The Batmobile Thread

Ok guys I just got an inside scoop on the batcopter, I can't say much about it, but I saw it!!! It very much exists and it is probably one of the sickest, meanest looking things I've ever seen. Can't wait to see it in the air!

I don't suppose you took any pictures of it?

I saw a picture of it, I asked them if they could send me the picture or let me take a picture of their screen, but they said they weren't allowed. I'll describe it a little to give you an idea. It looks a lot like the Tumbler, same paint and fins and jagged edges, but this thing had no traditional helicopter gear, I just saw the front of it and it had 2 big air intakes on the front edges that had fans behind them. It reminded me of the Lamborghini Reventon front bumper. I just got a look at it for about 15 seconds.

So I wonder if the new Tumbler transforms into a small mini copter? Lose the wheels add a rotor and it's up ,up and away.

How will Batman avoid the police/feds with the noise from that thing?

Actually, in a Gotham Tonight episode on Comcast promoting The Dark Knight, it is mentioned that Wayne Enterprises is developing silent rotor blades.

Good grief ... the Tumbler has a jet engine. Stealth isn't always the name of the game.

That actually is a "stealth" helicopter ... so its as stealthy as a helicopter can get.

I hope there's an aerial vehicle, switch it up a bit in the film. The thing is though it will have to be CGI and an actual model would be in a set with no access so we wont really know if there is one until much later unless they release a pic.

You'll still hear it very clearly when it's directly overhead or within the city, etc. It just doesn't project its signature/noise over as many miles like conventional choppers do. Just like the B-2 bomber and F-17 Stealth 'fighter'...it allows them to approach their targets without being heard or detected by radar as early as their non-stealth counterparts....so by the time you do hear it, it's almost right on top of you.

By not being there when they get there. He can control it remotely. He doesn't even have to land he can glide down and have it return to the cave or land in a pre determined spot. or use it for an escape if he's being chased.
or as someone mentioned previously ,if push comes to shove, outgun them.

so many possibilities.

^That should tell you there.
So Batman's not skilled and quick enough to avoid walking, driving, horseback cops? A black stealthy off the radar copter is going to be rather difficult to find at night with police choppers roaming the skies, given the description you just laid out. And last I checked Gotham's fishing for the budget for a new police chopper anyway. I think it would be easier for him to avoid the cops in a chopper than it would a tumbler.

That sounds more like a hovercraft than a helicopter, especially with two fans behind the intakes - any blades above it?

^Well, from the description, it won't be anything like that.

The way I see it, if it's just Gotham city, I can't see him needing a jet to fight crime, because in a few seconds he can pass right over the whole city...it moves too fast and is too large...unless he was fighting someone else with big aerial combat equipment or something. Yeah, I know it was used in Batman '89 to stop (hehe) a parade, but you know what I'm saying. It would make a bit more tactical sense for him to have a jetpack or something so that he could control his flight more surgically amongst the city and all. A chopper, yeah possibly. Something like the Commanche could probably outrun the GPD choppers...something like a Lynx definitely.

But really....it's a movie. If you can buy that he escapes in the Tumbler, you can buy that he arrives and parks in the alleyway unseen. You kind of just roll with it as long as it's implemented in an engaging and hopefully not ridiculous way.
