Free Things to Do

They say you can't get anything for free. Not so in New York, where you can enjoy some of the very best music, dance, theater, and film the city has to offer and pay absolutely nothing. The best part is that most of the free events are in summer, and usually outside. The Metropolitan Opera and the New York Philharmonic give free concerts in parks scattered around all five boroughs. And look for exciting events like the Downtown NYC River to River Festival, the Hudson River Festival, and the South Street Seaport Music Festival. Below are our Top 25 free New York Experiences.

A lot of those are dependent on it not being f**king freezing to death.

you put yourself on the ropes
Actually, things are looking up, I've got a job interview tomorrow for something I'd actually like to do.

And no, I didn't this time.

Maybe a little.

Never give the Met more than a buck. Save whatever money you can because if you plan to buy anything other than a pencil or eraser and it will cost you damn near everything.

Hell, if you have a group, pay for everyone with that dollar.

The calendar may say early March and the official start to spring may be only two weeks away but Central New York will feel the brunt of a mid winter arctic air mass over the next few days.

The leading edge to the arctic air is a cold front. This front will drop south through all of Central New York by late Monday morning with a brief burst of heavy snow for everyone. Following the passage of the cold front the cold air rushes in on 20-40 mph northwesterly winds sending our temperatures from its high near 30 in the morning to the teens by late afternoon. Along with the cold air Monday afternoon will come lake effect flurries and squalls close to Syracuse. We have certainly seen bigger snowfalls this winter than the 2-4” we are forecasting for Monday but the combination of snow and wind will make it a rather harsh afternoon across all of Central New York.

The cold air will continue to spill into Central New York Monday night and with the wind remaining gusty we expect windchills to approach 20 below zero by Tuesday morning. There will still be flurries and squalls around but we think the intensity will decrease overnight Monday.

The core of the arctic air will be over us Tuesday. In spite of strong March sunshine we think temperatures may not make it out of the single numbers. The wind Tuesday won’t be as strong as Monday but there should be enough of a breeze to keep windchills below zero throughout the day.

Well, from what I've seen at least Monday shoud be tolerable.

It's too goddamn hot out.

No, some people call it "nice" :whatever: I hate when it gets hot because I then Have to wear less clothing.:(

I have no problem displaying my fat. But anything over 60 degrees bothers the hell out of me. I hate Summer.

the temperature dropped pretty quickly, and it'll snow tonight into tomorrow. I was freezing my ass off in a light jacket today.

This weather is such bulls**t. It went from 60's-70's to this in a day and a half? And on St. Patrick's Day eve? It better let up a little tomorrow, I'm not canceling the irish pub-hopping twice.

After that Apartment building fire and the shooting in the Village, all you guys can talk about it weather???

I only heard about the fire in passing. Though really, no one's mentioned the Sean Bell case here yet.

Someone tell me tomorrow's weather now, please. Today was fantastic.
