The Bush Thread

To be fair nepotism runs through the Ivy schools pretty frequently

Yale and Harvard are only hard to GET IN, they aren't any harder than any other college as far as academics, and I have read that they actually are fairly easy.

Ivy schools is a brand name, hence the purposeful difficulty of getting in. Kind of like Diamonds.

It's possible to get into Harvard with a low SAT score but with a good athletic background, and on top of which make more money than graduates with a higher SAT score and GPA.

Do you really want to get into that debate?

Yes.

I understand that Ivy League schools aren't as difficult as they are perceived, but still it's hard to get through those institutions with degrees if you aren't half smart. Most of the people that stoop to the "Bush is stupid" card certainly couldn't do it.

I do think that it is the easy way out to just say "Bush is stupid". He did a good job as Governor of Texas, and yes there is a positive when talking about one's college education.

With all of that said, I do not think that his college education helped him one bit as President...apparently they did not teach him to think for himself, and IMO that is where most of his problems stemmed from...

College is basically advanced trivia, at least nowadays. It doesn't really teach critical thinking or chutzpah so to speak. I think these two qualities are unteachable.

College is not really a good measure of intelligence, maybe of some threshold by getting in.

Why is this even news to be reported on a Tea Party website. Damn, can they try any harder to make themselves look like a wing of the Republican party?

TPM is not affiliated with the Tea Partiers.

President's aren't allowed to think for themselves.

lol, yeah. I think I was reading something on the Tea Party before I read that link. Also, I was a little tippsy.

That's a funny billboard. I'm sure that over time some people will forget that it was Bush that got us into this mess to begin with.
