Bumblebee The Bumblebee Spin-Off Official Thread

The first Bay Transformers movie is still criminally under rated for me. It seems to get lumped in with the poor sequels far too often. Not seen BB yet and really looking forward to it, but it will have e to be really good to beat the first movie for me.

Is it though? It launched the franchise pretty much. People generally liked it.

I'm sort of confused why they ignore tons of continuity set up by the previous movies but still keep it a prequel story.
Any new film would need a soft reboot to make an actual cohesive film.
Except it still reinforces certain aspects of the continuity of the Bay Transformers movies.
If anyone wants the Transformers Universe to have a future, we've realistically got to ignore anything that Bay done; which they seemingly have with this film. That doesn't mean they can't utilize some aspects of the future films, they can just amend or tie them in better if/when they get there.

I'm beyond relieved that they're rebooting the Transformers Universe, even if it is a soft reboot. Bay failed; he's essentially the Synder of the Transformers Universe. Snyder's DC films failed. Bay's Transformers films failed.

The first thing I would've ignored is Bee's broken voicebox and the Witwicky stuff. That's all folks.
Unlike all the superhero properties, Transformers is pretty damn straight-forward, though not unlike a lot of 80s cartoons.

Seeing this in 4 hours.

After the abomination that TF5 was, I don't have much hype for this. But considering how good the reception for it is, I might be even left surprised (hopefully)...

yeah TF 5 was garbage that's why they cancelled TF6 and Bay is out and you get to see the 80's Generation 1 Transformers so forget what Bay had done before and enjoy the Movie

except the movie reinforces a lot of things he did as well.

Once again, the film reinforces a lot of things he established in his original films rather than ignore them.

How does Dylan O' Brein do as the voice of Bumblebee with the brief amount of time he has?

Got my ticket for Thursday, and a small amount of footage is already confirming what I'm hearing, this is a clear franchise reboot, if this earns more than the last one. That will be the trick. But WOM on this is super-stellar. If word of Mouth is true, Aquaman may be in for a battle.

Who would have thought a Transformers late sequel would be getting reviews like this.

It's very hard to maintain an average rating that high.

Oh look. You can actually tell what's happening. No slobbering insectoid junk piles clanging together in sight.

Saw it 2 days ago.

I actually really liked it! It has heart, is entertaining and the action scenes are clear enough and superb. Charlie is also a great lead and such a likable character. The G1 designs actually work - the stuff on Cybertron is amazing.

The whole movie is miles above the last 4 TF films.

Funny how when you remove Bay, you can immediately not only get a good film, but a good TF film with a good RT score.

According to Travis Knight, this is in the same continuity as Bay's films.

Well, I then guess the continuity is all messed up now.

Bay's continuity was garbage to begin so it's not messing it up so much as its trying to course correcting and just focusing on making this film the best it can be. Any inconsistencies and continuity issues with Bay's films can be smoothed over at some indeterminate time in a future film...or never. Not every little detail needs to line up and be airtight. This isnt the MCU.

Regardless of what Travis Knight has said, this film needs to be a relaunch of the Transformers Universe and unassociated with the Bay films.

Doesn't this movie also actively contradict the first Transformers film as well?

They are doing a soft reboot rather then a hard reboot, trying to have their cake and eat it too, does not change the fact that the Bayformers films have garbage continuity and you would need some sort of reboot to tell a cohesive story. There is no point trying to build off of everything Bay did, because the continuity in the Bay films is horrible and contradictory.
