The Batmobile Thread

By the way, don't know if this has been brought up yet...but does everyone realize that the Tumbler is a hybrid, like a Prius? :O

If it has a 'silent' run mode, like in BB, then it has to run on electric power during that mode.

So the Tumbler isn't just black...it's also 'green'. :D

The way I see it, if it's just Gotham city, I can't see him needing a jet to fight crime, because in a few seconds he can pass right over the whole city...it moves too fast and is too large...unless he was fighting someone else with big aerial combat equipment or something. Yeah, I know it was used in Batman '89 to stop (hehe) a parade, but you know what I'm saying. It would make a bit more tactical sense for him to have a jetpack or something so that he could control his flight more surgically amongst the city and all. A chopper, yeah possibly. Something like the Commanche could probably outrun the GPD choppers...something like a Lynx definitely.

But really....it's a movie. If you can buy that he escapes in the Tumbler, you can buy that he arrives and parks in the alleyway unseen. You kind of just roll with it as long as it's implemented in an engaging and hopefully not ridiculous way.
True and agreed. But you see the scope of just how big Gotham is in Begins. The chopper allows him to travel from Wayne manor to Gotham alot quicker and doesn't confine him to only taking the streets. The police will expect a tumbler. They won't be expecting a chopper.

A chopper would make sense in terms of the city, yeah.

I was hoping it's be more like a Hind...kinda' like in the Dark Knight Returns comic.....

But I always felt it be cool for at least one scene...like if Batman is cornered by police special forces....that he'd fire his cable into the air and it's be picked up by a Batplane, which would whip him out of there. I guess they kind of did that already in TDK, though.

Again, from the description from Pittsburgh, it sounds like this chopper is a hovercraft/helicopter hybrid and is the size and has the looks of the Tumbler, but I'm sure it's a little larger.

Can't wait to see this thing.

Maybe a Hunter-Killer he took back with him from the future?

^Not bad, bet it's kind of like that, LOL.

People have actually seen it?

Yes, it seems like Subaruwrxfan has seen some sort of new vehicle. Also, Raganork has been told by a :ninja: of his that there will for certain be a new vehicle. The :ninja: has seen it himself. What it is exactly, is not known right now.

I still want to see the batwing as a mini stealth bomber that acts more as reconnaissance.

The F-117 Stealth Fighter (which is still basically a bomber, and not a fighter jet)

What could also be cool is if it was an unmanned plane that's both autonomous and remote-controlled...and would snag-cable him out of danger when he called like the batwing in TAS. :D

I know it's just the fan in me, but I'd still like o see it with a stronger bat motif. I mean Burton had his "bat symbol" jet, Shcumbmacher had his, I think Nolan's symbol lends itself more to this jet (without the bat head of course)

Since filming is supposed to start tomorrow, and I won't be in Pittsburgh until August 6, we need some more confirmation on this new hovercraft/helicopter hybrid!!

Come on now!!

Cool, thanks!!

Maybe a quick sketch of what you got a glimpse of.......appreciate it!

Since they're covering the streets with snow, maybe it's a modified version of the Tumbler for the snow being that you saw no wheels and just intakes with circular fans behind them?

are we thinking the bat tank has trouble with traction?:cwink:

Absolutely, do you know something we don't? :yay:

.....

i probly do, but nothing related to the batman

about the traction... i would guess given the theoretical distribution of weight, that thing would stick to the road pretty well... although it did appear to be rearwheel drive, and having owned a thunderbird in new england, it can be tricky
