I get why they didn't get much screen time, as that whole sequence was probably expensive as ****.

Arcee from Revenge of the Fallen

Actually, that Arcee design was created for the first movie but dropped (I think they ultimately replaced her with Ironhide, IIRC) - IDW did use it in the tie-in comics prior to ROTF, though.
THIS is Arcee in ROTF, concept:

Not really an improvement, though. :p

The movie was a fun and enjoyable throwback to classic Amblin movies.

I also love how they completely turned the "sexualize girls" trope on its head by sexualizing the guys instead. Just like girls in other movies keep taking off, or unbuttoning, their shirts merely for the sex appeal of it - the guys here couldn't help but take off their shirts. All the while, actively not doing the same with the female protagonist (taking off, unbuttoning, etc). This had to be an intentional flip of that trope.

Except this film still makes an effort to set up large swaths of Bay's films.
Aside from the voice box and Camaro, it seems they pretty much changed the entire history established in the Bay films. I don't get what you're talking about.

lol I was still waiting for more.

Anyone else get Ash and Butterfree vibes during that last scene?

I mean showing those things are pretty significant.
Referencing Megatron in an iceblock would be significant. Any of these characters being or related to a Witwicky is unfortunately significant.
If Bee is a sanctioned asset in the armed forces since he apparently fought the Nazis...that's significant.

Megatron's Ice Block is in Hoover Dam in Nevada. This film was primarily set in Texas and California.

Megatron wasn't on Cybertron when they left. The Decepticons were being led by Shockwave.

Megatron is on Earth now. Why, they need to explain.

The continuity is screwed, so they shouldn't acknowledge any of the previous films at all anymore.

So basically all they did was take the basic G1 designs and add a bunch of extra details and texture to them.

Which Michael Bay would never have done.

I also recall how Bay and the lead designer for the '07 movie claimed that it wouldn't have made sense to the audience if they had retained the blocky look of the G1 designs. Yeah ok. Now look. Them G1 designs getting universally hailed as more pleasing to the eye and makes the action easier to follow.

I will say in slight defense to the Bay designs, that objectively, I do respect the concept that since they are aliens that they should look more alien-like. However considering that in the immediate sequels Bay and company gave them pretty human faces in Jetfire or Sentinel Prime, facial metal hair and all, it kind rendered their initial explanations moot.

They are fictional aliens, you can literally make them look however you want. Like why do Star Trek aliens, most of them, look almost identical to humans?

Also you can still update them without making the designs look like absolute trash.
