BvS The Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer/TV Spots Thread - Part 1

Who says this line?

"Human beings have a horrible track record of following people with great power."

I'm sure is Clark Kent. It's Henry with a different tone of voice. it's understandable that he made another voice for Clark.

There is a trailer breakdown at SupermanHomepage.com, and Steve's POV of how Batman & Superman are portrayed in the trailer is sound:

There's been much speculation about the themes of this trailer, and what it will mean for the film as a whole. I've seen articles claiming that Superman is painted as the villain of the story, who must be taken down by Batman. I've seen reports that "everyone hates Superman" in the trailer. But there are obviously people who love him, even worship him. There are people reaching out to him, people bending at the knee as he approaches. There are both people arguing for and against Superman. The city even erected a statue to him at one point. Yes, it gets defaced by those who are against his being on Earth. And I think that is a fairly evenly balanced point to take.

We're talking about an Earth where Superman's appearance came during a time when his own race tried to destroy the world. While he saved the day, it's because he was here in the first place that the threat arrived. There are obviously going to be people who feel threatened by him being here... with all his powers. No matter how much he proves himself they won't accept him. He's different.

By the same token, there will be people who will admire him, look up to him, and yes, even worship him. He's a savior. He's a being of amazing powers who is here to help.

As the dialog states... he's a figure of controversy.

All in all, I was impressed with this first trailer without being blown away. It has a dark tone, but that was somewhat expected. I like that it follows on directly from "Man of Steel". We really don't yet understand the motivations of either Superman or Batman. It's vague enough (until the very end) for us to be unsure as to how Superman feels about the way he's perceived (both positive and negative). We also don't know how and why Batman gets involved. What side of the fence he sits on at first... and why or how he decides that he must confront Superman with such antagonistic comments. We also don't know what Superman's reaction to Batman is. Does he land on that rooftop to try and talk things out and reason with Batman? Does he know anything at all about this man who dresses up as a Bat?

Future trailers may give us more insight, but for now, I think we're all just a little more intrigued and more than willing to go along for the ride Zack Snyder is preparing for us.

I transcribed the audio. Let's play ID the voices.

___________________

Charlie Rose: Is it really surprising that the most powerful man in the world should be a figure of controversy?

*We as a population on this planet have been looking for a savior.

Neil deGrasse Tyson: We're talking about a being (*Alien) whose very existence (*They are not telling us the truth) challenges our own sense of priority (*This is our planet) in the universe.

(Daily Planet Clark?): Human beings have a horrible awful track record of (*Tragedy) following people with great power.

*Power corrupts and absolute power (*Terror) corrupts absolutely. (*Chaos)

*Maybe he's just a guy trying to do the right thing.

Lex Luthor: No, we know better now don't we? (*He's out of control) Devils don't come from hell beneath us. (*They brought their war here) No, they come from the sky.

(Holly Hunter): The world has been so caught up with what he can do that no one has asked what he should do.

Crowd: (Go home, Go home, Go home, Go home,)

Alfred: That's how it starts - the fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men cruel.

Batman: Tell me. Do you bleed? You will.

The horrible track record line does sound like Cavill's American accent from the new movie The Man from UNCLE, and the line does start playing when we see superman

So I guess that leaves Scoot McNairy for the maybe hes just a guy trying to do the right thing line

That really doesn't sound like Scoot though.

the trailer is so amazing
i can't stop watching it, i love the music, the atmosphere and visuals are just mouthwatering, it's finally happening :D

What I love most, is that it's not playing safe. It's notplaying like your typical blockbuster movie. IT's bold.

does anyone have a download link for the trailer ?:gngl:

But he has no home. :csad: Even Ma Kent's farm was destroyed.

Maybe he can bunk up with Bruce. Drink beer with him post fight ala Tyler Durden and Narrator.

The names. Ouch. That's sad. Probably makes Superman feel ashamed when looking at the statue of himself. It's another reminder to the people who watched MOS and the fans that 10,000 people died. Firstly I think that was a terrible way to go in that movie with that being Snyder's choice. Consequently, if it wasn't for Superman getting Zod and his army tracked, they would have never come to Earth. While the 10,000 people who died wasn't Superman's fault personally, he is still the one responsible for letting it happen, which the end, justifies the hate and why the people won't be able to trust Superman.

Exactly and the masses can't take it.

I hardly think that it's "the masses" that take issue with it so much as a vocal minority that are threatened by a cbm having a different tone than Marvel for some reason. All that matters is whether or not the film is good. If it is, the masses will eat it up and it will be both critically and financially successful. If not, well Furious 7 proves you don't have to make a good movie for it to be a financial success.

Furious 7 was actually good....I think Transformers is a better comparison.

I felt it had fun moments, but the attempts at humor were cringe-worthy (especially Tyrese) and the script was a bit uneven and overly long. Amazing that they were able to salvage it as much as they did w/o Paul Walker (RIP), but I felt it didn't even compare to Fast Five.

But I agree, Transformers is a better example.

Except that it does NONE of that. Superman DID NOT "let it happen." He's not responsible for Zod's actions in ANY WAY, and the hate for him is in NO WAY "justified."

Is it time again for blaming unfairly to Superman? I thought it was 2 years ago :funny:

Does anyone else think that Supes' powers have been somehow taken away
thus him not using his super speed when charging Batman at the end of the IMAX trailer

Nuclear explosion? Rusian aircraft played somewhere in it? Kryptonite? Or he was just controlling himself because he knows Batman is human?

In my avvy I've been thinking that what if he's depowered already, because of that landing? Just especulation from my part.
