, and many can see Pace in the role too. But WB won't risk Batman and the films reputation by casting a gay actor. All because people will have issues and make jokes about it. And that's shocking stuff imo.

Yeah, probably. Just putting it out there. :yay:

I'd prefer to have Batman go it alone so my suggestions are never gonna be great.

Anson ****ing Mount for Batman. I supported Jon Hamm, but with him I'm not sure if he could pull off Bruce AND Batman.

With Anson Mount though, he could EASILY have the intensity required for Batman and Bruce. He's incredible on Hell on Wheels.

The parallel between Dick's story and Bruce's proves that he could be a very important part of a new reboot.

Your argument "His character is just not necessary outside of the comics." could be argued with pretty much every character in the mythos. Joker's story isn't even "necessary". There have been multiple films not featuring him.

Robin may not be "necessary" but his story could be very compelling if done right.

Ezra Miller for Robin

Certainly looks the part. I like these "less obvious" suggestions.

Dude if you have netflix or the channel AMC, i definitely would recommend Hell On Wheels, Anson stars in it. He's most definitely leading man material. That show is incredibly high quality, on par with The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones imo.

He does, and I think back in like the early 90s Day Lewis woulda made a great Batman

Anyone else think Denzel Washington would make a fantastic Harvey Dent/Two Face.

He can play a very admirable hero and the most compelling villains.

and can we get a Two Face with a distinct, repressed gangster personality next time, please?

Umm **** yes to everything you said. Denzel is kinda older now but hes definitely young enough to play a convincing Dent.

I remember Denzel being a popular choice for Dent in the TDK boards around like 06-07, I still support it.

i say get luke evans and ezra and tell the press to go **** themselves.

:woot: My sentiments exactly, but I'd rather not get Evans, even though I'd be happy with that choice. I just want Ezra though for Robin

I'm tired of this ******** on these boards any time someone brings up a gay actor for a superhero they say something along the lines of "Oh no, so and so can't be cast as insert superhero name here because I know the inner workings of WB so well that I know they wouldn't cast a gay actor as a superhero"

You guys don't know ****. Stop discounting actors because of their sexual orientation. You're NOT wb. You're some dumbass fanboy posting on SHH about who you would cast in a superhero movie.

WE DON'T KNOW WHO WB WILL CAST SO LETS STOP ACTING LIKE WE KNOW. If WB is a progressive and moral company they won't ****ing care about an actors sexual orientation.

You guys are overestimating the media backlash of a gay actor being cast as Batman. And it really pisses me off.

Rodrigo- stop acting like you know anything about how WB works. You don't. You're some nobody punk posting on the internet. I realize you were defending gay people but you made yourself sound like a dumbass while doing it. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT WB WILL DO.

Obviously you don't care if I block you but if i see ignorant comments like that again I'm going to have to i hate seeing that **** on these otherwise pleasant boards.

I really like Bruce and Dent being approximately the same age, kinda like "if things had only been different, they could've been best friends, or one could've turned out exactly like the other".
