What about rewatches for black people?

There are 36 million blacks. Quite a few are going to go at least twice.

yup, there will definitely be rewatches. i personally am gonna watch it at least once more. however, for me, i dont think this film is as rewatchable like say 4-5 times in the cinema as say an avengers, gotg or civil war

Avengers was one of the most rewatchable superhero movies of all time.

BP probably won't have the same compulsive rewatching effect but I have seen a few reviewers say they can't wait to see it again.

This film will get better the more times you see it. Most people like Avengers less the more they see it because the story is not great.

No movie is 4-5 times rewatchable in theaters to me no matter how good it is because of the price of going to the movie and how fast movies go from theater to dvd now days. I have never watched a movie more then 3 times in theaters and even 3 is rare. I normal only see a movie 1-2 times.

The Matrix is the only movie I'd watch 3-4 times in the theater.

Avengers is only one in a handful I'd watch twice.

Awaiting to see where BP stands.

I don't find this to be true at all. You may see some 'real fans' on message boards say such thing though....

It's funny people bringing up rewatchability factor. The Avengers fits that mold perfectly for me and I saw it in the theater 5 times. The Dark Knight does not fit my definition, hence why I only saw it once in the theater. Yet it ended up making 550 + million domestically, despite not being 'fun' or 'relentlessly entertaining'. It offered something different and was engrossing to people in other ways. I think a lot of BP's success and appeal will be predicated on not being the norm and attracting a different spectrum of the audience. I haven't seen the film yet, but it reads like it probably falls somewhere in between TDK and Winter Soldier.

Never underestimate the novelty factor.

It's the reason Wonder Woman had legendary legs.

Really? The only thing I really cringe at when watching TA is how CA's poor suit. Other than that, it's still one of my favorite MCU films, mainly because it still reminds me of how much joy I got out of seeing it in the theater with a huge crowd.

Yeah, it never gets old for me. Never. Callback to the 80's blockbusters.

There's a certain poster in this thread that is quite frankly the worst poster I have ever seen on The Hype! And that is saying alot as there have been quite a few turd individuals on here.:sly:

agreed

TDK was as fun and as entertaining as a CBM can be.

The fact that it's dark and more of a crime thriller doesn't mean it wasn't fun. Saw it 3 times at the cinema back then (was 15 at the time) and since 2008 i have probably seen it 8-9 more times.

The Dark Knight is a fun movie. Smart and dark, yes. But also fun.

I said it doesn't fit my definition of fun...

Yet it still made 550 + million...

My point was rewatchability factor is individual and found in different things for different people. It's not always an obvious thing. :yay:

So what? (Directed towards screendaily)

How did it do compared to other MCU movies?

Comparison

Black Panther stormed the UK box office on Tuesday (Feb 13), posting an opening day total of £2.67m from more than 550 sites.

It also tops several recent superhero film UK opening days such as Thor: Ragnarok (£2.13m) and Deadpool (£2.3m).

The biggest ever official opening weekend for a Marvel film is Avengers: Age Of Ultron, which posted £18m including £3.6m in previews.

Ragnarok made 40m and Deadpool 53 million in total.

Some good scalps there.

I don't know if I'd call it fun but TDK is something I'll be able to keep watching for good. It's one of those films that I watched every day for a month or so after initially buying it. There aren't many other similar films I can say that about, Goodfellas is the closest I guess.

I only saw TDK once in theaters, but I’ve seen that movie more than any other. I can’t sit through TA again. I tried, but it’s not worth it.

I’ll most likely be seeing BP at least twice.

Not too shabby.

I'm real curious how it will do in Eastern Europe or South America.

I'm not too familiar with how these places are with B/C list superheroes, but it will show the power of the Marvel Brand and the product of the film to get those folks adoring the film.

I think its going to do well as the Marvel brand is quiet popular there.

We will just have to wait and see.
