The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 3

Batman/Bruce Wayne. I think he would give a great performance. You already know from his personality he can play the billionaire playboy. He's in great shape and known to action adventure films from Mission Impossible days. As long as he's not allowed to have influence on the script at all, everything should be ok. He has the acting chops. If you've seen him in Last Samurai his portrayal of a tortured character is exactly how Wayne should be approached. I can also see him as a great Batman throwing himself into the role. Forget all his antics outside of his work. Just don't let him make any decisions on the movie and just hire him as an actor.

Pros:
-Star power
-Good actor
-Bat-***** crazy

Cons:
-50 years old
-Really short
-Bat-***** crazy

I gotta say no

Another actor who could play one side of the title character? Leonardo Dicaprio. He'd be a great Bruce Wayne but I'm not sure if I can imagine him dangling thugs off roof ledges...

Yes! I don't care what people say Leo is an amazing actor. I wouldve loved seeing him as Riddled but I'm positive his Bruce would be interesting

Leo can be intimidating, but that voice of his wouldn't suit Batman.

Batman's voice is easy, at least just do a Clint Eastwood impression ;).

It depends on the interpetation. Keaton's whisper was cool. Conroy just sounds manly. Kilmer bounced between a kid freindly deep voice that didn't work and a good raspy voice-he was probably battling with Shumaker over that. Bale's growl was cool but only in short sentences. This Batman will probably be lighter (to fit in with JL) so a Conroy/Keaton style will work best probably

Conroy is a bit overrated i feel. He has a good voice for animation but that type of approach would never work in live-action. It's not like the whole world knows that Bruce Wayne is Batman already.

Keatons whisper would be the way to go next time. I think the least amount of talking, the better. I imagine he'll be speaking normal in Justice League (Conroy style) but when he's in Gotham around criminals and others that he doesnt know, it'll be minimal speaking + the whisper.

what about Richard Armitage(The Hobbit,Captain America)??

Ok, I didn't know Cruise was 50 years old. I apologize I thought he was a little younger. Well 20 years ago he would have made one hell of a batman.

Don't apologize. Make your choices and stand by them, and when I disagree I'll try to do so respectfully.
Having said that, I couldn't see a young Cruise as Bats either. But 10+ years ago the dude woulda made a AWESOME Hal Jordan or Tony Stark.

I could've seen him as Tony Stark - and I remember that going around, that he was either in contention for it or wanted to do it - but not Bruce/Batman.

If people are suggesting Leo and Cruise for Bats, Im just going to say Johnny Depp couldve made a solid Bats channeling his Donnie Brasco badassery. Around that era he wouldve kicked major ass as Bats.

Tom Cruise is a badass villain in Collateral I could see him as Hush or Black Mask. He could do a lot of Batvillains. What a great actor. Weird as **** though

Woulda made a great Dick Grayson in the 80s

Call me crazy, but I'd like to see Bradley Cooper take on Bruce / batman. I think he could nail the Bruce Wayne aspect of the character, and I'd love to see if he had the chops to pull off batman.

I could also see Jeremy renner in the role.

I would also love to see John glover as Ras Al Ghul.

Dude, I love you. I just got home for work and that thought struck me right in the middle of my shift. The Last Unicorn era Cruise would be an awesome Robin. And I could see Hush

You're crazy ;)

Not a huge fan of Cooper but he has a great look.

And wouldn't of millions of Batman and Robin fans wonder why Dr. Woodroe is Ra's Al Ghul? ;)

Bradley Cooper has a look more suited for The Joker than Batman. But he is also a limited actor IMO.

What part wouldn't work in live action? Two distinct voices for Wayne and Batman? Because that's exactly what I want to see...or hear.

I think he's one of those actors like Heath ledger...limited more by the roles he has played than anything. There's a part of me that suspects he is capable of more if put in the right role.

Here's the problem with most people's predictions here, they seem to be solely basing it on the look of an actor. I mean a guy like hugh jackman would have never been cast as wolverine based solely on his appearance and downey jr's. age almost held him back frombeing cast as iron man.

I think acting talent needs to come first as opposed to the look. Being cast for batman is not like being picked for a modeling ad.

For my choice, I don't particularly think cooper looks like bruce wayne. I chose him because I think he could nail the billionaire businessman aspect of the character, and I think he has showed enough potential in his movies that he could potentialy up his game to give us a decent batman. Plus, he represents the kind of batman id like to see...can be serious but has an underlying humor to him. Nolan has satisfied my curiosity for a dark, gritty, brooding Batman. Now, I want a fun Batman again.

Bradley Cooper can not act period. Limitless was one of the worst acted movies I've ever saw.
