The Batmobile Thread

So there's a regular tumbler and a camo tumbler on set?

I'm hoping we get a shot of one of them soon as well. :D

That appears to be the case and I love the Tumbler but I am still holding a bit of hope of seeing a new or even updated Batmobile :woot:

Heh! :D Well if both get wrecked it may happen, personally I'm intrigued by the possibility of some Tumbler vs Tumbler action. :woot:

So happy the Tumbler is back. Honestly, for me, it's the perfect Batmobile. I wasn't against a new Batmobile but they got it right with the Tumbler the first time.

Ok,so they didn´t redesign the Tumbler, I´m okay with that. Say what you will about the design, that car is badass in action.

I´m actually more curious about the new aerial vehicle we been hearing about, the "bat-chopper" or whatever it´s gonna be.

I wonder if it´s gonna look kinda like Blue Thunder, cuz that chopper had a bit of a "Nolanesuue" design.

Nice to see Tumbler again. I thought that Batman won't use it beacuse of damage done in TDK. Well, it seems that Wayne build second or he (or Fox) had two of them.

We forgot very quickly about Wayne and Fox having the blueprints for it... :o

Whoa is that the Tumbler and the Bat-Pod there?

Awesome. So much for a new batmobile. I'm glad they just re-built the Tumbler.

Me too, the notion of a Tumbler-esque chopper boggles the mind! I'm interested to see how exactly Nolan plans to use it, I can certainly see him turning his hand to an aerial action sequence.

I remember the film but I can't find a good image anywhere.

The Tumbler-esque chopper sounds like Batman is going to get blue thunder :D

Reinventing the Batmobile would have lessened the realism of the Nolan Batman, he's tried to keep the series as close to reality as he can, constantly changing things for changing things sake would have been a bad move, look at the things he has changed, all done for a good reason, the suit, bat pod, all story driven.
Adding a helicopter to Batman's garage does go along with this, if he's on the run now as indicated from the end of TDK he would need something to make it easier to escape from the law.
In real life, technology needs to be upgraded, especially if it's responsible for your well-being.

This is the action figure, gives an idea.

While its a cool vehicle for sure, I've never been much for the tumbler as the batmobile to be perfectly honest.

I was hoping we'd at least get a modified version. While the tumber fit a number of Batman's needs, it wasn't designed with the Vigilante on the move in mind. It was created for the military for a fairly specific function. Why wouldn't Batman use his resources to make some specifically suited to his mission?

Well it could make sense that there would be another one. Fox did say that two of them would jump over a river towing cables.

They never did get the damn bridge to work though.

I could see that as the basis for sure, only more bulked up and armoured.

Fox said "Two of these....." I think the Camo Tumbler is the other Tumbler that gets painted black at some point. I still haven't ruled out the possibility these Tumblers are projections designed to throw us off the scent of a new batmobile. We shall see.

That's an interesting theory, I honestly don't think there is going to be a sleeker Batmobile that some are hoping for, but Nolan may have something up his sleeve.

This is disappointing. Had high hopes for Nolan doing something new.

Really not happy about this. What was the point of destroying it?

In all honesty, I thought we were getting a new Batmobile. But having seen the photos, it looks like they are going to reuse the Tumbler under the reasoning that Fox gave in Begins, that two of them jumped over a river carrying cables and they couldn't get the bridge to work, presumably leaving another Tumbler in storage somewhere. However, I do think a new Bat vehicle will be showcased and the news seems to suggest that its a helicopter or plane of some sort. That jives with the news segment on the special features Knight DVD where the reporter asks Fredericks why Wayne Enterprises is developing stealth propeller blades when there seems to be no application for them in their product line. Plus, an aerial vehicle makes the most sense since Wayne had to plan the Lau extraction and involve numerous third parties in it, the guy Alfred got the beater plane from and the smugglers whose cargo plane Batman used to get him and Lau out of there.

I've never seen that special feature that mentions the stealth propeller blades but that is very interesting, and thinking back to the Lau extraction the reasoning behind Bruce getting his own aerial vehicle is very sound, I'm very much looking forward to seeing how Nolan utilizes it.

Tumblers back? I'd have to say I'm pretty happy about it. Like a lot of people, I was expecting something new. But I've always loved the Tumbler, and a new car wasn't necessary, so it makes sense to keep it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I, for one, don't want an aerial vehicle. I think the Bat-Pod is hokey enough, but a plane/helicopter would be ridiculous.

I'm glad the Tumbler is back, and though I would've loved to have seen a new design, I'm just fine with the original being driven around the streets of Pittsburgh! I hope it sees a lot of action.

I could say that I purposefully changed the titling of this thread from New Batmobile to The Batmobile in TDKR because I knew the Tumbler would be back... but that'd be an outright lie... which I'm not really above.

Anyway, I was hoping for a redesigned, sleeker, more sportscar-type vehicle, but I suppose it makes sense to have an alternate, given Fox dropped the line about there being two of them in BB. So, if it does play out the way it seems to read, c'est la vie.

I'm still holding on a tiny bit of hope that there is a new Batmobile :o

:yay:

**** YEAH THE TUMBLER! :cwink: SO glad to see it's back. Did not want a new batmobile, I love this beast.
