BSG + Star Trek teaser music = Sawyer getting a massive erection :o:up:

Not stoked to watch this online first.

Eh, better than nothing, I suppose.

I guess I just hate watching shows on my Computer, ecspecially something like BSG.

I'll definitely buy that, assuming it's good. Can't be any worse than The Plan.

BLOOD & CHROME Episode 1

BLOOD & CHROME Episode 2

It's not up to BSG standards at all (or Caprica, for that matter), but it's also not as bad as I was expecting. I'll keep watching.

They're doing well given apparently what little resources they had.

The irony is that this would have probably worked much better if the Cylons were already androids, since that requires much less CG.

Caprica's main problem was that it was nothing like Battlestar Galactica.

This could actually be a lot like the old show.

I dunno, that depends on what you mean by the "the old show." If you mean the one from the 70's, maybe. But if you mean the one this is spun-off from, well, it seems far more...generic to me so far. Simply, Humans vs Robots in Space! BSG cared much more about its characters and ideas from the opening scenes onwards. It's like this and Caprica took BSG and split it into its two extremes: Caprica took all the grand ideas and cerebral nature and made a show out of that, and this one's taking the space military action elements and making a show out of that. So both are left feeling like lesser pieces rather than a satisfying whole, if that makes sense. I was always more into the ideas and themes than the action stuff, so I guess that's why Caprica seemed much better than this to me.

Still, as I said, this has enough BSG in its DNA for me to keep watching.

Well, c'mon, it's only been like 20 minutes. Give it some time. The old show took a while to build as well.

To clarify, when I say the old show, I mean the 2000's show. Old in relation to this and Caprica.

Yeah but my point was, even the very opening scene of the first one was focused more on the ideas than anything else (Cylons are humanoid now? "Are you alive?" etc) . So 20-mins in, you can already tell this is a different beast.

And thanks for clarifying, it gets tricky when you're talking about a spin-off of a remake. :yay:

I actually thought the original (1970's) show's pilot's premise would be interesting one to see revisited in this reinvented universe. The humans and Cylons having a peace accord.

I've only seen a couple of random episodes of the original '70's series. Don't think I saw the pilot at all.

I'd imagine you could probably find it on youtube, or even an official site, streaming.

It hasn't aged well (shag carpeted starships and all), but if you're a fan of the modern show, it's worth a viewing. The actual battlestar still looks pretty cool.

I didnt think I would like the young Adama character at all in this but he was surprisingly entertaining in his hot-shot demeanor. I can really see this as a younger version of the Admiral in later years. In the beginning of Ep 1 I was almost shouting at the present Commander that "jebus, just give him the control of Galactica and the war will be over like that!" :P

I hope it will stay away from too much fighting in space though, that scene in Ep 2 was terrible headache-inducing.

You're not going to enjoy Ep 3 much then.

Prequels seem to be doomed to be inferior to the original for some reason.

My mom is actually a massive fan of the original series, so she owns it all on DVD. Guess I'll have to check out the pilot.

It's been a long time since I've been in here. Glad to see the show is back in a new form

I think you give the opening Mini Series for BSG too much credit. The mini series was very weak IMO. But when the series proper started with '33' that really hammered the story home. But until 33 came out, for me, I wasn't quite sure whether or not BSG would turn out great... luckily it did. Caprica came out just after BSG, and it was riding on the quality of a 4 season success, with almost the same crew running the show. So it started strong... though I will always say, the show started strong, but definitely far too slow narrative wise for it's opening salvo of episodes.

So far, I like what I'm seeing for B&C. I'm still hoping it goes to series at some point. Sure, it's suffering from that first episode syndrome, but the first 20 minutes are not at all bad. I can't think of many sci fi shows where the first episode was all that good... compared to when the show matured. The BSG MS was a little weak, ST: TNG encounter at Farpoint was meh etc etc.

Shows like this need a season to hit their stride. What's nice, is that the environment is already there. All that needs to happen is for the crew, writers and player to get into the groove, and this show will be solid.

The miniseries was awesome. :o

While I agree that the series that followed was definitely an improvement, I don't think the BSG mini-series was all that weak. The ideas and themes were there (and as I mentioned before, presented up front), they just had a while before reaching their potential.

I see nothing wrong with the miniseries. I honestly didn't know people had a problem with it.

The miniseries was great. And people say I have high expectations...

This series, is well, as good as you can get given the resources.. it's a free low, budget 11-minute show on youtube, I'm not expecting the moon.

My only complaint would be the lens flares. A couple is fine, but they're putting Abrams to shame.
