The Batsuit Thread

My question is some people seem to talk seperately about TDK suit and TDKR suit, weren't they the exact same suit?

It is the same suit, but it was shot differently (given a matte look in The Dark Knight and more gloss in The Dark Knight Rises) and Bale was thinner in The Dark Knight, so the suit seems very different.

No it isn't. There is no better reason to assume that than there is to assume that the cross section of opinion here is broadly representative, but that the 'general audience' doesn't bother to let its opinion be known.

Haha trust me if the general audience doesn't like something they let it be known. Generally when people are content they tend not to make a big deal out situations however.

At the very least we can say most of the general audience was quite content with the TDK suit.

Look at everything from the new 52 to the latest arkham game, you can see the effect of the suits look has been gradually more adopted by other batman property's as well. Continued sign of its acceptance with the public.

How do the general audience let their feeling be known?

If you are going to try 'with their wallets', then don't bother. There are 1001 reasons someone might go to see a movie; the costume of one of its characters is unlikely to make the top half of the list.

Come on we live in a complainer society if people don't like something it almost always becomes known especially with social media, movie studios especially take notice.

Look at the reaction to the TASM spider-man suit and voila all of a sudden for the sequel we have a totally revamped suit (that looks suspiciously like the old raimi suit).

There was none of that after TDK.

So, if people bother to use the internet to post an opinion about a superhero costume, they are and remain the 'general audience'?

Interesting. The views expressed here must, therefore, be representative of the 'general audience'.

I don't get why it was shaped the way it was, but I really like the TDK/R suit

For a rebooted Batman costume, I think it should look something like this.

with the cape and cowl looking like this

I suppose with all the action movies the star stands in the middle of a gangs shooting at him and not getting hit, we might as well get a Batman in tights
I like the suit design you chose johndoe123

Well I don't really consider the suit "tights" he certainly wouldn't be wearing a leotard. It'd be a Kevlar fiber suit, so it could take quite a bit of damage. But also the rebooted movie I in vision would be a lot more of a hyper reality than the Nolan movies. Batman would be stronger, acrobatic and agile, a genius detective who could anticipate actions before they happen, and access to more futuristic tech.

That amazing work. I would love to see something like this in the reboot.

I too dig that new 52 costume

I'm looking forward to see a live action Batman flick like this one

Thank you. For a few additions to the design, I would like the bat symbol to look more like from the Arkham games like so, since it's my personal favorite and I wouldn't want to re-use the dark knight one.

And the utility belt would be a more golden, bronze color.

I really like the design johndoe posted above.

Nice look, but I would have the belt a little bulkier with more pouches and maybe a leg strap on him for his grappling gun.

This would be cool, next to the Arkham Origins costume, on the big screen.

Yeah, I agree, those would be excellent additions

Niche forums such as this one technically, aren't counted in social media and the like. Social media i.e twitter, fb is the general public.

Love the Begins Batsuit and would have loved to have seen some refinement of it.
The suit from TDK was shot much better in TDKR, though I still would have preferred them to unclutter the chest..

Maybe a combination of the suits?? keep most of the Begins suit but change the shoulders and arms to TDK suit?

Grey suit, my favorite. If they used this design, it would be one of the first movie Batsuits that actually had a bunch of pouches and such.
